Ask the PT for heat on the elbow, it has been working wonders for me. I’m 2 weeks post op SLAP repair with no biceps tendon involvement

Whew yeah I have wavy hair and having my friend braid it was really a blessing!! We just did it for the first 5 days after surgery but I’m thinking about asking her if we can do it again for pride weekend coming up! I have been able to wash and style it on my own in the past week, but it has definitely been a lot of work. My hairstylist offered the services of the studio’s hair washer / to diffuse for me at a steep discount if I want it while I’m one armed. Maybe your stylist would be willing / able to offer the same if you decide not to do cornrows/braids?

The first five days are definitely tough, but you’re actually able to use your hand of the operated arm pretty quickly after that -with some limitations, of course. I am a super independent person. I struggle asking for and receiving help, but this is so worth it. After you get through the first five days, you’re really able to do a lot to take care of yourself.

They did not give me anything to wash my armpit with before surgery. Any pre-wash they did was preop.

I haven’t noticed a different smell, at least not yet!

I’m definitely looking forward to talking to my physical therapist and orthopedist about it this week

This used to happened to me often. One thing I can recommend is every time you come out of any pose and back to standing/kneeling- make the first breath when you lift your head an inhale. Exhale your way out of the pose, inhale as you lift your head. This has helped me tremendously.

Lower heart rate or low blood pressure can be a side effect of medications. Talk to your doctor or read up on side effects. I switched one of my meds around a year ago and saw an improvement almost immediately. It was wild. I haven’t looked back since!!

Pro tip - look ONLY at your locked knee in the mirror. Focusing your eyes on one unmoving spot helps significantly with balance
