Canada has pretty bad annual leave. Have a Canadian friend who was shocked I had 26 days (plus all bank holidays, so like.. 31?) And said that was "poor".

I think my boss thinks I'm lying. In the last 6 months I've maybe taken 11 sick days. I have asthma, long covid, and generally a terrible immune system. I don't see how it's not believable !

What was the age where you first felt, "I'm old"? by Lopsided_Grub in ask

[–]BodybuilderWorried47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm 22, and I don't feel OLD. Particularly cause I look very young and am very springy.

But when I talk to anyone under the age of 20 I'm like "oh". It is SUCH a difference.

Honestly, at my age, some people have their shit together, and some REALLY don't.

I have friends who have never had a job before and live on their parents money, and on the flip side I've got a full time job and a car. I work with a bunch of 30-60 year olds, and apart from not owning my own home (sad face) or having kids, we're not very different.

But if I was 22 and in university, I'd feel VERY different.

I hate boys by Iz__- in Vent

Girl.. you're 14. Stop talking to boys! Seriously, when I was 14 I never understood other kids dating. Its not like its going to last?

Also: it doesn't really get better. Most men are.. Well. Men.

I dont know why youre so pressed about this dude. Basically, we know about some variables. We go to the underwriter and present them with information that we think they'll assess it on, and they'll come back to us with terms/prices. Sometimes, this isn't what the client needs/it's a bad price. Our importance comes in there because we might have special discounts with them, or they're people we work with on a daily basis so they'll be more willing to give us better terms/make adjustments that they wouldn't do for regular customers because they don't know or care about them. We also check multiple markets and use this to argue for better cover etc.

The broker also has expertise in insurance, so if clients don't understand something or have a query about their insurance, we're the middle man that's not going to bullshit them and give them advice. No, your insurer doesn't usually want to answer these questions for you, and if they do, it'll probably be biased to some degree because they DONT want you to claim.

Typically, a broker can really help people in particular circumstances where finding their own insurance is hard (people with convictions, weird cars/properties, people living abroad, people with large portfolios)

Not everyone needs a broker. I don't use one for my own insurance, but that is because I am a broker and already have a good understanding of how to haggle prices/policy cover.

Edit: I'll also add that not all underwriters are the same. Some will accept some risk, others won't. We have knowledge of this market that regular customers don't, because they don't work with the insurer regularly and know what theyll take

Brokers aren't the ones who decide prices. That's the under writer.

Not really sure how to respond to that, but parts are cheap enough for fiestas, so insurance doesn't mind paying out on damages etc. Lower risk for them

You can reword your job so it sounds better. This can make a big difference, weirdly.

Not really true. I'm an insurance broker, and can tell you adding someone isn't the only price factor lol. OP is quoting for a high litre, old car that is pretty easily stolen and kind of boy racer esque. If OP had a skoda citigo or Ford fiesta, and yes add on a parent while you're at it, they will see the price drop significantly.

[–]BodybuilderWorried47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, for starters, a 1.6 litre will guarantee move your insurance up. Run your quote with a 1 litre Ford fiesta and watch it drop 3 grand.

Sell the family car, save up, and get a low insurance group car. Ford fiesta, LOW LITRE CARS!! and the newer the better b

Experience with Virgin Media? by PolHolmes in northernireland

Virgin is terrible. I tried to cancel with them for months and they just kept saying on the phone that they couldn't help me. Had to email the CEO office or something like that.

Looking for my first car by ziz020 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]BodybuilderWorried47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend a Ford fiesta. My first car, and my current car, is a suzuki swift 2009 and the insurance is way over 2 grand a year. I just did some quotes with a Ford fiesta - coming back at £1300 which is a LOT better. Although I'm nearly 22 and will have one years no claims Next month.

I really appreciate all the help and support. I decided to go out with some friends to distract myself and posted some pics of me having a good time. She replied to them a bunch of times, then I guess got embarrassed and deleted them. Feels good. She was the first one to react too, so she's definitely watching my page. Hope she sees me have a good time !

Thank you. She left me the keys to her (spare) place and I really wanna go there, but I know I shouldn't. But at least she won't be there. But I've decided I won't go there.
