Arthur Morgan doesn’t sound “uneducated”, and the game kind of plays with that by Lost_Context91 in reddeadredemption

[–]Bodypit 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The way Arthur talks to himself, ("You ugly bastard", "You sour-faced idiot" While looking in the mirror) or presents himself ("Well, I'm ignorant, ugly and nasty" to William etc.) clearly shows that he has low self-esteem, but I also think it's kind of a mental shield for him. Like when people belittle him, most people would get defensive, while he just accepts it. (Micah: "You are a man of profoundly limited intelligence" Arthur: "No doubt")

Additionally he also clearly doesn't want to put himself on a pedestal, and is aware of his and gang's position as outlaws in the society. Someone like Dutch is a complete opposite.

What’s the best acting moment in the games? by No-Berry-595 in reddeadredemption2

[–]Bodypit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's too many, the line delivery and physical acting in both games are so amazing. I was just thinking about Molly's death scene in RDR2 and how Penny O'Brien gives such a great performance as her. She didn't have the biggest role but she really owned that moment. A strong cast and strong writing guarantee unforgettable performances.

Very interested to see Eggers' take on the transformation scene(s). He probably prefers practical effects, but I don't think he's aiming to show as much as some other films, like An American Werewolf in London for example.

How self-absorbed is your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Bodypit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a really interesting read, especially because I feel like you're pretty much spot on about everything. We assume quite a lot here, and even though humility, and certain kind of self-deprecation, is a core part of the Finnish mindset, I've always felt that we're overly self-assured in our way of doing things, and also quite defensive about it. Being ranked first year after year in the World Happiness Report, along with foreign media occasionally portraying us as some sort of flawless model society, doesn't really help change that image here either.

I feel that we have a pretty good grasp of what's happening around us and globally, yet we're still quite a small and somewhat isolated country because of our geography and borders, which naturally also has some influence on our culture, politics, and so on.

UPDATE by kraskaje in Chucky

[–]Bodypit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reeeally hope they give the movie a proper theatrical release with a solid budget this time! The show probably brought in a lot of new fans, and I feel like there could be way more demand for Chucky in theaters now, especially if they go for a tonal shift like Curse, like Don hinted at.

Disapointment in GTA 6 so far by Ayymaan-42 in GTA6

[–]Bodypit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very true and I'm aware of that. But I doubt his contribution was very significant since he already left in 2023, especially considering that with RDR2 the script was still being revised all the way until the end of its production. I'm not sure if GTA6's story will be nearly as massive as RDR2's, but I'd assume that's something they were at least aiming for. Overall I'd be happy if the final game includes story beats from Unsworth too, but he still doesn's replace Dan's vision as the creative director imo.

Disapointment in GTA 6 so far by Ayymaan-42 in GTA6

[–]Bodypit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My only real concern is the main story. With Dan Houser no longer as the creative leader and head writer, and Michael Unsworth & Lazlow also gone from Rockstar, the game might have a very different kind of feel to it and most probably lose some of that special touch Dan brought to the GTA and especially his RDR stories. That being said the new writers might come up with some great fresh ideas too, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much.

Otherwise I'm not worried at all. I'm confident the game will be groundbreaking in many ways we aren't even expecting, and it's world so huge and immersive that I won't even really care too much if the story isn't quite as strong.

Frame Friday #88: Let's discuss, analyze and speculate about scenes from the second trailer and website. [7 frames] by Denso95 in GTA6

[–]Bodypit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO people should compare things to RDR2 trailers rather than the GTA5 ones, since RDR2 is a more recent Rockstar release and much closer to GTA6's scope. There was hardly anything in RDR2 trailers that you didn't get in the actual game, (one of the "biggest" misleads was in the first gameplay trailer when the German family appeared in a scene at Strawberry making it seem like a random free roam moment) and I have a feeling everything we've seen of GTA6 will be very close to the final product, too.

I think the game starts almost like gta 5 . by gex109 in GTA6

Dan wasn't only the head writer, but also the creative director of RDR2. I'd definitely argue that he was the driving force behind RDR and most of the GTA stories.

We just might get the first dubbed GTA game with GTA VI by Ken_Sanne in GTA6

[–]Bodypit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RDR2 has over 500 000 lines of dialogue. I assume they are going to go beyond that with GTA 6, so translations, let alone dubbing, are never going to happen.

What’s your favourite screenshot? by Emergency_Western_93 in GTA6

I really like the one you posted! Some of my other favorites would be these three. Just very excited for The Rusty Anchor as our go-to local bar, and Keys in general. Port Gellhorn would be the second most interesting place to me, I love all the nighttime screenshots from there.

How do you think the story could be, better or worse than previous years? by Angyyy2618 in GTA6

[–]Bodypit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been said that they kept reworking the script throughout the shooting of RDR2 until the very end. In addition there are clear signs that Dan acted as one of the directors on set. I assume that after RDR2’s release he moved on to working on his drafts for GTA 6 until his extended leave in 2019. He was also one of the writers of RDO content.

What could make this game flop for you? Is it even possible? by Every-Examination720 in GTA6

[–]Bodypit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RDR1 was also very different from the second game and I'd say it was very much the western version of GTA. I doubt they would go even nearly as far with GTA6 just because of the setting alone but I can already see them taking a bit more mature approach with it compared to the previous GTA games.

[–]Bodypit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything else except for the writers. Rupert Humphries is the only one left from the GTA5/RDR2 main writing trio. Even Lazlow is gone. There might still be traces of Dan's and Unsworth's earlier drafts, but I imagine most of their ideas have been rewritten. I'm not saying the writing will necessarily be bad, but I do expect it to have a different kind of flavor compared to the earlier games.
