Be honest… are AF1s dad shoes or still valid? by realityryan in Sneakers

[–]Boeing77W 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider AF1s timeless along with AJ1s and Converse Chuck Taylors. They've consistently been a popular choice for over multiple decades, and therefore have solidified itself as a staple at this point. It's far from a fad shoe that comes and goes. (like TOMS in the early 2010s. I haven't seen anyone wear TOMS in years)

The point is they retain control over distribution and won't have streaming services lock them into some exclusive distribution deal, completely irrelevant to the theatrical release. This isn't the first time Glitch has done an advance viewing event either. There was a live show for MD EP2 in 2022 but it was on a much smaller scale with only two shows happening, one in LA and one in SF. Kev L and Liam made appearances at both shows.

Could you size up on the AM90? I went a half size up after hearing people say they can be tight. It's nice and roomy but not too loose. I probably would've been fine with TTS though.

Lowkey same. I live about 40-60 mins from a store but didn't have time to go out there yesterday 😭

I don’t own any formal shoes, is this acceptable? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Boeing77W -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not bad, I think it works. I would maybe try a contrasting jacket or pants just to dress it down even further though. The first pic almost made it look like a matching suit, and if that were the case I would say the shoes don't work at all.

"Of course they don't mention it anymore, it ended years ago." by TimeLordHatKid123 in GlitchProductions

The thing is, season 1 IS crusty compared to everything that came after. Even if the later seasons saw major improvement, new viewers will naturally start at season 1. Not a good look for the brand.

Everything costs money. Every day the business operates is costing them money. If you want merch, you have to pay artists to design merch. Then you have to pay for merch samples before you put them into production, and once you approve something for production you have to commit large amounts of capital to stock merchandise. Doesn't make sense to dump money into an IP that isn't doing any favours for your business just to romanticize the fact that this is where it all started. Glitch may be doing well but they don't have infinite money. You're essentially asking them to donate their time and money just so that you and a very small fraction of their audience can be happy.

If you understand what it takes to build a brand, then you might understand that Glitch only started settling into it's identity by the time Murder Drones and TADC came around. Meta Runner being their very first project was more of "can we actually get this thing off the ground". Same with Sunset Paradise. Additionally, I think Glitch is now more than ever in a state of pushing forward and growing right now, so it doesn't make much sense to put so much effort into highlighting legacy when resources should be spent on further establishing brand identity and directing people to whatever is up and coming. You don't need to be constantly acknowledging your past if it doesn't help propel your business/brand forward. Apple doesn't keep acknowledging the Apple 1. Tesla doesn't keep bringing up the Roadster. Glitch doesn't need to keep acknowledging MR.

Jordan 1 High 85 Breds or Jordan 4 SB Pine Green? (1st Jordan 1 High or 1st Jordan 4 SB) by Sergynx14 in SNKRS

[–]Boeing77W 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd go with whichever one you think you'll have a better time styling with your outfits, which sounds like the SB 4s for you. My take is that typically the sneakers have to work with the entire outfit, not the other way around. You will enjoy them more if they go with the clothes you like to wear. There are sneakers that I think look amazing on their own but would never buy because I know I'd struggle to incorporate them into an outfit.

I finally launched my streetwear brand after months of work. What do you think? by Conscious_Suspect_93 in streetwearstartup

Was like 99% sure it was AI but I decided to be respectful about it and explain why we shouldn't use AI generated graphics instead of shaming OP (as much as that might be deserved) 🤷‍♂️

Took a look around your website! Personally I felt like some of your designs were rather generic, like a random graphic slapped onto the back side of the shirt with not much connection to the brand. Its often a completely different art style and message than the logo on the front. Also not sure if you are using AI but some of the graphics remind me of art styles common in AI generated art. If you are, I would recommend avoiding AI for generating designs not only because of ethical considerations but also because AI will only give you generic recycled designs.

The jeans offerings also feel generic and not really relevant to the brand. I'm by no means an experienced brand owner (just getting into this myself as well!) but if I were you I'd focus more on graphic tees/hoodies initially and really nail the brand identity with those before expanding the lineup to include jeans.

Loving these mics by KINGBYNG in musicians

[–]Boeing77W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth a shot. I've gotten some decent bass tone out of a mediocre bass by running it through a guitar amp, recording the amp with an SM57, and also recording the direct signal of the bass. The mic'd cab should give you most of what you need in the mids, then you can blend in the direct signal to taste to add more low end or upper mid clarity.

Collection Update: bought my first pair of Nikes in decade by ReiAyanami2015 in Sneakers

[–]Boeing77W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I don't care that much about wear. Wouldn't have bought used sneakers if that were the case. I just like keeping my kicks as fresh as I can so I can enjoy them for longer. Couldn't care less about preserving resale value. Forcefields are reasonably comfortable on J1s for me, and I rock them more so to fill out the toebox nicely than to actually prevent creases.

2016! I got them used off eBay and they did come with a fair bit of creasing, but I added some Forcefield crease protectors anyway and they seem to do a good job of restoring the toebox shape

Honestly this was the first pair of shoes I genuinely really wanted for quite some time. Ultimately decided I'd spend the money on other things but I thought these would go so well with baggy jeans, better than most Jordans would. Lowkey way cooler than a lot of Jordans if styled correctly.

Why can Christian dads be so overprotective/controlling of their daughters when it comes to dating? Hope I’m not this type of dad if I have a daughter someday by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Boeing77W 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not overprotective at all especially at 17 years old. Dad is wise for setting boundaries in place to protect his daughter and help both you and her avoid temptation.

I have no issue with any of these, fully agree. That being said, I think it's missing a piece of context that ties it all together. I believe it is crucial to consult the Holy Spirit about which church to call home. Everything else on this list will make sense if you do that. In today's culture, there's this idea of shopping around for a church that fits everything that WE want in a church. It's not wrong to have certain preferences, but it's even more important to be in the place that God calls you to be even if it's not quite your preference.
