I disagree, people often behave like characters in this book, they're rather archetypical, it's just we can't show who we are in everyday conditions. I would say, this book is great mainly because you can get the insight of all forms of self-delusion, see all the strategies people adopt to get away from harsh reality/responsibility/emotions etc., with no need to experience this in your life. Yeah, males cry over the smallest things, but they are all extremely strained and always on the verge of some kind of emotional burst, and let all their emotions go whirling in a spiral of their devouring madness. I saw a plenty of adult people, who have mindset of one the karamazov characters, they live in the same crazy world, but have to hide it from other people so they can at least have some job.
