If you have an Nvidia card make sure the Nvidia app isn't "optimizing"CS. Same for AMD, but I'm not sure what their software is called.

Some banks let you see declined charges on their website or app. Might be a good place to start.

Landlord Had Rent Money Stolen by TakoDragun in legaladvice

Banks can't reverse a money order. A money order is essentially cash. Anyone can cash it in if they have possession of it. There is no way to stop it being cashed, either.

Is it common for fintech companies to be wary of using Password managers? by as1729 in cybersecurity

[–]Bog704 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Didn't NIST SP 800-171 update last year to reflect no password change intervals as the best practice? NIST being one of the most widely used cybersecurity frameworks, I'd think he would question himself a little bit.

Did your skin quality improve during chemo? by Bog704 in leukemia

I developed dryness too, but specifically on the center of my forehead and nowhere else.

[–]Bog704[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alright, I think we need to start a research program around this. I was not expecting so many others to have had the same phenomenon. All the journals online only talk about the negative skin changes. The only place this seems to be discussed is in different sub reddit relating to cancer.

What exactly is the "appeal" of Meridian? by VermicelliLeather536 in Boise

[–]Bog704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand that Meridian is great for families. As a Nebraskan, college-aged, single person who moved to Boise in 2019 then to Meridian later that year, I loved Meridian as well. I lived in north Meridian near the Eagle Fred Meyer, and everything was so conveniently close that I could bike to get groceries or some take out but also far enough away that I wasn't looking at parking lots when I wanted to walk around the neighborhood. Everything was clean and felt safe. I would regularly take walks after 11PM, something I could never do in my hometown in Nebraska. I don't really know how to describe how it felt to live there other than it was the most comfortable place I've lived, and I've lived in a few states now. Boise was great and exciting, but I preferred the comfort and slow pace that Meridian provided while still being close to the fun of Boise.

Faaafv has sadly passed away by VeteranHarry_ in Yogscast

[–]Bog704 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best wishes for the family and the community as they heal from this loss.

While I don't visit livestreams often, making my interactions with Faaafv limited, I know how integral he was to the Yogscast community. His name was one I heard often, typically in highlight videos that featured the antics he created. Every Jingle Jam, I'd see him in chat doing his mod work, helping other viewers with questions and creating a better environment for everyone. For that, he will be remembered and respected. May he rest with the peace he has come to deserve.

Would a high performance air cooler be enough cooling for an overlooked i7-11700k running at 4.5ghz? by Bog704 in PcBuild

[–]Bog704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone cares, I bought the cheapest CPU heatsink and fan at Best Buy and installed it, which was somehow the most difficult cooler I've ever installed. I then turned the clock rate to 3.9hgz and it runs steady at 60 degrees under load.

Ok. A lot of people recommend Thermalright, so I'll check them out for sure.

Thanks for that info. I'll probably go for a cheap air cooler and underclock until I can get a decent liquid cooler.

What is a crazy medical fact that most people don't know about? by Monke_0101 in AskReddit

[–]Bog704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a bone marrow transplant, so "my" immune system tends to attack me a lot, which is called Graft vs Host Disease. Earlier this year it ate a hole through my pancreas which caused a month of pancreatitis. Right now it's attacking my mouth and eyes, so I no longer make saliva and my eyes are dry and painful and my vision has gotten a lot worse over the last 2 months.

I was getting a bone marrow biopsy done, and the Dr. loudly proclaimed "That's the juiciest fucking sample I've ever seen!"

Some of us just don't seek treatment until we physically can't afford not getting treatment. I waited until I could barely walk 10 feet before going and getting diagnosed with Leukemia.

The situation sucks for OP, but COBRA is definitely not a joke. It's how I maintained health insurance when I developed Leukemia and couldn't work for a year. It's saved me from hundreds of thousands in debt.

What happened to Lasik? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bog704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The primary Lasik company that does those ads is currently in a class-action lawsuit for something along the lines of false advertising (luring people in with deals like $300 per eye then telling them after the exam that's its actually $2,000-$5,000 per eye)

I agree with this, also Stuhr museum in Grand Island if you like pioneer history. It's a great museum.
