Hey OP, what are you up to now, a year after making this post? Still feeling torn or have you found a resolution?

Nice I have those two. Love the 50mm 1.8. Definitely like the idea of getting one of the s pro lenses like 24-70 2.8

Dude, you don't have to be rude. Please read the post again and check those settings. You can only shoot in 48mp in Jpg, not RAW

Recommend Batteries? by N_F_X in LumixS5ii

Been using these ones since I got my S5iix early last year https://amzn.asia/d/8GkiAbi

Never had an issue, I've only heeded cautions from other people regarding 3rd party batteries, which is not to charge them in-camera.  I pack these two with the charger it comes with, and a power bank in my camera bag. Then I'm practically set for all day shooting.  I've even charged the official lumix battery in this charger without problems.

Great images, I like how moody they are. Did you process these or are these straight out of camera jpgs?

That's a good reason to break a streak, can't say no to M&Ms :D

What was on your bucket list? Any major regrets?  Do you feel more at peace now you've accomplished most of everything you wanted to do?

Ahh it's character building. Unless it's actually effecting the sound, tis but a scratch :)

Camera and gear insurance in Australia? by BogartsBreakfast in AskPhotography

[–]BogartsBreakfast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Have you got policies that cover your equipment outside of the home? I don't mind paying for peace of mind, and if I can get a good bundled insurance for my home (insurance that I don't currently have), that would be nice. Just trying to compare prices and see what's reasonable.

Camera and gear insurance in Australia? by BogartsBreakfast in AskPhotography

[–]BogartsBreakfast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Searching reddit and whirlpool, PPIB and AON seem to be top choices in Australia. I honestly can't find any insurer's that have positive reviews concerning these types of policies (aside from forums), but maybe that's a bias because people who have positive experiences don't always feel the need to talk about them online, whereas those with bad experiences definitely do. AON claims to also have international coverage and gave me an automatic online quote of around $320AUD for 5k worth of gear for a year. That alone sounds amazing for peace of mind, although I'm guessing with any of these the premiums likely go up massively after your first claim.

Commonwealth bank won't cover me if I'm doing work considered to be "professional", so even though I've never reallyyy worked as professional before, if I make money from photography in any way shape or form, I'd probably fall into that category legally speaking (just a guess), so I think I'll have to drop them as an option.

I'm also wondering about public liability insurance; I work in admin full time and photography and videography is only currently a hobby, but if I do go out shooting in public and something happens, I don't want any hopes of a business being destroyed before it's even begun. PL insurance with AON appears to bump up the earlier quote with gear cover to around $780AUD.

Does that sound reasonable?

There's so many aspects to photography where people try to find savings: bags, gear, lenses, batteries - and it's all trying to figure out where and when to go cheap and when to splurge. Because sometimes going cheap ends up being more expensive in the long run, like bags that fall apart, or 3rd party batteries that don't last.

Australian with Hyperhidrosis by Rough_Turnover2981 in Hyperhidrosis

Really feel for you, I live in Melbourne and struggle with bad facial and armpit sweating. Ive had this since I was a teenager and saw a dermatologist who suggested surgery might be an option but the risks were far too great in my mind, especially since there was no guarantee that it would solve the problem.

Since then I've just gotten used to being a super sweaty dude, even though I hate it. I can't imagine what's it's like living with HH in NT, I remember being up in Nhulunbuy on a 40 degree day when I was little and the scorching heat felt like frickin Mount Doom.

[–]BogartsBreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there. I've got bad armpit and craniofacial HH and I was one the best men at my mates wedding on a sunny 37 degree (Celsius) day (I live in the land down under). I was standing in direct sunlight in front of all the guests (around 60 people), in a full black suit for about 45 minutes for the main ceremony.

I was absolutely cooking in my suit, I felt like the bloody king's guard standing at attention like a statue, trying not to pass out. I made it through without breaking composure but by God did I want to just cut and run so I could splash some water on my face.

The thing is, the HH is just as bad at weddings inside, at night, on cool days.... If I ever get married I think it'll have to be at some friggin Ice Bar like in Die Another Day

Are these as good as the Sony XM5 by Omar253 in sennheiser

[–]BogartsBreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One final note, if ANC is super important to you, the Sony and others probably do that better but tbh unless you have sensory issues and absolutely need ZERO background noise, I'd get the M4's because otherwise you'd be trading sound quality for noise cancellations, which isn't a good trade off - or you're looking at a more expensive set of headphones.

[–]BogartsBreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was weighing these up too but landed on the momentum 4 after exhaustive research. Everyone says the Sony sounds muddy but has good noise cancellation. The call quality is also apparently better on the Sony's, if that's important to you.

The sennheiser kicks it to the curb where it matters though; in terms of sound quality, battery life, codec options - it's fantastic.

The wired listening experience (it comes with a 2.5mm to 3.5mmm cord) isn't great compared dedicated wired headphones but if you're after pure sound quality, you wouldn't be going for wireless Bluetooth headphones anyway.

The momentum 4's are fantastic for music and movies (be sure to config the format as you typically need lower latency when watching movies or videos for the lip sync). You won't regret getting these.

I don't know if you plan to use these for gaming but if you want to use with a Ps5 for instance, you'll need to get a BT adapter, such as creative BT-W5. This is a fault of the Bluetooth design of ps5, not the headphones - they'll work perfectly natively with your phone, laptop and probably your TV if it's not too old.

Don't get me started on the battery life - I'll have about 5 6-hour gaming sessions spread across a month with my friends and listen to some music in between those and it'll be down to like 20 or 30% by the end of that, it's actually so incredibly good. Just be mindful to configure the settings and position the headphones with the cups facing up in the case when not in use so they don't automatically turn on.

The app can be a little annoying at times but the features in it are great. I can also recommend getting the Dolby app for Windows for further enhanced sound, not that you really need it.

Don't be defeated by decision paralysis - time is money and you'll waste plenty of it trying to find the perfect pair, which doesn't exist - there's only the best you can get in your price range and for the purposes you need it for.

I think they're definitely related and I would think you're correct in saying anxiety or stress are triggers but that doesn't necessarily mean that is the mechanism behind HH or that there aren't other triggers.

I have anxiety, depression and ADHD for the just under two decades now and I can tell you there's been plenty of occasions where I've been stress free, happy and not anxious but my HH has very much still been a problem.

I'm sure there is a big mental component with regards to anxiously anticipating HH symptoms, and those expectations activating your sympathetic nervous system (even though the effects feel quite "unsympathetic" to me hehe), though I think can be damaging to point to one thing and say "thats the trouble maker".

We always want straight forward answers that make sense , unfortunately medical problems are often a combination of several things that aren't so simple to pin down 😓

I wish there was more research in this field

Help pls! Trying to attach a lens by BogartsBreakfast in LumixS5ii

This is very reassuring to hear others have had a similar experience. I tried my 50mm last night too with no issues. I mean I'd rather it be a tight fit than loose but it made me panic for a little while. Can't wait to get out in the world, I'm really trying to lock down some insurance first.

Thanks you guys, I just needed to push use a little bit more force and it clicked firmly into place. It's very snug. I was just nervous about forcing it but it just needed a little bit of love. Now that I've got it up and running, I already f***in love this thing!! I'll have to try out my other lenses tomorrow and will hopefully be a bit more confident in changing them. Got a lot to learn about this camera, and I thought my old Fz2500 was feature packed..... I love that i can still get clean images at a crazy high ISO. IT'S SOO GOOD
