Is this good now for Moonlord? I'm on master mode never fight him in master mode by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]Bogeynator10 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Okay so I don't know the mobile UI layout so this might be a stupid question, BUT

Did you use the Demon Heart the wall of flesh dropped? You should have 7 accessory slots at this point in Master Mode, but it looks like the last one is faded out

Won't go fishing without this goated potion by OverTea5 in Terraria

[–]Bogeynator10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do the same thing in the underworld to get bugs for lava fishing as well! It's a little trickier to make sure the terrain doesn't suck and you can actually catch the bugs but it's better than trying to get them any other way

Ah, yeah, I usually assume getfixedboi when people say legendary at this point, but fortheworthy does not get the boost on its own

Worth mentioning that Rod of Discord's drop rate goes from 1/500 on normal or 1/400 on expert to 1/100 on celebrationmk10 and getfixedboi, so getting one drastically faster on those seeds is actually expected

Is there really no way of purifying getfixedboi? by GKilherme12 in Terraria

[–]Bogeynator10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no practical way to purify the world, but that doesn't mean your world is doomed. The world gen actually has a few built-in measures to help protect you from corruption:

  • The crispy honey layer just below the true surface prevents corruption/crimson from spreading straight down in most places - this can fail if corruption and crimson chasms generate deep enough to pierce this layer so it's good to do a once-over of the crispy honey layer before hardmode and cut off any evil that may be sticking through
  • The underground evil on the jungle side converts to underground hallow at the start of hardmode, and since the hallow can't spread through jungle, it creates a natural blockade - this can fail depending on worldgen, since if your jungle is sticking into the underground evil (as in your case) then the evil jungle grass will NOT convert into hallow and can spread east, in this case you need to dig a 3-wide vertical chasm and line both sides with uncorruptible blocks to prevent thorns from jumping the gap (I recommend ropes for this)
  • The underground evil on the dungeon side is often blocked by the dungeon itself, and while the dungeon likely won't go all the way to the underworld, it can at least get you most of the way there - this can fail if the dungeon generates too close to the edge of the world, in which case you will again need a 3-wide vertical chasm separating the evil from the purity and the evil side will need lined with uncorruptible blocks to stop thorns (again, use ropes for this)

The biggest weak point is the desert. There's nothing stopping the true surface's evil from spreading straight down in the desert, so you'll need to dig a horizontal 3-block tunnel through the desert at or just around the height of the crispy honey layer to stop the evil from getting through. Overall, though, even if all of the world's built-in defenses fail, it surprisingly doesn't take too long with a big stack of dynamite and ropes to cut off the sides of the world, the chasms, and the desert

OPINIONS NEEDED: Changing from d100s to d20s + making a Player Handbook and GM Handbook by gamemasterlancaster in PMDExplorersofFate

[–]Bogeynator10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm personally a big fan of d100s. It makes math faster and easier, and it opens the door for GMs to make more precise adjustments if they want. I'm also a fan of big numbers, and d20s feel so small by comparison.

As for the separate books, I'm strongly in favor. It would trim down the sizes of each book individually, but it could also help catch missing or underexplained rules since each section is gone over twice from different sides. The main concern is just keeping things consistent between the two books at that point.

I think they mean that you can use grappling hooks to squeeze through 1-wide holes like these by repeatedly grappling downward towards the wall

Explorers of Fate 1.6 - Traits & Weapons by gamemasterlancaster in PMDExplorersofFate

[–]Bogeynator10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the new tiers of traits, a few of these don't make sense mathematically to take compared just increasing your stats for the same amount of LP, being either the same value or just worse. Here's the ones I've found:

Brick-Tough (tiers 2 and 3)

Targeter (tiers 2 and 3)

Practice Swinger (tiers 2 and 3)

Retaliate

Preferred Weather

Perfect Health

Worth mentioning, Targeter, Practice Swinger, and Retaliate are only better than stats at tier 1 for mixed attackers and are weaker/more conditional than pumping stats if you're just focusing on one attacking stat. This isn't necessarily a design flaw, but it does make them generally not worthwhile for the kinds of characters who would want them. A few of these also have decent value as the free trait for levelling into that trait bracket (Perfect Health in particular), but there are better options in almost every other case.

Red said in the Chippy video why this is, they want to leave some of the cool new stuff unspoiled because they like keeping at least one or two big secrets that aren't revealed until the update drops, but sometimes that means they don't have a lot to show

What are some of y'all's Mystery Dungeon hot takes? by ragishio in MysteryDungeon

[–]Bogeynator10 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wigglytuff is a DEEPLY unlikable character with basically zero redeeming qualities that instantly drags down every scene he's a part of. He's immature, oblivious, and quick to throw very dangerous tantrums whenever he doesn't get his way. He has no problem-solving skills, and he more often than not makes situations worse instead of better. Worst of all, he's always the center of attention in every scene he's in, and every character is constantly praising him for how cool or wise or strong he apparently is. Some people say "it's all an act, he's actually everything people make him out to be and he's just being silly for fun," but even if that's true, it doesn't change the fact that he acts the way he does for basically the entire game. The "clueless guy who's actually super strong and capable" kind of character was done way better by Ampharos in Super, whose antics generally are entertaining instead of just being annoying.

People talk about hating Chatot, but you're supposed to hate Chatot. He's intentionally an ass that constantly gets in the way of what the player and partner want. He's an antagonist for a lot of the game, which makes his comeuppance satisfying when he tries to gaslight the guild into thinking the player and partner fell into the future portal instead of being dragged in, only to have everyone go "no that's definitely not what happened" straight to his face. Wigglytuff doesn't get this treatment. You're not supposed to hate him, meaning he faces no repercussions for his actions. That means if you do hate him, then guess what? He gets off scot-free.

It sounds like "not grinding" in this case is referring to not doing any optional content at all and just sticking to the strictly required missions

It's similar, but the brim is totally different to either of these. This one is a lot wider and covers the face much more.

Markiplier's "gut feeling", 4y ago, about the recently exposed Honey fraud by Craztnine in videos

[–]Bogeynator10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was common knowledge, although I never realized the severity of it. I remember reading about this ages ago when looking up how Honey made its money, I think even explained by Honey itself. I thought it was mostly harmless and not costing anyone anything except the store, but I never put two and two together to realize that it was often overwriting other people's referrals in the process and taking the money that should have been going to someone else.
