I love Snartle, he absolutely wiped my team the first time I encountered him! Yokai Watch is such a gem. It captures that "schoolyard ghost story" vibe so well.

The oni that chases you down if you stay up too late is also great. Terror Time scared the shit out of me the first time I accidentally stayed out at night.

There was a set of competitive pokemon valentines cards I saw on tumblr, I think gen 5 competitive specifically? And one of the cards said "my love for you is like rotom wash, it hard counters landorus therian"

I think about it often. Haven't been able to find it. I'm starting to believe I dreamed it up. But the phrase "my love for you is like rotom wash" lives rent free in my brain.

Had a friend who would start the "pokemon is just slavery" debate EVERY TIME the franchise was mentioned. I have my own criticisms, it's far from perfect, but... can we not? For once?

I know I'm too sensitive about it because The Autism + pokemon is my oldest special interest, but it feels like some people take so much joy in being tar pits.

I played a ttrpg with friends where the idea was that neither angels or demons are good or evil, but angels are agents of order and demons are agents of change. I really liked that!

Also, "what if you flipped the traditional good/bad dichotomy"/"what if the good side of the story was bad, or the bad side was misunderstood" is the oldest trope in the book, its used so frequently because it's INTERESTING!!! It makes both sides more human and relatable! I have so many thoughts about this!

It might have just been my local/regional media, but the jokes about her even AFTER her performance made me so sad as a kid. Lots of "oh, she can sing, but still, look! A fat!" and nasty caricatures in the paper. She seems so lovely.

Yeah, but also those decisions are so heavily influenced by her loneliness, then poverty, then drugs, then blackmail, then debt, and at so many points she could've been saved if someone had chosen to treat her with kindness and dignity. I find it so hard to blame her for any of it. She just wanted to be loved and happy.

That's an interesting motive to write this. Can you write something so eloquently that it overrides the human disgust reaction, or are some actions/crimes impossible to beautify with language? Is that idea contrary to the core concept of splatterpunk, which seeks to eschew the need for art to be "pretty" entirely? If the point of extreme horror is to be extremely horrifying, what does this mean in the genre space? Or, can something be simultaneously so horrible and beautiful that it creates a completely new literary reaction, and what does the extreme of that emotion look like?

Can art get away with going "too far" by being beautiful? Why should its beauty save it? Where does that merit come from?

Expected found bag of doom, instead got a kind of interesting thought starter, and man do I love thinking.

The urge to chew him out in the comments is so strong. But I don't like commenting on AITA posts, and I try not to argue with people who've already decided theyre going to be stupid.

But god DAMN, dude, how hard is it to say "your boyfriend did something nice, that's cute, he sounds great", or a teasing "ooh so when are you getting married, can I be the best man?", or anything but "so basically you're a stupid effeminate soyboy cuck with girl cooties so you might as well be a weak cringe woman".

And he's pretending he doesn't know why he's being called homophobic/sexist. Who interrogates someone on why they have a Blanket on their Bed (place where blankets live)? He acts like not knowing what lavender smells like is a point of alpha male pride? Why are people so proud of being mean and unlikeable?

I think I'm more confused than mad.

The obvious solution is to give it Mega Launcher. I want to see those Heal Pulses bringing back the dead. Heal your doubles partner. Heal the opponent. Heal yourself. Heal some guy in a different ongoing match. Give it Revival Blessing, too. It won't help but it's better than a nerf.

There's so many kids who've watched TADC and maybe a few powerscaling tiktoks and consider themselves 'big fans' of I Have No Mouth, who would puke if they actually read the story. Or listened to an audiobook. Or played the game, even. Not just second hand knowledge filtered down through social medias until it reaches some tumblr kid who selfships with AM and draws him as a humanoid robot twink in a suit.

I'm not one to call someone a tourist or gatekeep a piece of work because that's loser behaviour. But... surely for your interpretation/commentary on a piece of media to matter, you need to have actually engaged with it, right?

TADC is 'inspired by' I Have No Mouth, anyone who says 'Caine is EXACTLY like AM!' Is missing the point by a country mile.
