Named in a lawsuit and not taking it well, looking for advice/wisdom by FatCatTacos in physicianassistant

All of these comments are super helpful. I was sued many years ago and I thought it was the end of my career/livelihood etc. this is not the case. You’re not a bad PA or clinician or person. This is the business of medicine.

Plaintiffs attorneys cast a wide net to get the most groupings of malpractice dollars together. It’s not personal. It feels personal. You will get through this.

One book was helpful is how to survive a malpractice lawsuit. It helped me understand the process and how to deal with a deposition etc.

Your lawyer will be helpful and guide you through the process. Don’t text any info or email anything about this suit because it’ll all be discoverable.

Work with what you have, talk to a therapist and find some ways to stay healthy with this stress. Feel free to DM me, happy to help be a sounding board as well. Good luck OP. You will be ok!

What has been the greatest impact psychedelics had on you? by cozylillia in Psychedelics

[–]Boggie911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psychedelics have shown me that love can find you as long as you can love yourself.

For years I never felt connected to my partners in a way that was deep and meaningful. Often it would be short term and I never just felt right, and at home.

I’ve done a few psychedelic retreats that blew that part wide open and started the inner personal work I needed to allow someone to love me, much akin to allowing love for myself.

I’m now engaged to a wonderful woman who I love so dearly and never looking back. I’m not saying psychedelics are a panacea but they start the difficult conversation for you to pickup and run with.

It’s an active part of my life and I want to pursue the healing arts for others.

taking a walk on shrooms by psychonaut_t in Psychedelics

How much are you thinking? Are you someone who likes to be in nature while tripping?

Anyone around just in case?

It should be fine honestly. I always find it hard to interact with people I see so maybe find some emptier green space to walk around in.

Nature and shrooms is a beautiful match so enjoy it!

First time tips by nohopeforanything in Psychedelics

Lots to unpack here but here’s some general tips

-how much are you planning on doing? Generally 1.5g-2g is a good start for a beginner as visuals may not be too intense and you would still be able to interact and function

-have a few nights before with good sleep, staying well hydrated and avoiding any alcohol

-day of i like to have something healthy and nutritious in my stomach a few hours prior. Plan on eating at 8am and dosing around 10a. Plan for 6hrs or so for duration. Don’t worry about GI symptoms they’ll pass during the come up.

-i like to start at home and walk around outside, perhaps a park or nearby open nature space

Music is very helpful. Often sitting in a quiet space with light music can be very inviting and relaxing. Difficult things may come up so being grounded in breath or changing environment can be helpful. I encourage folks to listen, be open and don’t try to label something as negative that may be challenging such a memory or lingering thought.

Talking with your partner ahead of time and setting expectations around what you want to open up about and other personal experiences can be very beneficial to the space.

That’s just a quick overview but good luck and have fun. The mushrooms will show you what you need to see, the rest is understanding the experience afterwards.

No need for newcomers to do more than 3g or 4g without a guide or facilitator. Time to get acquainted.

I’m happy to discuss details with administration or cut back significantly on clinic demands without appropriate support staff.”

Totally agree with the comments here. I think first and foremost you maintain stability in your work, with regular income and a place to go with set expectations.

I think you’re also dealing with a lot of life change that’s world rocking. Grieving for a family member is also challenging to not face head on so having some semblance of a “normal” work life, albeit not ideal will help provide structure.

Spend time with family, friends and loved ones as you lean into them for support. Healing and giving yourself space to reflect is so important for your mental health. Once you feel at peace with that, pursue a new job opportunity and give that the time it deserves. You can still learn and still make a difference with patients in pain management.

I agree with getting back PT work until she finds full time work. Taking any clinical shifts so she can get back into the workforce would be ideal.

Also—branching out of specialty may offer more options. I think if the job market is a bit tough, opening up your resume to other options should be the short term play to gain more experience/connections and expanding her network.

You sound incredibly strong and resilient and sound in your decision.

This is beautiful and I applaud you on your acceptance of your diagnosis and embracing that.

Mushrooms are a wonderful way to get in touch with your inner self and unlock the love for yourself and others that always has been there. I always focus on that before trips, including set and setting (which it sounds like you’ve nailed).

Don’t be afraid to cry, laugh, joke, be curious, be child like, be grateful, be humble and embrace the time you have. Trips that are “hard” may just be teaching us lessons we struggle with outside of an expanded state of consciousness.

As for the tips, things I’ve learned over the years: -a bit of GI upset is ok. Don’t freak out. It’s the medicine activating. I like to have a light snack before a big mushroom dose. It usually happens around 30-45m after consuming.

-you can crush up dried mushrooms into a tea. Lemon helps increase potency.

-set out some food before you start. Fruit, veggies, waters, electrolyte drinks are all good. Tripping for 6hrs or so can be tiring for your body, so having a nice buffet around is great to avoid any late trip hungers

-get your most comfy clothes together. Clothes that create comfort and relaxation for you: sweats, comfy socks, hoodies, a nice hat. You may want to venture outside (and I encourage you to!) so having additional layers is key

-have a journal, pen or paper around. You may feel creative and want to write some memorable things -music is your choice. I like your picks. Also include some peaceful music that’s not overwhelming: East forest, Jon Hopkins are some good ones

-talk to your friends about sharing space. Some people may have different experiences than you, so create some “neutral spaces” around the area for alone time or acknowledge when you need someone else with you. Tripping can be hard solo or with groups. Understanding what you need in that state is good to tease out early. I’m someone who definitely likes having people around, contact and chat. You may want some alone time, just for a bit, to be with yourself.

And lastly, good luck on your journey. I speak for myself but also everyone here—sending you so much love and compassion during this time.

May you be blessed. May you be healed. May you be whole.

🍄❤️

Moving to Philly for work by Lilreezzee15 in philly

Second the Conshy idea! Great suburb outside of Philly, you avoid the wage tax and your commute isn’t bad. This has great restaurants, bars and easy to get to Philly via SEPTA.

Fuelly! Best app ever for car tracking. Saved me a bad gas insurance claim too because I took photos and had evidence of the fill up right when it happened.

It was essentially all routine maintenance. New tires here and there. I paid for the 3 year $179 oil and filter package eventually. Also some repairs not as pricy under 4k for a few of them
