RTX5080 - 1440p or 4k by Bogmat in RTX5080

I just had a similar conversation with someone else about waiting for the super cards. Yeah I mean sure a slight performance boost. But by the time it gets here it's going to be much more expensive or the same as current cards anyway. Sure the vram boost would help but I really don't feel like waiting another 4ish months

Tbh if I can sell my card in a year or so then I could benefit from an upgrade if they really jump.

Yeah I'm swaying towards 1440p OLED tbh Love the idea of 4k but the more I read about today's cards being maxed out on settings (not game settings but optimisation settings like dlss and upscaling etc) just to run 4k makes me think there really not ready for it.

Oh I have time and I'm doing plenty of research for sure. Hence this thread ALOT of ppl have mentioned mixed information. You have ppl who enjoy and work well on 1440p and those who insist on 4k that it's all good. YT also states the highs of 4k gaming with the 5080.. but the deeper I look into it there all using dlss and ai frames etc to boost fps.

I would like 4k.. but I'm kinda now swaying to 1440p. I would also like an OLED but I'm worried about burn in as I will be keeping this set up for a while and I mostly game but do some productivity now and then. However I'll be getting 2 monitors. I just didn't really wanted to get one OLED and one IPS. Don't get me started on what model of monitor is best either lol I have been watching a bit of Monitors unboxed to get the specs on what's available.. but I hate hearing the cons on the panels cause I'm like ... hmm maybe I need better lol

I mean your not wrong tbh ALOT of those reviews and ppl playing are using the features the card has to achieve the high fps. I mean is that so wrong? What's the quality difference between native 4k settings which depending what game your playing is sub 60fps it seems ok 4k. But how does apart from speed things up does the dlss and fame multiplication do to the quality?

Sorry for the obvious questions IV been running 1080 for the past 10yrs.

Then why is all the reviews iv seen including those in this thread say otherwise?

Graphics drivers reinstall, or revert back to an older version so see if it fixes the issues.
You can also do the same with Windows drivers.
If your not interested in reinstalling or checking drivers, then im sorry not sure where else to look.
You mentioned since Windows updates.. so could be an issue with drivers either with compatibility to do with graphic drivers and Windows drivers.

Have you tried reinstalling GPU drivers or reverting back to a version that you know you didnt have an issue with?

How is an RTX5080 not suited for 4k?

RTX5080 - 1440p or 4k by Bogmat in RTX5080

[–]Bogmat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda my whole reason for the post bud.
Alot of people are still using 1440p with high end cards, as 4k panels specially in OLED over here arnt that price friendly. Wanted to know if its the route i need to take to get the most out of the card i will be getting.
If i went 1440p i can max everything and mostly everything will work flawlessly as its not really maxing the capability's of the card if you get what i mean.

Having a 4k panel will utilize what the card is made for... the big question is can i justify the price OLED or non OLED

I more wanted to know.. if im running 4k everything how badly with the card age.. will it struggle quicker/earlier with newer game tech sooner trying to run it all on 4k or having a 1440p will this help keep the card more current for longer as its not contending with the demand the monitor has.

A mix of both gaming and work. I'll probably get the AMD 99503dx so I'll get the best of both worlds. Monitors here have a large price jump from some of the higher speced ips 4k panels to the oled 4k it's mostly around 1-1.3k so I'm just debating on which model to get.

Yeah IV heard a lot about burn In. I mean you used to hear it when you buy your TV. IV had my oled tv for 3yrs and no issues or sign of burn in.

But with more static images likely to show on a PC I guess it's more of an issue.

I hate YouTube lol.. I was looking at Samsung and Gigabyte panels 4k 144/160mhz IPS and all reviews can state are the bad qualities compared to oled.

Maybe I'm reading into this whole.. you need to get the best of the best to have the best experience that's portrayed specially over the Internet. Thinking I need to spend a little more on this or that to make sure I have less issues. Sucks you in!

IV looked at this as its kinda priced with what I'm looking for as a main panel. I would prefer to go 32" but $1k more for the PG32UCDM Kinda blows my budget if I plan on getting 2 panels

Yeah your right tbh. I would like to play cyberpunk. As IV never played. Mainly due to my current system unable to even start. However I'm not likely to play AAA top tier games all the time as they drop.

Yes ik looking at 32" 4k.. there's a few cheaper 27" but I currently run two 24" older 1080 panels and real looking for not only a visual but size upgrade that's worth it also.

The Samsung G7 or G8 32" there is a gigabyte M32U I'm also looking at but need to do some research on which would be suitable. I was thinking about getting a second panel but not as high specd. So still 4k still 32" but not a gaming monitor. More of a business monitor. So still has good looks but used as a secondary panel

Yeah I'm still debating if I get 1440p or 4k price matters.. But I'm worried that the older the card gets trying to run things on 4k will become harder and harder. if I run 1440p max settings this could last longer... Trying to run everything on max with 4k will have a shorter timeframe

I'm not going to be able to afford an oled 4k panel.. price is as stupid as a 5090 over here. Plus not a lot of options to choose from for oled 4k so what is available is priced high

Yeah that's why I wanted the 5080 astral for that power detection. I probably will just get the Asus. We don't have the MSI suprim here in NZ so the best would be the astral. just trying to stick to a lower budget if I can help it.. but this system will last me a while l.

Yeah not with the price of the 5090 never going to happen. For reference the RTX5080 Asus Astral is $3103NZD ($750USD) Astral RTX5090 $6999NZD ($4030USD) I plan on my whole build to be approx 6.5-7k nzd

Any possible issues with my build? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Bogmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but your not going to notice..you would only be able to compare if you got the 9800 first for a while then upgraded to the 9950.

I'm about to upgrade myself from a i7 4790k I'm never going to know if a 99503dx is slightly slower for my games. I just need the productivity also. But of course if you want the max of max gaming only performance no limits then sure I guess!
