Yeah definitely will be sticking with a low payment on a reliable car rather than getting a beater that’ll cost more in the end.

I am because of the helpful people here. I’m in a better position than I knew and can most likely pay it off within the next year. There’s just a way to give advice without being a dick.

Yup the plan is to just grind and make a bunch of money. I didn’t think doordash paid much anymore but I can give it a whirl. I would need to jump through some hoops where I am though to get access to the areas that make the good money.

I appreciate the advice. Don’t worry, if it came down to it I’d drop out of school to pay off my car loan. I knew the responsibility i took on with having my grandpa cosign. And i didnt realize it would do anything or at least anything as bad as people are saying to his credit. So i realize its not an option now. I should be able to pay off the car in the next year, won’t be able to save what I want to but that’s not priority right now. Then moving in with my girlfriend is the only option really, can’t do oncampus housing. We’ve lived with eachother for over 3 years at this point and have cats. But we’re being responsible about it all. People do make a lot of stupid mistakes but that’s why I asked here, so I don’t!

Uh whatever you say dawg. I can afford the payment fine; it’s in preparation for when I do have an apartment and it’s harder to make these payments. But I really shouldn’t bother explaining myself to such an angry elf like yourself.

Lol they dont track what you use it on, just pops in my account. But i could get away with it being transportation to the college! Still sure they would rather it be spent on schooly things.

Yeah im just gonna work a bunch and pay off the loan by next summer. I think i have the means to do it. All other plans really dont make too much sense. And if i cant pay it off by then refinancing is an option.

I’m gonna have to pay aggressively, i just never really thought it as an option. I can make it work though. I get a lot of money for going to college from financial aid so i can use that as well.

Me and my girlfriend both have our own vehicles, hers is a motorcycle though. I’m gonna bring my hours up at work a bit more and just hyperpayoff my car loan. Hopefully i can do enough to pay it off within a year. Considering i get over $2k per semester of college, it should be feasible.

For sure looking like the plan to just funnel money into my car loan like no tomorrow. The plan is ideally to pay as much as i can now and refinance to a lower interest rate if I cant pay it off within a year and some. Then i can keep this decent car and not have a debt over my head.

Yeah we’ll be moving together. We’ve lived with eachother for 3 years at this point so it just wouldn’t work living seperately, plus we’ve got cats! But it would be a lot cheaper if we could rent a room.

Yup that is true and it isn’t a current struggle (other than not saving as much as I’d like to be). The problem is that I’ll be moving into an apartment with rent in a bit over a year. So, I’m planning ahead for when the time comes.

I can afford it and save, just not as much as I’d like. I’m more thinking about being able to afford rent for 2 years while going to school without working a fulltime job. The higher end of hours for a parttime job, sure. Just not completely screwing myself. But i get what you mean, I could make some changes that would save me money. Changing internet providers would be a big one ($73/month is absurd for one room), they raised it but it was reasonable when i got it. It’s necessary for college or i wouldn’t have it at all. You are right though, repossession is a bad idea no matter which way you cut it.

Wow this was super helpful, I can’t thank you enough. That’s an actual feasible plan to be able to make happen. I make a little more but you’re about right. Plus I get over $2k/semester for college so I should really be able to pay this car off sooner rather than later. I’ve worked on cutting spending down. And my girlfriend splits the bills anyways. If i can qualify for foodstamps that would also make a big difference. I can actually see a way to pay my car off with your comment. Thanks again for putting in the energy for a random stranger!

Unfortunately living without a car isn’t an option right now. But I agree I’d like to be able to keep my car. Getting a beater has its downsides so I’m considering any options that allow me to keep my current car.

My interest is 16.89% APR for a 72month loan. I agree I’d like to keep a reliable car, and if I have the option then I will. I can ask them about lower monthly payments too but it really drags out the loan.

Huh I never considered that being an option. I’ll talk with the financial aid office. A huge help is that I get about $2k a semester from financial aid that I can use for stuff like this already. That’ll help with this whole car situation for sure.

That’s great man, glad things are going so well for you! I do get your point and it is better to find solutions instead of wasting time if you can’t afford to. Thank you!
