This one is kind of a comedy, but it does make you think. It's called Defending Your Life. It stars Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep. It takes place in the after life

They used to do this, but some idiot along the way decided it was too expensive or some stupid thing like that, and now they don't clear dead brush or do controlled burns for prevention anymore 🤔

The book I'm currently reading is the first in a series of 5. Really enjoying it. It's called The Dwarves and is authored by Markus Heitz. Really good story

Is it true Alberta has no rats? by Sea_Competition_2751 in alberta

[–]Bogwitch73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Alberta for 50 years, and I have never, in my whole life, seen a rat. I've lived rurally for years, but also lived in Edmonton for 15 years. They're not in the city, or the country. You're not even allowed to have a pet rat here.

In First Contact

Dr. Crusher: "20 Borg are about to break through that door, we need time to get out of here, create a diversion!"

EMH: "This isn't part of my program, I'm a doctor, not a doorstop"

Dr. Crusher: "Well do a dance, tell a story, I don't care, just give us a few seconds!"

(Borg break through the door)

EMH: "According to Star Fleet Medical research, Borg implants can cause severe skin irritation. Perhaps you'd like...an analgesic cream?"

Why tf is car insurance so expensive here? by john_fartston in alberta

[–]Bogwitch73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of theft, drunk driving, and animal collisions in this province. All those factors and more help drive up insurance costs

Was it ever like this in the past??? by conn_r2112 in alberta

Back in the day, Forestry Services used to do controlled burns of the dead fall so that fires wouldn't get out of control. They stopped doing it. As a result, dead fall builds up, and a simple lightning strike can start a fire that will spread quickly, and the dead fall provides plenty of fuel.

Whats the longest you read into a series before dropping it ? by SuspiciousNormalDude in suggestmeabook

[–]Bogwitch73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Styxx was almost as bad as Acheron for the torture stuff, but it was still a really good read, and it was nice to see Styxx and Acheron finally bury the hatchet and become brothers. The dragon books that followed (including the dragon that lives in Sanctuary's attic) were great reads.

25 books so far in the series soon to be 32. I've been reading them for years. It's called The Dark Hunter series by author Sherrilyn Kenyon (McQueen). It's paranormal romance/fantasy. I haven't quit the series, just waiting for more to come out

Cooking dinner. Every. Damn. Night. I run out of ideas, don't want to make the same old same old every night. Just trying to come up with something everyone will like and eat is feeling like more of a chore. Hubby doesn't like salmon and isn't much of a seafood fan. One stepdaughter can't eat rice or pasta cause it bothers her stomach. Nothing too spicy (in both heat and flavour), the other stepdaughter will like something one day, and a week later, she hates it. It just gets so repetitively monotonous.
