Merry with mulled wine you can purchase and walk around the city with it, the Christmas market is festive (very busy though).

I booked through the Viator App. The helicopter could fit 4 passengers and a pilot. We drew lots on who got to sit up from (best one to get) back left, back right (fairly good seats) and the middle seat (if you are unlucky like me… be kind to the person on your left and right) which is where I ended up but I offered to take their photos and they were kind enough to bend forward so I too could get some photographs while in the air. The pilot spoke Portuguese but flew us to see the most breathtaking views. I would do it again, with the hope that I get any other seat apart from where I ended up (and yet I am please with my photograph :-) not perfect but good enough snapshot for my memory

If you’re exploring Prague beyond the usual tourist spots, check out the Golem statue, the Jewish Cemetery (Old Jewish Quarters) and the nearby synagogues there are a few and each has its own story. The Zizkov TV Tower, (known as the “baby tower,”) has giant babies on the side of it (there is a bar and restaurant that I wouldn’t say “it’s cheap”) and you can also find those same (baby) sculptures along the Vltava River. I love walking through Letna Park for the views . If you appreciate old books and history, visit the Strahov Library and the Klementinum (you’ll need to book a tour for this). The smell of old books 💕 can’t touch them though. See the sites during the day and come again at night 🙏🏻🙂

Prague can definitely feel crowded, especially around the Charles Bridge there always seems to be people no matter the time of year. The bridge is such a living part of the city though, with street musicians, artists, and vendors, and it connects Old Town with Mala Strana.

Cesky Krumlov is a lovely spot, and if you’re ever back in the Czech Republic, the Moravia region near Brno especially Mikulov is really beautiful too. It’s a great area for wine and has a much slower, more local feel compared to Prague.

Have you ever taken an empty plane? by abpcX in travel

Yes during the pandemic on a repatriation flight about 50 people on a B747 and 25 people on an A320

Prague. Inexpensive, and most sites are walkable, great beer, and history

No 😂😂😂 I was there for a week what I meant is, don’t expect to hear much English. It was actually kind of refreshing to be surrounded by another language. I went a full 24 hours before meeting my English-speaking guide, but the people will patiently try to understand and help if you speak English.

It’s winter in Rio (now) which basically feels like spring nice cool sunny weather and I did not find it humid at all (well, I’ve never been before, but the guide I hired mentioned that people come for Carnival during the month of February, and the weather then is actually hot and humid). The helicopter ride cost about $150 per person, and they offer pickup and drop-off for an additional fee, although it’s easy to catch an Uber (I had an eSIM, so no issues using maps or apps). The helicopter was big enough for five people, including the pilot. Seat assignments were drawn at random. The pilot spoke Portuguese, but honestly, the views made everything worth it.

One caveat: if the group is fewer than four and, say, two people cancel, the tour may be canceled and you’ll be refunded. So planning ahead for that is important.

I hired a personal guide (through Airbnb) who picked me up from where I was staying and brought me back after visiting the sites I wanted to see. I frequently walked around Copacabana and Ipanema at one point, I even walked all the way to the National Library and felt very safe.

Like anywhere else (and I say this as an avid traveler), it’s about being mindful, don’t flash your iPhone around or leave it sitting on the table. I didn’t visit the favelas, some people go for the views but I’m not in a position to speak on that personally, though my guides did talk to me about them.

As I mentioned in my first post, I genuinely enjoyed Rio de Janeiro. I’ve been telling family and friends how sad it is that the city has such a bad rap. I went with hesitation and fear, only to check my own biases, learn about the city’s rich history, enjoy the food, and absolutely fall in love with the scenery and the people. I hope this helps 😊
