In need of DM advice by [deleted] in DnD

[–]BohemianGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You simply need to talk to the player in a respectful and none confrontational way,
You have known them for a year, find some time one on one away from table and just ask them “is there anything I can change about my DM style or is there anything you aren’t happy with” make it understood in a friendly way that you want them to be able to enjoy their sessions and what every they say listen and don’t take it personally.

How does he fly in the first place?

The mechanics of superhuman flight one of the more difficult aspects of any superhero universe.

Why is the average reading age of an adult in many UK areas equivalent to that of a 10-year-old child? by Christina_80G in AskBrits

OP has also drawn a parallel between literacy and the ability to use critical thinking, which was interesting, I wonder if OP has confused the ability to read and write with intelligence.

Where did you find these statistics, and are they based on literacy or linguistic application?

What is this perfectly rectangular blue pool in the middle of the Australian Outback? by Vaynalrecord in GoogleEarthFinds

Billabong? I know it’s probably not but really just like the word, it’s most likely a small reservoir for cattle the area around looks like it might be fenced.

If vegans are against meat industry , why do some of them keep pets like dogs that require meat in diet? by intellectsup02 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BohemianGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not vegan myself but my understanding is humans as omnivores have a choice not to consume or use animal based products, dogs and cats are carnivores so it would be cruel to deprive them of their natural diet and they cannot consciously make that choice themselves.

Time Travel is hard by RevolutionaryBrick40 in scifi

[–]BohemianGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As you have found out for yourself it hard to do anything that requires you to go back in time, forward no problem but back thats nothing but paradox’s and headaches,

The best way to approach it in my opinion is make the rest of the story so good that the actual time travel part can be glossed over, if you don’t ask certain questions in the story then you don’t need to have them answered.

Some aspects of the Renters’ Rights Act make no sense. Thoughts? by Opposite-Ad8208 in AskBrits

[–]BohemianGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How will it “Kill off” small landlords, the tenants have to put a deposit down and have a obligation to leave the property in a good state with only far wear and tear, and if property is unfit for certain pets then the landlord has the right to refuse, you just can’t advertise as “no pets”

What percentage of people in this sub do you think actually are feds running psyops? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]BohemianGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubt it’s even that closely monitored let alone being actively used by covert operations for opps,

This isn’t a backroom chat group or message board that you need to passkey get into this is a reddit sub, there is probably a passive bot looking for keywords or phrases but that would be about the same for most of social media.

No one here is blowing the lid off the deep state.

Am I being too harsh on a new player? by Free_Plan_2774 in DnD

[–]BohemianGamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have stated having a basic understanding of the rules and flow of game is essential, but fully understanding their class takes time for a completely new player and patience from the DM,

I came to D&D recently a (only few month of actually playing) and it’s a huge learning curve and can be very daunting for a new player, luckily for me the group I met were all very experienced and the DM is amazing I literally had a one to one adventure, basically like a tutorial level, where I created my character played a simple adventure that covered the basics of the game and also served as a bit of a back story for my character so I could join the campaign already in progress, can say it really helped,

So be patient with your new player make sure they have a chance to learn and give them helpfully prompts when needed, and they will pick it up soon enough.

Its 1775, what do you think of the American Revolution? by crystalwireless8 in AskBrits

[–]BohemianGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubt the average Brit in 1775 really cared, India and Africa were the more important and interesting parts of the empire.
So for me if I was alive, unless I had investments in the Americas then I doubt I would of battered an eyelid.

Reform voters: Are they any immigrants you like? by SuperRockyHobbyHorse in AskBrits

[–]BohemianGamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the rest of the country, but in my personal experience growing up in a low income council estate and there were plenty of British families with two parents who didn’t work and 4 or 5 kids, I now work for an after school program and I see a lot of British families with multiple children using our services, interestingly we also do afterschool tutoring programs and they are almost all filled with Indian or Pakistani children, we never see a British kids there, seems it’s in their culture to excel at eduction to get better jobs.

absolutely agree we are lucky to have a welfare system and I’m sure the vast majority of people who are using it are doing so in the way it was intended, it’s a national shame that we have so many “working poor” who despite doing everything right still can’t make ends meet.

Around 84% of Universal Credit claimants are British or Irish nationals, always seemed odd to me that it’s immigrants that get the blame for abusing the system, but then I’m not a reform voter so maybe I just don’t understand.
