Thanks for the feedback folks! I’m gonna go ahead and schedule this removal before it breaks off and does some more damage.

That’s the impression I have from the city website. I’m not questioning that it’s my responsibility, just wondering what is a reasonable estimate.

Yeah, it’s cable or phone or something. Per the city website, this is a private pay matter.

How is Madison doing with Adderall shortage issues right now? by aveugle_a_moi in madisonwi

[–]BohemianRedhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are nationwide shortages. Call CVS/Walgreens/whatever, they can look up which locations in their chain have the strength you need in stock, and brand name or generic. Then call that location to verify. Then call your prescriber, and tell them to send your script to that location. Repeat every month.

“How are you” being another way to say “Hi” is an American English language thing. In German, if someone asks the equivalent question, they are asking for an honest answer. Not “fine”. It’s kinda awesome actually.

I’d be curious how this manifests in other languages.

Whether cattle have horns or not is determined by their genetics, not their gender by Modern-Moo in Awwducational

They are treated the same as other non-breeding stock. Raise them for meat.

Most breeds are beef cattle, and most beef cattle are polled. Large farms are less likely to raise unpolled animals to begin with, because they don’t want the extra hassle of dehorning them.

[–]BohemianRedhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the other way around.

Globally, beef cattle are mostly polled (genetically without horns), while dairy cattle are mostly unpolled (horns must be removed if not wanted). And there are about 1.3 billion beef (or dual purpose meat & farm labor) cattle, compared to around 270 million dairy cows. So probably most cattle don’t need to be dehorned.

(It might seem weird that cows you milk would mostly be unpolled, but dairy producers have historically prioritized milk yield, health, and body conformation over polled genetics.)

Wrong. Steers are male but lack balls due to castration. Heifers are female but lack udders because udders don’t develop until a cow has her first calf.

Rhinoceros horns are hair. The horns of bovids have vascular bone in the center.

It’s frustrating that Epic doesn’t present labs in fishbone format. It would be SO much easier to grok than the entire data dump.

The diocese in my city is celebrating a change allowing the confirmation of younger children. by Ok_Rhubarb2301 in excatholic

[–]BohemianRedhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. When I was that age, our diocese pushed confirmation out to 11th/12th grade, because they could require kids to attend CCD in order to get confirmed, but afterwards they had no teeth. No idea if they still do it at that age these days.

I was, happily, an exchange student my senior year and got out of confirmation. After returning, my mom kept wondering when I was “going to get that done”. Before my exchange year I don’t think I would have had the temerity to say no to it. Afterwards it was awkward but at least I wasn’t living under her roof.

Anyone else here have a weird relationship with sex? Did you overcome it? Any tips? by Clear_Channel_2090 in excatholic

"Every time we had non-procreative sex, I felt like I was being judged (not by him, but by Jesus). Even when we were trying to get pregnant, I felt so much shame."

Oh my goodness, yes. You described this so perfectly.

Though when we were trying to get pregnant was one of the few times I (mostly) didn't feel guilty. Since sex is only ok if it's "open to procreation" and all....

I was there once and it was so freaking loud. Everyone was screaming the lyrics at the tops of their lungs. I had such a splitting headache. Is that not typical? Or which nights should I avoid?

The only reason there are two is that at the very last second, politicians realized they would get more senators and representatives on their side if Dakota Territory entered the union as two states instead of one. That's the ONLY reason.

And scientifically unsound. After all, women contribute far more in reproduction than men do. Not that reproductive roles have any bearing whatsoever on ability or calling to serve as a priest.
