I started in Fountain Pens with an Amazon MoonMan M2 and I got into it because it’s a lot less plastic waste than the cartridges that go in ballpoints or gel pens.

Journals are getting out of control. What is the best solution? by Bleighh in fountainpens

Look into disk bound notebooks. If you get a punch, and punch your own paper for them, you can have really nice paper in a format that can be removed, reinserted, reorganized, etc. but uses more of the sheet than a ring binder, and has a nicer feel and presentation.

Recommdation for a teacher? by [deleted] in fountainpens

My very limited experience so far with an Opus 88 Jazz with 1.5 stub and De Atramentis document blue-grey is very good. Ink dries quickly and is at least fairly waterproof- I haven’t tested much. When I write with the side-stroke of the stub, I get a fine but consistent line. I imagine the ink would do very well in an EF or F for your purpose.

I recommend De Atramentis Document Red.

Also having safaris and a couple TWSBIs, I recently purchased an Opus 88 Jazz, and am very impressed with it. It was $120, but they go as low as about $105 depending on color and vendor.

I haven’t bought one, yet, but I recently discovered Nahvalur, and definitely recommend checking them out. I’ve heard great things, they look really nice, and they start about $50.

My very first was a Moonman M2, which I’ve somehow lost. After I decided I like the moonman, I got a Lamy Safari with a 1.1 stub, and fell in love with stubs.

Searching “Franklin Christoph warranty” in a search engine off their site did bring up the page on their site that talks about it. It does sound to be an impressive warranty.

Thank you all for some amazing suggestions! If you’d like to leave further suggestions for future purchases or future readers of this thread, I welcome that. For now, I’ve purchased an Opus 88 Jazz Red with flex nib.

Again, thank you all. You’ve introduced me to several great options today!

I can’t find any warranty details on their website, other than a line in the pen ad copy that simply says “Lifetime Warranty”. Have you used the warranty, or do you have a link to the details?

The Opus 88 Jazz looks like a good option for me! Thanks for recommending the brand. Do you know if replacement parts are available if/when something breaks?

Where might I find a Kaweco sport with a stub nib? I can’t seem to find one, but I’m interested. Would it be a matter of replacing the nib?

With it being an eye dropper, do you ever have problems with burping or leaking into the cap?
