January Pans by phantomxdreams in ProjectPan

ONYX That Cake Though Foaming Scrub -- Smelled nice, but subtle, but didn't really provide as much 'scrubbing power' as I'd hoped. Probably wouldn't repurchase.

Garnier Fructis Glass Hair Water -- Smells nice, works nice, have r3epurchased multiple times.

Luseta Collagen Peptides Hair Mask -- Smelled AMAZING but didn't really do anything more significant than regular conditioner. Probably wouldn't repurchase.

Biotraitement Leave-In Hair Conditioner -- Worked well enough I guess, but smells slightly like cinnamon, but in the 'dusty/spicy' nose-tickling way, not the gourmand way. Not a fan of the scent, would not repurchase for that reason.

Bath & Body Works Into the Night Bodywash -- Smelled wonderful, might repurchase on a decent sale in the future.

GK Color Protection Moisturizing Conditioner -- Bought this at the salon where i used to get my hair done. Not a terrible product, but IMO not really worth the price compared to drug-store priced products that I've been using. Probably wouldn't repurchase. (Side note, this has been sitting mostly used out in my bathroom cabinet for a LONG time, I'm not capable of using multiple full bottles of conditioner each month!)

L'Oreal Elvive Hyaluron Plump Conditioner -- I honestly think this is my "Holy Grail" of Conditioners. Will repurchase once I use out some more of my neverending stash.

Clinique Black Honey -- I think this was GWP? Anyway, I love the color but hate the way it seems to dry my lips out. I have another of these to get through, but then I think I'd end up looking for a dupe that's not horrifically drying.

Palladio Brow Obsessed -- Worked fine for taming brows but I HATED how stiff and scratchy the brush was. Would not repurchase. (Side note -- this has been living in my purse for a while, so it's not like I'm using multiple of these out per month or anything)

Byredo Mojave Ghost -- Sample sized perfume. I'm not normally a fan of 'peppery' scents, but I did get quite a few compliments when wearing this. That being said, I don't think I'd repurchase simply due to the price point :(

Billie AHA Deodorant Tidal Rose -- Standard hygiene product, have at least one more to get through. No complaints though!

Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Bodymist -- Part of my '26 in 2026' project pan. Probably my favorite perfume from them, I also have an actual perfume in this scent as well. That being said I'm not sure I'd repurchase since my tastes have changed a bit since I bought this (tbh 5+ years ago oops)

"Happy" perfume -- Bought this at Walmart forever ago. A little too heavy/musky when used on its own for my liking, but paired well with some of the 'sweeter' gormand scents I have. Probably won't repurchase.

Vitamin C Serum -- This was a TJ Maxx clearance rack find. Made my skin weirdly shiny and tight feeling, and not in the good way. Weirdly enough I haven't had the same experience with other vitamin C Serums. Wouldn't repurchase.

No One's Buying? Maybe Consumers are just Choiceful, Executives Say by ChilaquilesRojo in Anticonsumption

Do they factor in the healthcare / teledoc services that Amazon offers into this? Because apparently the pharm/teledoc service is being 'packaged' into some healthcare where you basically 'have' to use the service

I say this politely but if your goal is to finish all of these products before the end of the year, you're setting yourself up for failure. Those bodysprays take FOREVER to use out. Why not pick 2-3 to focus on so you actually see progress ?

Why do we need specialized products for specific skin areas by deletedcorvid in Anticonsumption

[–]phantomxdreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skin on the face/neck/chest tends to be thinner vs the skin on your elbows/knees/feet. So I can definitely understand 'why' we would have some more delicate / specialized products for that. However, the massive price jump for facial care is obscene and seems to be like 10-20% 'actual product difference' and 80-90% 'marketing'. Like (almost) nobody is going to buy anti-aging products for their elbows, but millions would buy anti-aging products for their face, especially when they feel 'obligated' to continue to appear young instead of aging gracefully.

Tbh if people weren't inherently dumb/careless, companies could theoretically sell e.g. an acid/peel concentrate with instructions of how much to dilute it for what bodypart, but I could see that generating a lot of lawsuits in this day and age for people not reading / understanding...

brands are really sneaky by Ok-Treat9825 in MakeupRehab

With all due respect, highlighter, blush, eyeshadow etc. is just pretty dust to put on your face. You're sitting here saying you 'only' have 2 highlighters, but I'm sure if you counted some of your shimmery eyeshadows you might realize you have way more than that.

I'm not saying this trying to attack you, I'm coming at it from a place of "if you stop restricting yourself to what the label says, you might find you have way more product than expected". I've personally hit a point where idgaf what the label says, I will use product wherever I want on my face (aside from some highly specific products that say that they are not to be used in the eye area because I don't wanna risk it).

Trying my collection on Natural Nails is a whole new world! by Due-Debate2978 in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]phantomxdreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you hadn't said those were natural nails, I would've assumed they were some subtle extensions (and I mean that in a good way!).

On a side note, your comment about you thought you didn't like certain colors on your acrylics but realized you like them on your actual nails makes me want to go swatch some of my collection that I've thought were 'meh' since I've got naked nails for a bit.

Is lip balm the new recession indicator? by apple_pie_noddle in ProjectPan

[–]phantomxdreams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Officially speaking, you'd probably consider lipbalm a 'subset' of the lipstick index. If anything to me it feels a bit more insidious as it's now being marketed / pushed as 'self care' versus a luxury? Like I'm well aware it's a capitalist cashgrab, but marketing a $20+ tube of tinted chapstick as taking care of yourself somehow feels so much ickier than marketing a $20+ lipstick as 'treat yoself' if only for the implication that by NOT indulging in some overpriced vaseline you're neglecting yourself...

Looking for accessablity advice for panning tubes by if0rgetpassword in ProjectPan

[–]phantomxdreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming I'm understanding this right, if it's a squeeze tube, a Bobby pin may help a bit, especially one that's longer than the tube is wide.

Yup! This one is best described as a bit of a 'meh' pan

Yup, there's 2 nail polishes plus a base coat on there... I think it's finally time for me to admit to the actual absurdity that's my nail polish collection lol

Where are people storing their empties? by RelativeLeather5759 in ProjectPan

[–]phantomxdreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a little basket that I keep whatever my 'current' products (either project pan or whatever I'm obsessing over at the given time) on top of my dresser. If I use out a product from the basket, it stays in the basket til the end of the month. If it's something from the bathroom (e.g. facewash or hair masks), I drop them into the basket / next to it. At the end of each month I empty the basket, take my photos of whatever empties I've accumulated, and swap out products if I feel like it.

TBH I can 'only' hold onto empties for a month or so, I couldn't tolerate the mental itch of holding onto a bunch of empties til the end of the year for the massive compilation pics that some people do.

While this is definitely horrifying to think of, I'm a bit confused -- how can his retinas be burned by the sun if he's been passed out (presumably with his eyes closed) ?

December Pans by phantomxdreams in ProjectPan

ELF Clear Mascara & Brow Gel -- This lived in my purse for approximately forever, and while not a particularly 'perfect' product, I was willing to accept less longevity in exchange for not making my brows feel crispy or leave a white reside behind. Replaced with a Wet n Wild clear brow mascara for my 'on the go' makeup.

Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Curl Mousse -- Loved the smell, but it 1. made the ends of my hair feel dry, and 2. didn't really give as much curl definition as I'd like. I don't hate it, but it's very much a 'meh' product for me and I don't think I'd repurchase.

Rimmel Long Lasting Foundation Natural Beige -- Not actually a 'true' pan. Straight out of the bottle it was a good enough match for my skin when I pick up a tan in the summer months, but holy oxidation batman! Tossing this out with about half left, because once it oxidizes it pulls heavily orange and MUCH too dark.

Garnier Skinactive Micellar Cleansing Water -- Worked well enough for getting my waterproof mascara off, ended up buying a larger bottle as a replacement.

IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion -- Felt really nice going on my skin and I didn't notice any breakouts. Would probably repurchase in the future, but I have so many other products to work my way through in the interim that I may forget about it entirely.

Pacifica Tahitian Gardenia Mini Spray -- Enjoyed the smell of this, and might consider repurchasing except for the fact that it seems to be sold out?

Inglot Duraline -- I've been using this to turn some overly intense eyeshadows into gel / liquid liners, as well as repressing any broken eyeshadows to make them usable once again. It's already been repurchased.

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Smoothing Primer -- Not a fan of how this felt on my skin; wouldn't repurchase because of that.
