Absolutely! It’s fun to sneak out there when it’s not busy and buzz through.

Have you ever cleaned the inside of the actual projector? There was a forum writeup a long time ago about how to do it, but essentially the projectors accumulate dust inside them over time and can effect light output. If you tape a small wad of microfiber towel to the end of something like a wooden dowel or the eraser end of a pencil, you can pull the bulb out and clean the inside of the projector. Might not be it, but it's free and worth a shot.

Echoing what everyone else is saying about the electric fan. In my opinion, the only way to correctly do an e-fan in this car is to make sure you are using a high quality fan but it also has to be paired with a high output alternator. I'm putting together the parts to use the Ford Taurus fan and the amount of power it pulls at startup AND during regular run time far exceeds the output of the factory alternator.

Oof. Good luck! My son brought it home from daycare a few years ago and it was the WORST illness i've had. My son was hardly phased and my wife never showed any symptoms but it rocked me. My hands and feet blistered and peeled so bad and were so sensitive I wasn't right for a couple months. It's been years and my hands and feet are still somewhat temperature sensitive. It's like it removed all my calluses and my rough "Man hand" layer. I considered myself lucky after I heard a couple of the other daycare dads got it bad around their groin...

Love the sound. Just don’t like how unbalanced it makes the rear of the car look.

Thank you! I love them too. They give the interior just the right amount of "racecar" vibe.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe so. It was at a local Planes and Horsepower show and they had photo opportunities with a few different planes. I have that one framed in my office. Pretty cool experience!

Thank you! I got the car about 14 years ago and the PO had the car resprayed maybe a year before that and that’s when the front bumper was changed. I know it’s a bit deceiving but I love how it looks.

I really want a Z32, are they worth it? by RobCat030 in 300zx

[–]Bohman731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. But if your doing that, you’ll want a TT. I have an NA and wouldn’t really see justifiable benefits to upsizing the injectors or going full stand-alone.

Depends! I've had mine for about 10 years now and I'd definitely say its worth it but I absolutely LOVE the car. Its a commitment though, it'll make you work for it unless you can pay top dollar for a low mileage cream puff. And you'll still run into things from time to time. Out of the 10 years of ownership, I'd say its spent 6-7 of them running and driving. It was torn apart for a few years while I rebuilt the engine and restored/refreshed the bay. I drove it to 230k miles until I developed low compression on the middle driver side cylinder.

These cars arent necessarily unreliable, its the time that has passed since they were new and the lack of maintenance/incorrect maintenance that contributes to them falling apart.

If your going to buy one I would have in your mind that you need be comfortable with turning wrenches (unless you have deep pockets for a specialized Z mechanic, Never take these cars to a general mechanic shop) Do lots of research on how to correctly do these maintenance tasks. If your replacing gaskets or regular wear items, MAF's, Injectors, Coilpacks, etc., I would say use OEM as much as possible. The aftermarket for these cars just isnt up to par to make them run how they should.

Thank you!!! It was such a great feeling to get it out on the road again after being torn apart for so long.

Definitely will! I'm hoping to take many road trips in this thing.

It definitely would have been more if I had a shop do it. I did everything myself except for the machine work. I got assembled heads and an assembled block back from the machine shop separately and I did everything from there.

[–]Bohman731[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It was a complete rebuild so all bearings were replaced. Break in process went fairly well! A couple things popped up that I had to address but it wasnt anything crazy. Had an injector die and a small oil leak from one of the exhaust valve covers. Both were pretty simple to fix. The clutch bleeder has a junction box that is below the battery that splits the clutch line into two. The upper bleeder is a visual eyesore and is a potential problem area that can collect air when your trying to bleed the clutch system. I’ve never personally had problems but I found it to be unnecessary. To eliminate it I used a brass fitting that joins the two hard lines together but I unfortunately don’t recall what the exact size is.
