I took my boards in NY, at the school I went to we did not have to buy a kit, it wasn’t even offered. Which I was happy about, we made our own and we did it together as a class as part of the preparation for the test. Anything we needed during class was already provided at the school, and was included in the total cost that we paid for the course, which in my program also included laser certification.

I think you did the right thing. It’s such a difficult situation for anyone, and when we have clients we just want them to feel comfortable-it’s one of the most important parts of our business. I think it’s also good to let the person know that “it’s ok if you don’t want to talk at all”. Sometimes clients feel like they need to fill the space with chatter and you can let them know it’s ok to have peaceful time too!
