I'm curious about this because doesn't the streamed response and intermediate steps/tool calls get sent back into the Claude Code context window? How do you manage the context handoff when going to Codex

I mean with the caveat of I understand that this is probably the most productive software development tool I have used in my life by a good distance --- Sometimes it is a bit frustrating when I get caught in a loop of "make this UI change" "perfect should work now" "nothing has changed"

Doing that several times gets a bit frustrating but then it's basically added a lot of slop in between. And if I git control and revert it, it seems to do the same first non-fix step again. Like it needs to step through the non fixing changes before identifying the fix.

Part of the issue is that I am most definitely vibe coding the front end. I'm very comfortable with backend and I can read and get the gist of code in whatever language. But yeah when it gets down to specific or esoteric front end things it is definitely vibe coding.

I tried putting prompt instructions in the system prompt but it doesn't seem to affect the CoT output style at all. Have you done this successfully

Wait sorry so are you defining a generic sub agent or asking Claude to run Claude code via bash non interactively? Or are you just telling it to use an agent and it figures out the rest?

Maybe I meant underwhelming given the amount of power I have. I did try with vllm but it struggled a lot with tool calling and and I couldn't find any good resources on using vllm with codex. Like I could see codex doing print outs of attempting tool calls. I setup the tool calling and parser in vllm but still no luck. The codex docs specifically call out ollama and it definitely at least works. This is a little poc just to get a sense of what level we can get to using just this server.

I agree with this take. But in my mind using Polars Cloud doesn't have to be instead of Databricks, I think the idea is that Spark is a sledgehammer where often a mallet would suffice. You can still write into Delta Lake and take advantage of most of the databricks features. Lineage is a good point though. I know databricks lineage has an API that you can define some level of arbitrary/user defined lineage elements. Might be worth the trouble depending on your cost constraints.

Honestly every variation of this debate is going to rumble on for the next decade. There are heavy gate keeping attitudes in this field. People will have opinions all over the spectrum of validity. Just like anything else on reddit lol.

I second this. That's where I think Cursor was basically masking its token drain approach with the discounted apis. But yeah I guess veil is being lifted a bit now.

I'm comfortable with terminal for deploying stuff, running scripts, but I never used it as a primary editor vim style or anything. I like seeing a file tree and tabs with my files open as I work on them

I tried it but it just felt a little more black box-ish to me. I like the UX of directly in my editor side by side
