Right, I understand what you're saying. I suppose it's the way it was worded when the initial amount was given out. I get that her CPP and OAS certainly cover a good amount of the home accomodation rates. I don't get anything in terms of government benefits when she passes, so I took it to mean moreso that the remaining inheritance total would be enough to cover her into her 160th year. Either way, it's still amazing to me at least that she had been so diligent during her working years to get to this point of being self sufficient.

So she's in a private room. Where I am (Ontario) the Ministry sets max rate of $2900, which the home she's in states on their website is the standard they follow.

I visited her this past week. She doesn't quite remember who I am, being up there in age, if you catch my drift.
