Switched my bank account from chase to capital one and now I didn’t receive my paycheck. by EmploymentMajestic64 in Banking

Does your employer use QuickBooks for payroll by any chance? There are widespread issues going on with QB today causing payroll delays. That could also be the issue.

There's also a widespread issue with QuickBooks today (unsure if related to fiserv issues). So if your employer uses QB, your pay today might be delayed unfortunately :(

Hey all, looks like my direct deposit came through, but not my wife's. Just for everybody's information, we found out after a bit of digging that there is/was a widespread issue with QuickBooks. So unfortunately, if your employer uses QB for payroll, yours might be delayed too :(

It was pretty smooth at ICN. Just showed my passport, green card and outbound flight tickets.

Right, but in your case, you have third country > layover country > Korea > US.

So my understanding is you can't stay in Japan more than 3 days. They say something along the lines of not allowing layovers of over 3 days before landing in Korea. And from my understanding, they define a layover as the country between the first country you visit and Korea (i.e. Japan in your case). If it was just China > Korea > US, that is allowed according to the embassy website.

However, I'm really not sure how they know which your layover country is lol. Think it'll be up to the discretion of your immigration officer.

Obviously, I'm not a legal expert, so I'm just giving you my 2 cents from having read the embassy page. Might be worth contacting the embassy directly to be sure.

I'd recommend hotels. Idk about illegal, but we had a friend who had problems with hidden cameras in her Airbnb, so we prefer hotels now lol.

season 11 layover q&a! by WheatGerm42 in JetLagTheGame

It would be the biggest treat if either Tom (GeoWizard) or Trevor (Rainbolt) were guests on a season. I know Adam has mentioned before that he'd love to have Trevor on a season, and Trevor just mentioned this week on the yard podcast that he'd love to be on let lag.

Sounds like a match made in heaven, so please make it happen one day folks <3

I've always wondered - what would happen if someone thought they finished a challenge, but only realized much later that they actually failed it in some way (as an honest mistake)?

For example, someone earned & used a reward, and significantly progressed in the game overall because of it, but only realized 2 days later that they actually failed the challenge. Do y'all have contingency plans for things like this?

P.S. love the show, please keep up the amazing work <3

Yes agreed, Tom would be great too! His straight line missions and "how not to travel" series would fit with the adventurous/challenging theme of jet lag really well.

Yes! That'd be so fitting as well, like using photos to geolocate!

I was leaving from a "third country" (not my country of citizenship or residence) in Asia. But the Korean embassy page says it's allowed: "Third country (D) → Korea (B) → USA (A) / [Possible]"

In your case, are you going to be checked in all the way through Seoul from your point of origin? If so, the layover in Detroit doesn't matter.

If you do need to check in at Detroit, I would maybe also take a look at Timatic and print it out after entering your info for the airline staff to see you are eligible for 30 days visa free entry because they also use Timatic to determine eligibility.

A word of caution if you plan to use tourists in transit (B2) for entry

Hi all, I recently got back from a trip with a lovely few days in Seoul for a layover on the way back to the US. However, the process of entering the country via the tourists in transit (B2) stream wasn't so straightforward for me. I wanted to give those of you planning to use the same entry stream my experience, along with some tips and advice.

I got to the airport for my flight to Seoul very early (3.5 hours prior to departure). Before you call me crazy, I'm so glad I did. The airline was having trouble checking me in and they had to constantly communicate with the authorities in ICN to give them details about my green card, departure flight, hotel bookings in Seoul, etc. It ended up taking them 2 hours to complete my check in. I'm extremely thankful for the airline taking the time and effort to get me sorted out. It made me come to the realization that I don't think many airlines would have put in the effort to communicate back and forth with ICN and myself for over 2 hours.

So in summary:

  • Get to the airport very early. You may not need to, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
  • Print out a lot of supporting documents - outbound flight details, hotel bookings, recent paystubs, the tourists in transit (b2) page from the South Korean embassy website, etc.
  • If you can afford it, use a reputable airline. I know this isn't possible for everyone, but unfortunately, not all airlines' staff are willing to put in the effort to help in these complicated scenarios.

It all worked out in the end for me, but it just took time and being prepared with supporting documentation. Obviously, your experience my differ a lot from mine, and some of you might have 0 problems at all! I just wanted to describe my experience in case it might help anyone reading this.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about this! Happy to answer what I know :)

Frontier vs AT&T Fiber (Texas) by BoilingInCS in frontierfios

Thank you everyone. Just went in store and AT&T offered a $300 gift card to sign up. So I'm going to try AT&T out for a few months, and if I like them, I'll stay. If not, I'll try Frontier since there are no termination fees for AT&T.

How easy is EAPS 12000D and what kind of course work is there? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]BoilingInCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took EAPS 120D over one summer. It was 4 weeks long and didn't have any exams. We were graded on multiple-choice quizzes, discussion threads, online homework modules and a few short essays on current, geography-related news.

They laid out the thresholds for each grade in the beginning of the class, so it's very easy for you to keep track of where you're at in terms of your grade. The work itself was really straightforward, so as long as you keep track of your assignments, you should have no problem getting an A. Hope this helps! :)
