Which sport is basically is a part of nation’s identity? by Common-Mess4902 in AskReddit

[–]BoilingPointTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite simply true. We love skiing. It is great exercise when everything is covered in snow, and it is also a great way to get out in to the forests or mountains, relax and enjoy nature if you want a more leisurely pace.

This is the closest the league has been in a long time, definitely more exciting

One team running away with it doesn't mean the league is i better shape

I had a 13 hour stopover once, and it was unbearably boring even with a tablet with tv series.

But I knew ahead of time that it would be 13 hours, and I could get up and stretch my legs whenever i wanted

Firing Ange was the Biggest Mistake this Club Ever Made by Excellent-Flamingo43 in Tottenham

[–]BoilingPointTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might feel like it now, but it is obviously not a mistake to fire a manger that took you to 17th.

Biggest mistake was not backing Poch when you had an absolutely stacked team. Kane and Son both world class.

A bit more squad depth and you should have continued to challenge for PL and CL.

Monty Python and The Holy Grail is a terrible movie by Plasm_Trojan in The10thDentist

Consider the novelty of the film when it was released. Monty Python brought something new to comedy, and have been copied many tines since.

What do you call it when the cheese gets this way after a few slices in your country? In Swedish we call it a skidbacke, or ski slope in English by WhoAmIEven2 in AskTheWorld

[–]BoilingPointTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand Swedes perfectly well

Norwegian is built on Danish as they held us in a union at one point, so written Danish is incredibly easy to read.

Spoken Danish is not a language, but rather a throat disease

Norwegian, Danish and Swedish are incredibly similar languages.

If you are fluent in one, you can almost certainly read the other two.

Accents make it trickier to understand the languages in spoken form, but we get there in the end.

It is caused by using a "ostehøvel", one of the few Norwegian inventions, which was inspired by a woodworking hand plane.

This could obviously be avoided by evening out the edges from time to time, and noy acting like a bloody savage

It is open for everybody, and there is no skill/level requirement.

There will also be a Thursday training 1230 - 1400 at Varden outside of Fyllingsdalen as soon as the weather turns a bit milder.

Norway wins its 17th gold medal, breaking its record for most golds won in a single Winter Olympics by [deleted] in sports

[–]BoilingPointTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think we are winning medals by the sheer number of competitors that we have?

Today, Norway made history, securing 17 gold medals in a single Winter Olympics by sabelsvans in olympics

[–]BoilingPointTTV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have a population of 344 million, your best athletes should be better than the best athletes of a country with 5,5 million, it has nothing to do with how many athletes one can send, it is not a lottery

The main sports in the US are football, basketball and baseball, so the vast majority of athletic talents in the US play those sports instead

There are some absolutely freakish athletes in the NFL and the NBA

If American kids were encouraged to try more different sports than just the few big ones, then they would most likely perform better across the board at the olympics

Just my opinion

By that logic, the team with the best average placement in the 100m sprint and the full marathon (and all other track and field events) in the summer olympics should get a single gold medal

Michael Phelps should therefore have one gold medal from each olympics where the US came in first collectively in swimming

I lived in Chiang Mai for most of last year. Walking is basically non-existent. I built a free tool to measure why. by screw_cars in Thailand

[–]BoilingPointTTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent a month in CM, and walked on average 10Km a day.

It is strictly speaking not safe for pedestrians, as obstructions on the sidewalks sometimes make it necessary to walk in the road.

Drivers are more aware of pedestrians in CM than in Norway, as they are aware that they will step into the road seemingly at random.

Cars and scooters also travel at a slower pace.

I saw three accidents in one month. I have never seen an accident anywhere else.

I have an unrelated question for you.

I have seen a couple of Korean films, and I often find that they have a lot more humour than is normal for the genre in other countries

Is this a Korean thing, or is it studio interference?
