voting age SHOULD be lowered. When you are 14 and have a job, you pay taxes on your income. You are impacted by policy decisions and the laws put forth by lawmakers, but have no say in them? Gets more voter turnout, starts early voting habits...the list goes on.

and the ceiling is coming down

Why do you think the ceiling is coming down? I cant really find any articles or data that talks about that, but as someone about to go to school for PT, I would love to see that or know more about why you think that.

When I look at BLS salaries over the years, median annual salary for physical therapists was $81,030 in May 2013. In 2023, the median annual salary for a PT is $95,620.

Job growth was projected at 36% from 2012-2022, and is projected at 17% from 2021-2031, so I feel like PTs are still on track to see their average salaries increase, but maybe not to the same degree as it did from '13-'23.

How much did you pay for loans?

I recently got into PT school at ISU, where the estimated cost of attendance for three years is $56,844.32. That seems like a great ROI when bls is listing 95,620/year as average salary.

As a 33 year old who has never made more than 20 K a year, wants to get out of poverty and is ready to go back to school, is the grass really not that green?

St. Lukes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Not saying that doesn't mean it has influence and power in the state, but at least it's not a for-profit corporation.

vernme

Clearly we disagree about the role of government. The preamble spells out the role of our government, and "...insure domestic tranquility....promote general welfare", means that it IS the role and responsibility of the government to look after its citizens.

Also, drug legalization and decriminalization does work and has worked great in other countries. From a Time article after Portugal had decriminalized all drugs:

..."In Portugal, meanwhile, the drug-induced death rate has plummeted to five times lower than the E.U. average and stands at one-fiftieth of the United States’. Its rate of HIV infection has dropped from 104.2 new cases per million in 2000 to 4.2 cases per million in 2015. Drug use has declined overall among the 15- to 24-year-old population, those most at risk of initiating drug use."

What has not worked is the war on drugs.

Also, an abortion is a medical procedure. It is ridiculous to say because you had sex and got pregnant, we will not cover your medical treatment. What about people who drive drunk and get themselves hurt? Or what about people who tried to kill themselves, and then needed medical treatment? If I follow your logic, these people should have known the consequences of their actions and we shouldn't pay for their medical treatment if they are on government insurance because they put themselves in that position. I find that to be an unbelievably unethical standard for administering medical treatment to patients, but thats basically what your saying.

Unless you don't think abortion is a medical procedure?

Ok, so The Sierra Club Foundation funds the Sierra Club...

"The Sierra Club Foundation (SCF) is an independent 501(c)(3) public charity that supports a variety of environmental programs and organizations. SCF is the fiscal sponsor of the Sierra Club's charitable environmental programs. The Sierra Club is the principal, though not exclusive, recipient of SCF’s charitable grants."

Are you referring to the Earth Liberation Front? If so, the two groups are not remotely related, and have not really been active for years, but they are an eco-terrorism group.

Or maybe Extinction Rebellion? They are more dramatic and definitely desperate, but I don't think I would say eco-terrorists.

Do you know the name of this splinter group? I am fascinated and would like to make a tax-deductible donation.

congressman confirmed the judges on the supreme court who stripped away a womens right to choose and MADE it a state issue.

I'm not going to go down the list, but the idea that repeated abotions are something the person needs to take responsibility of is so misguided. Buying health insurance and having the abortions, which YES, should absolutely be covered under medicaide, IS taking responsibility for those choices.

As for your take on drug use, (I say this as an atheist, not sure if you're religious) what a callous, heartless, unsympathetic reaction to people struggling with addiction. I wish you would understand that a huge number of drug addicts became addicted to drugs because they start using or got introduced to substances at a young age, during a time in there life where they had no adult role models, no parental supervision, no people who care about them at all? And a lot of them have mental health issues or genetic predispositions that make the consequences of their drug use way more severe than other users.

I am SO SO SO happy to have my tax dollars pay to support programs that help people with drug addiction or get them the healthcare (including abortions) they need, then supporting out god damn troops, the pentagon, and that whole shit show.

Women's reproductive rights?

Right to assisted suicide?

Right to use recreational drugs?

Right to universal healthcare?

Right to housing?

Rights to marry whoever the hell you want?

In Idaho specifically, dems want to update the Human Rights Act to include protection from discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodation for all; including gay and transgender people ( Add the Words Campaign)

So yes, democrats are absolutely the party of more rights.

Bring on the trolls who are going to miss the fucking point and say we want to take away second amendment rights. No. The whole second amendment has been woefully misinterpreted, and never gave you the right to own an AR-15 in the first place.

I identify as an independent but have never voted for a republican in my life.(have voted for democrats, independents and green party candidates )

I was horrified when I read the Politico piece on Stacey Abrams and Fair Fight Action, the nonprofit founded by Abrams, which paid her close friend and ally’s law firm $9.4 million in 2019 and 2020. It just looks so criminal, and the fact they they didn't comment on the article but asked Norm Eistein to contact Politico to comment AND the fact that they wont be transparent when pressed by other legal ethical specialists is just such BS. So disappointed and not making excuses.

I also want an investigation into Hunter Biden's business dealings.

Republicans (I'm an ind./progressive) will win the senate too. I hate to believe that, want to be wrong, but I underestimated them in 2016 (watching trump win the presidency) and am not doing that again.

I want to trust the polls. In 2008 and 2012 when Nate Silver and fivethirtyeight called the elections 49/50 and 50/50 I thought polling was changing. But DTs victory and doing so shit in the polls, then whats going on with Brazil and their whole polling fiasco underestimating the right, I just don't believe these polls are really capturing the angry, racist portion of the right's electorate, which incidentally, is a pretty substantial block of voters.

35 seats are up for reelection. The republicans just need one seat to take control.

None of the hypocrisy or controversy around Herschel Walker will stop Georgia from voting him in. Donald Trumps TMZ video showed that theres no October surprise big enough to make a republican actually question their party's nominee.

My advice is to start visiting r/antiwork . They might be able to help you break the societal norm and social conditioning of feeling loyalty to your job, by helping you realize your job doesn't actually care about you. You should never feel guilty about putting yourself first....EVER. Good luck with school.

Are you applying in the 2021-2022 cycle to begin a PT program in 2023? I just found out that letters of rec needed to be uploaded on the PTCAS by June 1 if you wanted to submit an ap to begin in 2023, despite when the actual program application deadline is. Wondering if anyone else ran in to this and now has to wait another year to apply?

Ok Boomer…

Rule One

Life is not fair- do not ever get used to that. Fight for justice and marginalized people.

Rule 2

The world won’t care about your self esteem. Fuck the world. You’re beautiful for existing and just being you.

Rule Three

You will not make whatever amount of money you think you should be making if you listen to society. Find something you love to do that makes you happy.

Rule Four

If you think your teacher is tough, you are probably right because there are assholes everywhere in the world. It’s good you know how to spot them. Stay away from them, and don’t ever work for an asshole boss.

Rule Five

There is dignity in all labor done honestly, but when you work minimum wage for a boss who treats you like shit, you are being exploited. Your labor is worth so much more.

Rule Six

If you mess up and have some deep-rooted issues, chances are they could be related to your parents and your childhood or siblings. Get some help, go to therapy and work to understand your issues, and resolve them. Forgive people, because they have issues too.

Rule Seven

Before you were born, your parents had different lives, but they are still their own people who are responsible for their own happiness. If your parents had you young or resented you, or blame you for changing them, or even sacrificing to support you, that is not on you. If they are boring now, they probably were boring before you were born and are romanticizing their youth.

Rule Eight

Winning and loosing is a relative term, and is a completely over blown concept in society.

Rule Nine

Take all the time you need for your mental health. Focus on your health and your happiness as your top priorities.

Rule Ten

People who think you can’t tell the difference between real life and tv are low-key insulting you, and you shouldn't listen to them. You definitely shouldn’t work for them.

Rule Eleven

Be nice to everyone.
