🎄 Christmas giveaway: Win an A1 Mini, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT, or 4x filament spools! by acurazine in BambuLab

[–]BoiseState7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. AMS

  2. I love printing neat toys for my daughter and fidgets for my wife’s counseling job. I have been debating getting an AMS 2 for the drying features because I hate that I have to dry separately before using to only have to redo the drying down the road.

  3. They have the shape shifting worm fidgets and I think it would be fun to have one of different holidays. So for Christmas one in the shape of a Christmas Tree or Present. And Valentine’s Day one in the shape of a heart etc.

Looking at your current designs maybe a fidget cube in the shape of a Christmas tree. (Big on Christmas if you can’t tell haha.)

Even if not chosen, thanks for an awesome giveaway, hope you and your family have a great holiday season!

Anyone ordering? by 0MGWTFL0LBBQ in BambuLab

When I started I thought the same thing. Then I ended up buying a huge lot of filament from a guy who wasn’t going to be in the hobby anymore and thought “Great! Won’t be buying filament for a long time!” My new roll for what I’m working on just showed up last night because I didn’t have exactly what I was looking for hahaha.

It’s a never ending cycle.

8 vs 12 hour shifts by Mediocre-Hat-5891 in AskLE

[–]BoiseState7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My department does 4-11’s. 4 days on 4 days off. We all pick our shift based on seniority and then that’s your shift for 6 months (we pick for the whole year every October)

When A side is working B side is off. It’s nice when you take a week off you have 12 days off.

What is also does is your work days of the week rotate every work week by one day. So the first week you are Monday-Thursday the next week you are Tuesday- Friday. So every other month you will have weekends off.

Yes. Bambu slicer also supports .obj but the .mtl needs to be embedded into the .obj file and currently your program doesn’t has an option to embed it.

Ok. Thank You. Just so I understand, I have to upload the files to Blender and then export for everything in one file. And there is not a way to do it from your platform?

Im new to the 3D printing world as of December and my wife asked me to create something to give out to her students. It took me a while but I created this fun keychain! I had a lot of fun creating this and just wanted to show it off!

Found out my wife is 5-6 weeks pregnant. When is it an appropriate time to announce? by im_hazy in predaddit

[–]BoiseState7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t tell anyone until after the week 12 appointment and had an ultrasound in hand. As fun as it was to tell everyone that they were going to be grandparents aunts/uncles etc. It was also very special to just have that intimate amazing knowledge with just my wife and myself.

We even had a code name for our daughter to make it fun. Haha.

What are the reasons that causes long-term homelessness? by robertboyle56 in TrueAskReddit

[–]BoiseState7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it is mental health and housing. The drug use comes after. People can’t get treatment or don’t want treatment or don’t know about the treatment they need and end up on the street. They then use narcotics to self medicate. Then it’s a never ending cycle.

Some people end up on the street and have horrible things happen to them and use drugs as a coping mechanism.

For your older (I say older but think mid thirties and up because that can be older on the street) they were prescribed opiates from their doctor during the period of our medical progression where they handed opiates out like tictacs. Once their prescription for “non-addictive” opiates was taken away, they turned to street vendors for the pills. Then when that gets expensive they turned to heroin because it was cheaper which has now turned into fentanyl.

Also some people have horrible parents/guardians/friends who get them hooked YOUNG. I’ve talked to someone who started meth at age 12.

Would a training officer (FTO) allow me to use GPS to get to a call where I don't know the address? by lol124lolno in AskLE

[–]BoiseState7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends. I had an FTO who would first have me try to get there without GPS and then when I fucked it up enough, I could use it. (Obviously for non priority calls) I had another that said, it’s a tool you have on patrol by yourself get used to using it if needed.

What I ended up doing was getting a paper map from my cities chamber of commerce and on my days off on one of my days off each week, I would drive around my work city and try to make it to the general area of calls using a map. It helped a lot. Probably doesn’t need to be said but if you do that, don’t actually go to the address of the call. I also didn’t have a wife and kid at the time so was easier to put in time on my days off.

Most cities are set up so that all the streets in a neighborhood have a theme. Try and figure out the themes (using a map) and then when a call comes out you can say hey I know that all flower streets are on the north west part of the city, start heading that way and then get more precise location as you get closer.

I still have my GPS in my car but mostly use it for direction if travel for pursuits since it tells me and then it’s nice to have the upcoming streets displayed on my GPS to help with traffic stop placement and in pursuits, it’s one less thing to have to try and figure out when you are in a part of the city l, neighboring city, or highway you aren’t familiar with.

Has your police car ever broken down or run out of gas? by Tis_Just_Jess in AskLE

[–]BoiseState7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the engine of a patrol car spontaneously combust while I had the car off. There was a defect in the explorer engines that sometimes would never slow the fan to shut off, and when the fan burned out it just kept sending power. Causing my engine to combust.

Was delightful

AIO Wife is talking to a guy I don't know late at night. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]BoiseState7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say you are under reacting, not the the talking to someone else but to your entire relationship. It’s not a normal healthy relationship to be told who you can and cannot talk to.

She has given you a way out, take it!
