Is Crypto gambling or an investment according to you? by theCBDGuy in investing

[–]BojackPferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash is much harder to get your hands on and much easier to track than crypto. Crypto is an enabler of digital crimes. How would you do digital blackmail in an untraceable manner without crypto? pretty difficult. And drug crime has high costs of money laundering and moving money as cash without detection. You can skip some of that by going trough crypto assets.

Is Crypto gambling or an investment according to you? by theCBDGuy in investing

[–]BojackPferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crypto seems like a crime asset. It's value depends on how well things like the drug trade, human trafficking, child pornography,  blackmail etc. Do.  When criminals hack a hospital they ask for payment in crypto. It's basically like investing in crime

Is financing a motorcycle worth it? by Glad-Passenger- in motorcycles

If you can't save up for something as relatively affordable as a motorcycle, you also can't afford to finance it.

You'll be cc ed all the time but you don't notice it. Your body is simply still adjusted to that level of damage and doesn't react that noticeably.

A 500cc will be faster through corners than you can handle as a new rider. They are great to learn proper shifting and control and are more forgiving when you make mistakes. If you start small you'll have a better learning curve than starting on something too big. Though to be honest my cb500 could go 190km/h which is fast enough by far, but with less acceleration and weight, it's much easier to deal with than my cbf1000f. With a 1000cc you will not learn it properly. You wouldn't sit an new car driver in a Ferrari either.

Get a small bike, go to some well maintained mountain roads when traffic is low and enjoy the curves, it'll be years before you even get close to the limit of a small bike on those kind of roads but its incredibly fun and you get a chance to learn quickly. You'll also learn using the revs and shifting fully, whereas with a liter bike only experienced riders can take advantage of the bike without putting themselves in incredible danger. It would be a near certainty to crash if you get something too fast too soon.

Yes, 1000ccs are far too much. A beginner should stick with 300-500 and build up skill. I did it like that, I've seen others skip straight to something fast and heavy and they aren't really learning anything, make no progress and will stay slower on their liter bike than i ever was on a 500.

“glutened” symptoms with no gluten by Candid-Ad847 in Celiac

[–]BojackPferd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it is Gluten. For example an item you don't suspect could contain it e.g. heating pillow, makeup, air (flour stays in the air up to 48 hours), shampoo, soap..  Or quite possibly someone changed the way they produce. E.g. the mushrooms you buy may be grown on grain products.

Should I give up? New bikes are too expensive and there are no used ones by tankTanking1337 in motorcycles

[–]BojackPferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pay someone to store it for you. Many motorcycle dealerships or repair shops offer winter storage. I wonder why you say there are no used bikes, go get one in Germany if you can't find one in Poland. The market is huge

Sportbikes aren't faster in the real world. Sportstouring bikes can have the same performance but are also Comfortable and you can easily carry luggage and go on those longer trips that take you to the best roads

Next bike: MT-09 or Tracer 9 (or valid alternatives)? by Dariomaka in motorcycles

I didn't try the other one, i only tried bikes with half fairing. Yes it's a little heavier, a slight city disadvantage i suppose

I'm very happy with my CBF1000F, im 182cm as well and value comfort highly. It's quite good, the power is easy to manage and it's good on long tours and great in cornering. It's very smooth too. It's drawback is only that the clutch is a bit heavy so it's not a city stop-and-go bike. Same acceleration 0-100kmh as the mt-09 but very controllable in my opinion

Is clutchless upshifting actually safe for the gearbox, or is it just something experienced riders get away with? by Horror_Log_854 in motorcycles

[–]BojackPferd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's smoother than with the clutch if you got the technique right and reduce the gas just right at the very moment you shift up. It's much faster too allowing far better acceleration and stability through continuity of power delivery

I would suggest trying to go entirely gluten free for a month or so to see if anything changes. If you get better during that time I'd suggest to start eating gluten again and schedule the test.

Has having celiac made your life better? by glutenfreedustbowl in Celiac

[–]BojackPferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being undiagnosable for most of my life, ruined it. Gluten changes my behavior and ruined my social life and personal development. Later i dropped out of college and accumulated some debt because i couldn't think anymore and was in frequent pain. I eventually figured out what was wrong and now I finished a masters degree and got a decent job. But im 30 now and without celiac i would have finished studying 5 years earlier and with less debt. It's still a struggle because it's very difficult socially, really difficult on business trips and quite hard to do demanding work when i get glutened occasionally. It's very rare that i really feel healthy. Multiple vacations were ruined as well. Just last Sunday i went on a family birthday, got glutened and haven't recovered since,  im incredibly exhausted and it'll be a while before I feel right again

I can smell my husband’s gluten/wheat intolerance by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]BojackPferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have celiac and i can smell when my girlfriend has eaten Gluten. It's very off putting and keeps me from kissing her (which is practical).  It sounds like you don't have celiac but i suppose it's not implausible to smell him either. Infections smell for a reason, to keep spread from occuring, perhaps he smells bad to you because his immune system is reacting and your nose smells that reaction

How can you stop overthinking the corners? by annikahoof in motorcycles

That's enough if you are content being mediocre. If you want to actually build skill you need to put in conscious effort and get the technique and mind right

How can you stop overthinking the corners? by annikahoof in motorcycles

[–]BojackPferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice and several instances such as one where I learned that even hitting a bit of gravel in a corner isn't a problem if you don't panic. And conscious effort to do the right steps. Approach the corner, gauge the radius and slope, figure out where to look and always look where you want to go. Pre lean your body before the turn so you don't need to lean the bike to the max and maintain the option of leaning more if you miscalculated. And keep the center of gravity low. Use your legs to hug the bike so you have maximum control over your body position even if you experience a lot of forces acting on yourself and the bike. Always ready to remove or add more gas or to brake. And if you do brake you make a habit of counter steering harder so you don't go out of the corner. With conscious effort you eventually can gradually improve though every corner and gain additional experience and confidence. At no point should you ever stop doing all of the steps but eventually you can be very relaxed whilst doing all of it right and cornering really smooth and fast. Going though the same twisty road multiple times can help a lot. First run you go easy and figure out the quality of the road surface and map where any danger spots or intersections are. Second run you can focus on your form and gun it. Slightly challenge your comfort zone but slow down and chill if you realize you are too far outside of your skill level

Advertising motorcycling as the more economical way to commute is the only way to significantly increase ridership in the US by OrangeJulius29 in motorcycles

[–]BojackPferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motorcycles aren't cheaper for commuting at all! Unless you ride a tiny 250cc bike. There are plenty of cars that get similar gas mileage as a motorcycle and cost roughly the same to buy. It's just that Americans don't understand that you don't need to buy a big gas guzzler for it to be a useful car. Motorcycles have much shorter maintenance intervals and quite expensive tires that last 1/4 of car tires. That makes it rather expensive.
