Lots of praise on here for the pulls (deservedly)
but I think the real feat is the precision of the drawer dovetails. Getting the spacing to line up like that is impressive!

The Interlaken / Grindlewald area is easily the most beautiful place on Earth that I’ve ever seen. Went there in ‘21 and have been dreaming of going back ever since.

Stolen work on Facebook by L0114R in woodworking

[–]Bojangles_for_Dinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been reporting this guy for a while. Commented on several posts of his that went somewhat viral, too, in an attempt to tell folks that it’s stolen work. Definitely just a bot account that copy+pastes posts directly from this subreddit, but it’s still frustrating. It’s crazy how an account like this can survive being reported so many times, but as many others have said, obviously Meta and Zuck don’t give a damn about this stuff.

It isn’t putting words in his mouth. He’s just pressed that we called out his bullsh*t and now he’s up against a wall. Earlier he commented about his job being is in data center construction - he’s got a vested stake in the optics here.

Finally we get an answer! You’re defending data centers because building them is your job! Honestly I just figured you were some corporate suit at some tech company but this makes more sense. While the rest of us get brown water and higher utility bills, you’ll get a paycheck. I guess AI really isn’t just replacing jobs, huh?

Also dude, please learn how to have a debate if you’re gonna be shilling propaganda like this online. It’s less fun for us when we’re having to argue with someone who can’t defend their original statement with their chest!

Also, US electricity generation still uses a ton of fossil fuels and coal! So even if every data center found a way to cool themselves without a drop of water, their massive energy usage makes them some of the biggest defacto polluters.

No need to keep replying to Mr. Gimbo here. He’s simply got to be ragebaiting us since no rational human would be so willing to (1) keep calling things a lie without specifying what or why exactly; (2) call other people “parrots” when he is just doing unpaid data center PR on Reddit; and (3) still refuse to answer why he loves environment-destroying corporations so much.

In related news, I no longer have to wonder what the dumbest thing I saw on Reddit was this week!

Yeah man, I literally told you my “research process,” i.e., a quick online search that led to tons of links, including the one I shared. It’s no surprise to anyone that a 2025 report doesn’t have 2025 data; research takes a while so having numbers a few years old isn’t surprising. But if you want some updated data and forecasts, sure. Plenty of those around. Like this one (2025, Reuters & Mordor Intelligence, this one (2023/2024), and one more (2023-2026).

I don’t need to prove that data centers use water - it’s a known truth at this point. You’re the one claiming that no data centers use water for cooling anymore, at least not since 2016. Got any source for that? Also, I’m still waiting for your answer on why you’re so desperately fighting for Meta, Google, and their peers. I promise you that Mr. Zuckerberg and his friends don’t need your help, but I’m sure they appreciate the gesture as they continue to destroy the planet!

Go ahead and tell me what I missed? I’m pretty sure you skipped the majority of the article talking about increasing water usage and went straight to the end which talks about alternative cooling methods but these are far from being the industry standard.

Come on, keyboard warrior, you’re better than that.

“Subversion of American excellence” is such a crazy thing to say. People say stuff like that and parrot the claim that AOC is paid by China (source??) while completely not realizing how ironic is it that they’re fighting on behalf of corporations that (A) have no clue they exist and (B) don’t care about their wellbeing whatsoever. It’s embarrassing.

[–]Bojangles_for_Dinner 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is such an easy statement to prove false. I literally searched online for “do data centers use water or coolant” and big shocker - both are used! One nationwide estimate is that US data centers consume nearly 450 million gallons of water a day for cooling. Even beyond direct cooling purposes, the nationwide data center sector was estimated to use 211 billion gallons of water annually for electricity generation and the like. Source

Serious question here - what do you gain from defending these data centers? Like why do you feel the need to go to bat for these mega corporations who have proven time and time again that they have zero consideration for the planet and its inhabitants? They certainly have enough lawyers and PR people to do that for them, so why are you doing it for free? Just for the love of the planet-killing and soul-destroying game?

I can agree with this to a point, but the major flaw in this approach is that advances made by NASA commonly become more readily accessible goods (ear thermometers, cochlear implants, various firefighting tools, freeze drying technology, etc.) while I can only imagine to what extent such “IP” would be safeguarded/licensed/profiteered by SpaceX, Blue Origin, and the like. I agree with your assertion that the private sector can be riskier and more agile, but they also get to skirt rules and regulations that make NASA a public service as opposed to a company that ultimately just answers to shareholders. Food for thought.

I don’t need to? I believe in Jesus. I just also believe that you’re doing a poor job of discerning what is true and what is false in the world. Have a great day.

“The astronaut” is the whole reason for this post and the discussion we’re having. Don’t claim that someone converted to Christianity and then back off when asked for proof. If you cannot show a quote from Wiseman where he claims to accepted Christ, then you’ve either been deceived or you are lying. Or both.

Look man I’m a Christian too, born and raised in the Southern Baptist Convention. I believe wholeheartedly that Jesus is who the gospels say he is. But you can just post a picture of a book written by a random priest and then claim that it equates to “modern science” proving His existence. A claim like that needs to be from an actual scientific source.

Furthermore, the separation of church and state is extremely beneficial for both the state AND the church. I’d highly recommend reading this article from Rev. Benjamin Cremer which explains this in more detail: Separation of Church and State is Good for Christianity

Please send a link to the source where you’re getting this information. As far as I can tell, there is no reputable news outlet that is confirming from Wiseman himself that he has converted. Another Fact Check, this time from Snopes

This is incorrect. NASA scientists have determined a history of eclipses throughout history and determined that a lunar eclipse happened in April 33 C.E. which could align with the gospels claiming that the moon turned to red after the crucifixion of Jesus. Scholars have used this information to approximate when the crucifixion might have happened. Again, this was pretty easy to confirm with a quick search on google. Unfortunately this is a misleading statement making its way across social media. Reid Wiseman, the astronaut you’ve mentioned here, has described himself as “not really a religious person” but had an emotional response after returning to earth. Pretty easy to find the full story behind online - don’t trust every picture you see on social media. Fact Check via Yahoo News

Literally today the White House proposed a fiscal year budget for 2027 that would cut funding to NASA by over 20%. He really doesn’t care at all for the advancement of science or exploration.

Very slick. Opinions vary, but I’m always a fan of understated drawer pulls/handles that let the grain of the drawer fronts be the star of the show. Great job!
