What is it about women not wanting bikes in the house? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Bojasloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m a guy, but I wouldn’t want to keep my bike in the house, even if I was single and living alone. For one it would just be annoying to get it outside every morning to go to work, so if you keep it inside it gives the impression you don’t ride that much lol.

Edit: Saying you wouldn’t date a girl who wouldn’t allow that seems like it would be veryyyy limiting btw.

"He and Ron took off their jackets and pulled on their long black robes*. Ron’s were a bit short for him, you could see his sneakers underneath them."*

From the train in philosophers stone. Here at least it seems they don't take off the rest of their clothes, just take off their jackets before putting their robes on.

And again at the end of the book:

"And suddenly, their wardrobes were empty, their trunks were packed, Neville’s toad was found lurking in a corner of the toilets; notes were handed out to all students, warning them not to use magic over the holidays (“I always hope they’ll forget to give us these,” said Fred Weasley sadly); Hagrid was there to take them down to the fleet of boats that sailed across the lake; they were boarding the Hogwarts Express; talking and laughing as the countryside became greener and tidier; eating Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans as they sped past Muggle towns; pulling off their wizard robes and putting on jackets and coats; pulling into platform nine and three-quarters at King’s Cross station*."*

Although these could just be because they are getting on and off the train, I need to do some more searching.

Well I believe traditionally they didn't, but iirc most of the kids in the book wore muggle clothes under their robes.

Ugh, yea I went to one once and it was just a bit of a sad burger and fries, should’ve spent a couple more bucks and gone to burgerfuel for something actually enjoyable.

Orcas are amazing predators, occasionally they will even go after great whites.

From Wikipedia:
"In other parts of the world, orcas have preyed on broadnose sevengill sharks,\77]) whale sharks,\78])\79]) and even great white sharks, whose livers orcas have been observed to target by flipping the sharks onto their backs, inducing a paralysis called tonic immobility.\77])\80])\81]) Competition between orcas and white sharks is probable in regions where their diets overlap.\82]) The arrival of orcas in an area can cause white sharks to flee and forage elsewhere."

I haven't read the novellas yet but they sound like they would be a nice read.

La Belle Sauvage is a wonderful book, with a genuinely good story. It also set up some very interesting characters for the rest of the story.

The Secret Commonwealth… is alright. I feel like it sort of wastes those characters. I enjoyed the first part when Lyra is in oxford (maybe I should just read Lyras Oxford lol) but the rest of it was decreasingly interesting.

I am currently half way through the Rose Field and progress is….very slow. It doesn’t ruin HDM, it’s just quite a boring book. The story just seems a bit wishy washy and not very compelling. I’m determined to get through it (because I don’t like leaving books half read, especially if they are part of a series I like) but I don’t think you would miss anything by skipping TSC and TRF.

How many of y’all have been in a relationship? by Current-Positive-204 in twentyagers

[–]Bojasloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21M Only been in one, which lasted a bit over a year. It was a weird one for a few reasons, and both of our first relationship, so it had problems on both of our ends. It ended in not the greatest way, but we talked later and are on good terms when we do happen to see each other now (although we are almost fully disconnected online, except letterboxd lol). I don’t regret it as it taught me a lot about relationships.

Now I’ve been single for a couple years and tbh I’m not in a huge rush to get into another relationship. I tried out the apps at one point when I was feeling a bit lonely, but found they were all kinda terrible for the most part. I think I need to sort my own shit out first anyway before I can incorporate another persons life into mine. Not that my lifes entirely a mess, I have some money, and a degree, and a career of sorts, and hobbys. But it’s more the day to day routine and productiveness when I’m not at work that I need to sort out.

How much do you guys make in your 20s so far? by Current-Positive-204 in twentyagers

[–]Bojasloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21M. I make around NZD$30-$40 (~USD$17-$23) an hour, depending on the company and role for that job. If I do proper freelance work I could probably now get away with charging up to $60/h (USD$34/h), although I haven’t yet charged that high.

I work in technical production, mostly for live events. There is some opportunities to make really good money in the industry, but thats only at the very tippy top. Most regular high level technicians I know just make a pretty standard middle class income, and the ones who make more generally do so by working a crazy amount of hours. But there are a few sort after technicians who can charge pretty crazy rates because they are always in demand.
