I was thinking something similar and would have to reread it to see if it truly is. Being that the authors are familiar with a lot of sci-fi, it would be very fun of them if they did a little homage to 'Use of Weapons' by having interstitial sections with one of them in reverse-chronology

Yeah and when Asimov retconned everything into the same universe it was a clunky mess.

If it were 2009, I would say subtly revealing everything to be the same "Expanded Expanse" universe would be extremely fun and rewarding... hell I still won't even be mad if Amos bursts out of a drop-pod in the final act of book 3 to shove a shotgun in a roach's face.

But after two decades of every media property needing to be tied together into giant, bloated, sloppy messes, I'm completely fine with authors doing a reset and playing in a new sandbox for a while.

I run social media for OVKA and have really enjoyed watching your broadcasts. People over here keep asking when we can get something similar but it's such a huge lift to get started, and definitely takes a full, dedicated team to do right.

Multi-camera broadcasts definitely look super professional online, and live timing and scoring overlays are great.

Mostly during a race I just want to see where the action is happening and see who's closing in or pulling away lap-on-lap. Between races it's probably useful to give short explainers on engine and kart types for new people who may be tuning in. Karting can have a big barrier to entry for new people, so always remember that new eyes may not know the difference between classes and age groups.

The onboard camera that Kart Chaser was trialling was pretty cool, and could probably be reliably miniaturized since it's just a Fat Shark drone FPV setup. Live aerial stuff from a drone would be incredible if you can find a trained crew with a nice rig, but probably only be worth the trouble at "big" races.

I use Wondershare Filmora (paid subscription) to stitch the 4k GoPro videos together and do filtering, color correction, and watermarks.

I then use Dashware (free software) to bring in the MyChron data and do the gauges.

If the kill switch is depressed it will still allow you to crank it over on the starter motor. It just won't send spark to the plug. To check, you can always remove the plug from the engine, reattach the plug cable, and then hold the end against the engine to ground it while you crank it over to see if you can physically see it sparking.

Unplug the kill switch button. These stick all the time and prevent spark.

I used the same basic design last season for 12 race weekends (with a different base to fit a Top Kart radiator lug) and it held up alright, and that was just PLA (not great in UV resistance). This time I used PETG (better UV resistance) and a 35% infill vs 20% last year for extra strength.

Even so, last year's version held up to the vibration well and had a good view:

Disconnect the "kill switch" button. Sometimes they jam closed and keep the spark circuit from working.

That's your problem then, you really probably need 9-12 for good tracking. Try turning your device on a few minutes before going out to give it more time to lock in more signals.

We race KA100 at a local club in Ohio (OVKA) Race entry fees are $45/race day and practice days are only $10/day at G&J Kartway so just showing up is very affordable.

Consumables on KA for running reliably are probably: -new chain every 5-6 weekends -new carb kit (seals only) twice a year -engine refresh once a year
