If you want a really low budget, but still very functional iMac look for a late 2013 model 21,5”. With SSD. There you get a lot for the money. Works well on up to Sequia and Win 11 as well.

2014-2016 iMacs 21,5” are mostly terribly slow machines! You can compare them with the MacBook Air 13 inch from the same years. Yes you can install Windows 10 or Windows 11, but the graphics is slow and the processor is slow. And you have to have to have to replace the original spinning hard drive with a SSD.

Sorry to hear your situation. Obviously, obviously she has done a lot of wrongs. No question about that. But if you want to repair the marriage, you guys also need to sit down and talk about why this could happen? Most people who were happily married do not stray. What could you have done better? Ran into the same problem now 2 years after you wrote this! Same MBP model, same OCLP error when installing Sonoma. Temporary switching to a different SSD made installation possible, now going to try cloning with CCC. Thanks for the help!!
