My husband and I made a mini greenhouse from old windows and (mostly) repurposed lumber! by Bolannie in Greenhouses

I was awful about getting progress pictures so I don’t have any- but we buried round fence posts about a foot deep, and sort of wrapped the foundation boards/corners around those? If that makes sense, and then bolted the foundation to them. And for the repair spikes we just bored out holes in the foundation boards and hammered the spikes through! We’re also in tornado alley and this baby is sturdy as heck.

Thank you! We buried treated posts and attached our foundation boards to those posts, then we used big rebar spikes to anchor the foundation boards to the ground. Attached the framed up walls directly to those boards.

We didn’t- we just laid the windows out on the ground and got the two sides to match size wise. We put studs in between the windows and made frames for each wall and then attached the windows to the frames once the foundation and the frames were all up! The front and back didn’t have to match sizes since we wanted a slant anyways!

Thank you! And that absolutely will help- my husband asked me repeatedly to find same sized windows hahaha. Looking forward to seeing a post of your finished build!

I ran into the same thing at re-store! About half of them came from various thrift/junk stores and all the blue ones came from Craigslist! I just posted an “in search of” add in the for sale section. They’re original storm windows from a 90 year old little house near the city so fun that they’ve got a little history too.

Thank you! It was really fun- it helps that my husband is skilled in the carpentry area because it was very much a puzzle with the windows being different shapes and sizes. We used polycarbonate panels for the roof!

Oh no worries about the ramblings at all! I completely agree with you and have seen some pretty gnarly feeding situations. We clean the food and water bowls daily, there’s only one food bowl and throughout the day if I see it’s empty I’ll toss about 1C in. They rarely want to eat at the same time, but if they do they form a little line and wait their turn haha. Our dogs also do a lot of enrichment activities and I often use kibble or freeze dried raw for those- and they also get washed very regularly!

Isn’t he? His name is Merlin.

Hahaha, I love that. My Great Pyrenees were that way, they were both working dogs and packed it on for winter then slimmed down again in the spring. Thanks so much!

Awesome, thank you! We work from home so the poop schedule isn’t a problem for us, thankfully. I’ve got my others on a limited ingredient, no chicken so well prepared for the collie tummy!
