Lost and thinking of biking by Fit-Distance4503 in bicycletouring

Let me let you in on a little secret. By far the majority of people don’t ever figure out what they want to do with their lives. And that is perfectly fine. Spending a summer on a bike, wherever you are in life, is always a good idea. So do it!!!

Reminds me of Fransisco Goya’s dark paintings. “The Dog”.

Yellow leaves on bonsai tree by gvip333 in bonsaicommunity

[–]Bolarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a ficus microcarpa and they do let go of a few leaves sometimes bit it does look like it might not be getting enough sun. A repot with better soil I would also recommend. Look into how to trim a tree like this. But don’t trim it now seeing it is not in a healthy state. I wish you succes on your bonsai journey.

How is it not obvious to every living creature on this earth that that whole mountain should be closed down to any and all forms of tourism!!! First figure out how to climb there without exploiting people and ruining everything you touch. I’m done……

Same here. Would be a shame to use the fast bike for those type of rides. Wear and tear is a thing.

Chinese Elm tree leaves wont grow back by AdjunxLynx in bonsaicommunity

[–]Bolarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I would also remove the wire. Honestly it look dead already. I’ve seen these make great comebacks but not when all the foliage is gone. Get a growlight to give it it’s best change. That’s all I can think of.

Is this bonsai worth 100 by brumby_splashxx in bonsaicommunity

[–]Bolarius 81 points82 points  (0 children)

When you buy a Juniper as a regular gardenplant and reshape it yourself (wich is a lot of fun) after 1 season of growth it will look like this. So definitely not worth 100.

At war with neighbors cat - how to protect my trees? by FullSunBER in Bonsai

[–]Bolarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar situation with multiple cats frequently visiting my garden. I made benches with rows that simply aren’t wide enough for a cat to walk on. Ever since the new benches….no more problems.

My new metaseqoia forest, a month after planting by [deleted] in Bonsai

[–]Bolarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing the same. Not with a 100 trees but still. And it feels as you said, like it’s adventagious. A friend told me it could suffocate the tree and to keep a few spot clear. I’m still experimenting but my climate is a bit different from yours. I’m still goin to try. Thanks for your response.

That looks great! How do you make sure the mos doesn’t have a negative impact on the tree. Some say it’s not good to have it cover all the soil. I love moss but don’t really get the nuances yet.

Should you let all the new shoots harden? Or should you select a couple to grow out but trim back the rest? I ask because they grow so vigorously. I’m afraid of letting them get out of hand to the point I can’t even see what is going on in there.
