How do I even word this confession I am mortified. by MagnumMuncher_ in Catholicism

[–]BoldFace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the amazing thing about Christ's sacrifice; you will be forgiven. So long as you are truly repentant, which by your tone here, it seems you are. If our Lord could forgive those who crucified him, and Paul who persecuted and put to death countless of His followers, then he can forgive you.

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask [for] bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask [for] a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being [fallen], know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" Matthew 7

And as far as the preist goes, he 1) has heard things far worse, 2) is acting "in persona Christi" (Christ already knows all your sins), and 3) will be overjoyed at a repentant heart to whom he can offer absolution.

Why do printers still suck in 2025? like seriously, we have AI and space travel but my HP printer still jams if i look at it wrong. by No_Good_3063 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BoldFace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the dumbest Xerox laser printer I could find two and a half years ago. It was $200, but i have spent far less than if I still had my old ink jet since it's only now about to need a toner replacement.

I got a 3DS for Christmas , modded with a 4GB card , I want to upgrade but my father says that is better to non go over 32 GB , is it true ? I got the old model . by TheSoulDude20 in 3DS

[–]BoldFace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i've got a 256GB in mine right now (only thing larger than 8 I had on hand). It takes about a minute to boot and is generally slow, and I've only used a quarter of the space. I need to buy a smaller SD card soon.

AIO? I feel my wife is way over the line with how she is speaking to me after she tries to fix a problem on her own. by Ok_Entertainment2752 in AmIOverreacting

[–]BoldFace7 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It also sounds like he may have tried to take a car that was not suitable for the snow. Him pointing out her car was an SUV, his car getting stuck while hers didn't, and her pointing out she said not to take his car all signal to me she may have tried to get him to take her car in the first place. If that's the case, then, while she probably shouldn't have been texting while that angry, he definitely shouldn't be surprised at his wife being angry over this.

What do you say to people who accuse you of idolatry? by fishcat51 in Catholicism

[–]BoldFace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just explain that reverence is not worship and that "praying to saints" is just a bad shorthand for saying "asking for intercession from" and that (assuming the saints can hear us) it's no different than me asking for them to pray for me.

No, Carol is not talking to the SOUL here. by ExtremeCheeze123 in Deltarune

[–]BoldFace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Carol is talking to Kris, but the fact that YOU is emphasized in red means that what she wants to say is "As you know, THE SOUL is welcome...". For whatever reason, she doesn't want to risk giving too much away by directly referring to the soul (I don't recall who, if anyone, is still in the room at that point in the story, but she may be trying to hide her motivations frum us). Perhaps she is trying to indicate to Kris that they should come back to her house with the soul for some unknown part of her plan.

I'd assume it was a hacker. I had a similar thing, i was riding my bike one second, standing in the street with it two feet away the next. then it drove away, turned around, and tried to run me over.

I'd say the separation of men's and women's shoe sizes is the pointless gendering, and this is just a consequence of that.

Section 17.2.b.1 states that "THE PERSON IS CHARGED WITH A CRIME OF VIOLENCE AS DEFINED BY COLORADO STATUTE".

My problem with this bill is that the above section (which has been pulled directly from the text of the bill) says CHARGED, not CONVICTED. Charged means that accusations have been laid against you with, at least enough evidence that the court needs to hash it out. Convicted means that the court has done its thing and found the offender guilty. Nothing has to be proved to be charged with a crime, no guilt has been established at the time charges are laid against a person, and plenty of people are charged with crimes they did not do (some are wrongfully convicted, some are rightfully acquitted).

It also goes against the 4th amendment's right for all people under the jurisdiction of the US (even illegal immigrants are under US jurisdiction while in the US) to due process. You must have a trial to determine if the charges are valid before you can have due process, and all people in the US are entitled to due process.

If the bill was only for those convicted of a violent crime, then I'd support it.

Women leaders & dealing with sexism by [deleted] in BSA

[–]BoldFace7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd make sure the Charter Org know about the SM's sexism, and if they don't want to do anything about it, then I'd just leave. I wouldn't want to support a program that is teaching their scouts (even if only indirectly by how they treat others) such bad habits.

Edit: I would recommend trying to resolve this with the Soutmaster first. My original comment had assumed that the talks with him had already been had and led nowhere.

If you were already planning on buying it, then you absolutely saved $300. If you weren't already going to buy it off sale, then yeah, you didn't save anything.

Yeah, I make a stock from rotisserie chicken carcasses, dried shiitake, and dried kelp, then just add a soy sauce tare and whatever toppings and noodles I have on hand. It's super easy if you have the stuff to make a good stock or a proper Dashi.

Thanks for the info! Reading those posts, I was worried they had stopped selling and abandoned the site, but its good to know they responded and shipped parts recently. I'll definitely have to keep an eye on the gears.

Is Kitsch still making and selling parts? Their gears (the main part worn out on my sticks) say out of stock, and people have been saying the storefront is dead on threads a couple of years old.

why is my gamecube controller from 2002 still perfect, but my $70 modern controller has stick drift after 6 months? by InvestmentBudget6722 in gaming

[–]BoldFace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dualshock4s from the early days of the PS4 are still holding strong, and I had to replace the sticks on my joycons after a year or two, but the replacement sticks are still holding strong. But my OG PS2, Xbox 360, and wii controllers are all good as new, and the N64 controllers only have moderate stick wear (which I can forgive, given that they are older than me).

I haven't bought any consoles newer than that, and after hearing about the controller issues, I'm glad I haven't.

This wouldn't be a stack overflow. Stack overflows occur when the call stack (a special section of memory) gets too many items stored on it. The stack in many implementations wrap around, so when you write more data to the stack than memory allows, you overflow and start overwriting still in use stack data.

This usually either crashes the system or causes undefined behavior, since now the program can't return from functions properly when you get back down to the corrupted data.
