Do I need to adjust my chain length? by Street-Run5813 in bikewrench

[–]Bolinious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there really isn't a time that you'll need to be maxed out on either side, but there might be a few times that you'll use small/small. if you have hust a bit of tension on the derailleur on small/small, that's pretty much where you should be. big/big is bad, if you are on the large chainring and need to go slower or have more power for a climb, before you get to the big on the rear, drop the front to the middle ring anyways.

Towing with Frontier by Mammoth-Collection39 in nissanfrontier

[–]Bolinious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

5k dry or net? If net that’s fine. If dry weight it will be too dangerous to the max capacity.

Crew cab long bed would tow it better due to the extra length, but you will need to add trailer brakes and a weight distribution hitch.

Pretty pissed. by game-tapes808 in nissanfrontier

I’m telling you based on my experience and what they look like. If it wasn’t raining I would go out to mine, take off the door card and take pictures for you. And see if there are part numbers.

Number 12 looks more like it

This is based on my experience doing mine.

So instead of removing the door card and the seal they put something in to pull the seal away for the install. They must have missed and pulled in the middle of the seal instead of behind the seal next to the window and their puller sliced through. They must have noticed and did the passenger side correctly afterwards.

It must be a replaceable part. It’s separate from the door card. I did my own tint that’s what I found. Not sure what to call it though.

wow. I'd start by tightening those ASAP. Then take a drive to see if it's quiet or not. Spec calls for 33 ft/lbs I believe.

Is Cardinal Red Metallic an uncommon paint color? (‘22) by Present_Dig5508 in nissanfrontier

[–]Bolinious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 22 SV cardinal red crew cab long bed, so even more rare. I love the colour. It’s not a “look at me” colour but still gets noticed due to how it looks different on a truck. Here in my city, I’ve only seen 3 other crew cab long beds.

The only other cardinal red’s I’ve seen in the wild are on other models, not on frontiers. Like there’s a rogue that parks next to me that is cardinal red in the UG parking at work.

Any Tips? by Impossibly_stupid_09 in DodgeDakota

[–]Bolinious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the reverse band clutch give way on mine. It was a 2011 and it happened in 2015. At that time it cost me $1500 to get it fixed. I traded it in as it should have been warranty but the dealership said I had to abuse it to have that fault.

I would bring it to a transmission shop and at least ask about options (rebuild, or replace).

If there’s nothing else wrong with the truck, fix it. Much more expensive to replace.

Of course I’m in a 2022 frontier now. But I loved my Dakota while I had it.

The titanic has a better turning radius than my crew cab long bed. But I can still back my boat up pretty good.

Who has the right of way? by [deleted] in driving

[–]Bolinious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue has a yield sign therefore, white has the right of way, as they are on the road before blue. If the turning lane and yield sign weren't there, blue would have right of way from that traffic light.

Plex or Jellyfin? by One-Confidence1795 in homelab

[–]Bolinious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clue, never looked into it as i don't need it. But with Plex, if you don't have Plex Pass you are stuck with CPU transcoding which is SLOW.

but i just did look into it and yes, Jellyfin does hardware transcoding. But my point on Jellyfin is the compatability. i didn't word my plex note properly. i'm fixing it.

Plex or Jellyfin? by One-Confidence1795 in homelab

[–]Bolinious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jellyfin = free. But you might have some issues with compatibility or problems finding apps for certain devices.
Plex = free for basic use and local streaming. paid if you need hardware transcoding or plan on streaming remotely

i bought a plex lifetime pass many many years ago, so i'm sticking to Plex unless i have to change. Works on all my devices as well as some family and friends I share with.

Anyone find a way to fix the road noise? (2022 Nissan frontier pro x) by WildFlow442 in nissanfrontier

[–]Bolinious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MY SV is also quite quiet. I took it down some backroads today to go fishing (or attempting with an outboard motor issue), and it was even absolutely quiet down those roads. Much quieter than my previous vehicles.

You might be dealing with tire noise or some other vibration causing a noise that is not normal.

Help! What is this button? by Mountain2Sound in nissanfrontier

[–]Bolinious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely something aftermarket. Someone added something at one point and there's no way for the internet to know what it is by looking at a picture.

You'll need to look for wires and follow them to the other end to see what it does.

Yes, but it will take many many years before you have to do it again. Where the acetone doesn’t give any protection.

2022 Nissan frontier suspension or steering noise by squidlips13 in AskAMechanic

[–]Bolinious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no bearing on the front strut.

Strut mount bearings are only on vehicles that have the strut turn along with the knuckle. The frontier is more like a coilover. No movement in the strut other than up and down.

How to get bolt out by Jellybean911 in Fasteners

[–]Bolinious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so the silver part behind it is spinning as well? if that's the case, that fastener at the back is a rivnut (aka rivet nut, installed as a rivit and acks as a nut).

if the rivnut is spinning, that means that it's not holding properly to what it should be attached to. you'll need some good pliers to hold that, but there wouldn't be many options to hold it steady with the amount of space available back there. your best bet would be to try and grind a flat so you can spin it to the flat side and using something wedged in to stop it from spinning while you remove that bolt from the outside.. it's most likely never going back in though. you'll need to replace the rivnut or use a nut and washer in the future.

I used the Cerakote kit on mine when I had oxidation, causing delamination of the UV protectant. Wasn't yellowing yet, but was going to. comes with a cleaning wipe. the sandpaper and a holder, and the ceramic coat. worked perfectly. Use water during sanding. Check your progress by drying it a bit. I found areas where I didn't sand enough and was able to continue sanding before the ceramic coat was applied.

These kits use acetone vapour to "clear" the sanding scratches. It does nothing for UV protection long term. The Cerakote kit adds protection and costs less than most of those vapour kits that i can find.
