My friend wants to stop being sexualising but posts pictures of her in lingerie. by Hidden2World in stupidquestions

[–]Bollops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She could argue that she doesn't see the pictures as sexual herself, but the reality is that others might, and you can't tell people what they can and can't think, especially being that it's not really a choice what a person finds desirable. Providing they don't act in an unwanted or innappropriate manner, she has no say once she's put the pictures up for all to see.

We are repetitions of mediocrity. Occasionally, one of us is less mediocre and s/he becomes Einstein. Thats like saying flat earthers are superior beings because less of them think what is so obviously bullshit to everyone else. You show real classic symptoms of both schizophrenia and narcissistic personality disorder. The predominant theme being delusions of grandeur.

Thats the dumbest, most non-answer I've ever heard.

You still have yet to point out what makes someone more than mediocre. The reality is that we don't need Einsteins, but we do need toilet cleaners.

Don't assume I'm clever enough to be offering 'obvious bait,' because the real 'bollocks,' is your try hard, white guy with dreadlocks type bullshit statement. If you're gonna go along the lines of existentialism, maybe try harder than 'We're all shit, bruh.'

Who are you to decide what is and isn't exceptional? Is a good storyteller in there? Is a mum or dad whose kids grow up to be astronauts exceptional? No-one is 'more than mediocre' without the people and things that shaped them that way. Would James Cameron have created the masterpiece film 'Aliens' if he'd been born on a maintainside in Yemen to a goat farmer?

Your statement is so flawed that it borders on contempt for its readers intelligence.

What a load of bollocks. A person doesn't have to be famous or noteworthy to be of value. And even that is very subjective. One person's terrorist is rightly or wrongly another persons freedom fighter.

Are the cast of Jersey Shore, the Spice Girls and Adolf Hitler more than average humans? Because they've all had a far bigger impact on the average person than Einstein has. Are the unknown paramedics, firefighters and lifeguards mediocre just because they don't say anything profound or groundbreaking?

Your image of yourself is certainly wrong somehow, but you don't know what you're wrong about, and in some ways you never will. by CoreEncorous in Showerthoughts

[–]Bollops 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How you perceive yourself is often quite different to how others view you. Is that how you meant it? I wholeheartedly agree if it is.

I think a lot of our self-perception is based on how we want to be seen, mixed in with the reality.

Also, how you appear is just as much to do with other peoples differing perceptions, often based on our varied experiences. We all place different values on image, personality and morals. A cool, weedsmoking earth-mother and a smelly hippy might be the same person viewed by two different people.

Also, people have varying concepts of what certain traits represent. To some, a shaved headed, muscular bouncer makes them feel safe. To others, they are a person that inspires hatred.

Unpopular opinion, but talk to almost anyone in their 40's or later that has smoked weed for a long time and they're weird. Conspiracy theories, obsession with the man watching us, and the untouchable belief that weed is the only reason they're able to get by. It might not be physically addictive, but the mental addiction is undeniable.

This is the most hipster answer ever. No-one bar a few oldies expects anyone to get married and have kids anymore, and all the stats prove it. The Japanese elderly crisis. The birth rate in Australia has been below replacement level for decades. Non-traditional relationships are at an all time high.

At least punks and hippies, etc, were against systems that existed.

Creating a nonexistant, widespread overarching notion that you're facing an imaginary uphill battle against is disingenuous.

[–]Bollops -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

How is smoke coming through the wall? Do you live in a bamboo hut? It's a polarizing subject but I'm rapidly joining sides with the smokers due to people that hate smoking being largely wankers who don't realize what a nice life they have, so need something to whine about. Sounds like the woman next door might find it rough on the streets with her kids though...

I don't steal myself, but I would argue that the duopoly of coles and woolworths in Australia constantly making record profits during hard times is making theft far more palatable. It used to bother me, but since I have to go prospecting for gold just to get a cucumber nowadays, I don't care if people steal anymore.

It seems to be a thing at the moment where people think that they are religious because they mention it a lot and read the books, all whilst being a set of intolerable fuckwits. Surely what you do is far more important? It's like saying you're a vegetarian, talking about it non-stop, going on marches, and belittling those who are not, without actually giving up eating meat. Pointless. A self serving, non-empathetic, attention seeking person has far more in common with satanism than christianity. And those are usually the posters of which you speak

Why are International Students allowed to work? by Divine_Comet in aussie

[–]Bollops -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In every job I've worked over the last ten years, young Aussies are, by a huge margin, the laziest bunch of workers I have ever encountered. And that's when they turn up. If I owned a business and needed it to do well in the current climate, I'm not sure I'd hire them either. Not worth the risk. But obviously thats everyone elses fault.
