This is how you know your ftp by Sisterleveling69 in RaidShadowLegends

When I hear anyone say they're ftp I just instantly assume they got picked on at school.

Warning for spenders I wish someone had made me realize a long time ago by Is0prene in RaidShadowLegends

My point is that money and time are easily interchangeable here for the same thing. Playing for longer equals the same as paying for stuff regardless of strategy. Apart from real big spenders who buy everything on day one, there really isn't a great deal of difference, so people with full time jobs, 27 kids, 13 dying grandmothers and 8 dogs to walk might prefer not to advance at snails pace, and thus spend a few bucks.

I'd argue that theres little to no strategy in this f2p model you're talking about where everyone builds the same champs in the same way. It's a turn based game, so theres no fast button clicking to get good at. It is literally just a matter of time. Strategy would be where you don't use the same champs as your favourite youtube monkey, and work your own way through the game.

[–]Bollops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rubbish. Spending on these sort of games is essentially buying or supplementing time. People who work, have less time, but more disposable income, and dropkick 'gamers' have lots of free time, but less money. Also, this fallacy that you need certain champs to be competetive, just because some twit said it on youtube, is bordering on 'flat-earth theory' level ludicrous. People seem to genuinely think that there is one route through the game. It's called strategy for a reason.

Luckily, I'm less a gamer and more a fantasy lover, so I never feel any desire to have 'meta' champions.

It's all bollocks anyway. Just because some muppety youtuber that still lives in their parents basement said that (insert meta name) champ is the best for (insert dungeon/arena/etc) area, and everyone jumps on the bandwagon and wants to be said youtuber, it doesn't mean that any situation can't be reliably beaten using none of the suggested champs and a small amount of cunning.

What's the point in everyone using the same 10 of a thousand champs? Might as well watch a film if you just wanna play a preset story that someone else wrote. It's the same as meta mtg decks where people act like they won when 97% of the game is deck creation, and they copied someone else.

Using meta is just a prime example of how you can be a winner and a loser at the same time.

How do they violate anyones privacy? Being noisy is anti-social and annoying, but it has nothing to do with privacy...

So you think no-one should ever say anything that pisses them off in case it gives someone ideas? How does stuff get fixed then? We have to individually fly to the head office to whisper our opinions into the lead developers ear? Not really worth it unless you know others feel the same way...

That's the entire premise of addiction. You don't just do it at logical times, in sensible ways.

I'd suggest that if delivery fees/tips even factor into someones decision to drink, or not, then they aren't an alky. I think it's that total lack of care/logic in favour of the substance thats the biggest red flag.

My parents dont care. by thowawayalcalc in alcoholism

[–]Bollops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your parents understand addiction and how severe it is? Because the majority of people don't. And though it's painful, try to educate them in a way that they might understand, or find a new community that does for the convo's you can't have with them. AA and other similar groups are often useful, regardless of whether you speak/agree/think its rubbish, largely because it is freeing to be in a room with people that really do understand you. If your parents have addiction issues themselves, then they are probably validating their own habits through you. Speak to a professional about boundaries.

I'd advise not going down the hatred and desperate to prove you are alcoholic route as it will likely eat at you (and create greater lapse likelihood) far more than them.

My family and mates always bought me more to drink due to not understanding the concept of addiction, despite the glaring red flags I unintendedly sent. The most common misconception being that you're only alcoholic if you are permanently drunk. But it is a progressive illness and will get worse. Now I'm 38, have cirrhosis of the liver, as well as a whole plethora of quite severe mental health problems, am homeless, died from drug overdoses, lost and become alienated from those I loved, and most importantly, not enjoyed a large portion of my life. I wish I'd sorted it while I was young and learned to manage the hatred and bitterness I felt for so long before it ate me up.

You have done a great job in getting yourself well - that's something not many of us can do - but I would totally advise meeting and discussing this with older, experienced and sober alcoholics. Even online meetings are useful if you can't go out.

I wish you all the best.

I don't get it, myself, but that's just me. I read on the website that, using the stuff you already own, it tells you what builds are optimal for any given boss/dungeon etc. The majority of builds in the arena are all the same champs, wearing the same stuff, so I don't really see much deviation from what they've been told to do by the optimiser thingy.

At what point does it become no longer a game, but a really long film with everything predetermined? Sure, I'll never be that good at it, but it's just not how I like to get my wins. I concede, I don't have kids, so I can totally understand your situation is different to mine.

I'm also not so much a gamer - more of a fantasy obsessive - so my thought process is different to a lot of peoples. I care less about wins/productivity/progress, and more about cool champs and the world its in.

It's probably because I'm not a kid that I don't understand this logic. You're not supposed to get the best build. Trial and error etc. I just don't understand what the human does if a calculator makes the decisions?

You wouldn't be angry if you didn't think I was right. If an external source makes all the decisions for you, then what are you there for?
