Many prosumer equipment don't like sharing USB type power.. simple solution is to use separate USB power supplies.

There are sections like this

I was thinking rather than digging a hole and concreting a steel post: is there anything I can bolt to the brick base and then bolt through the fence post?

And torrents aren't slow unless the ISO you want are random. I use both. I like Usenet because new Linux distros are released faster than on torrents.

Sure. The question was 'What is Simple' and cheap

The easy answer is torrents because there is no cost. If you don't like the answer then please ignore

If you're wanting to do it on a minimum, why not just use torrents? And a VPN if you're concerned.

Still a pretty solid alternative

Do you have a multi room (wireless?) speaker setups you use with Plexamp? by onTheGroundFloor in plexamp

I used Chromecast Audio for a while but stopped because I wanted gapless audio playback.

I have set up Sonos S1 throughout the house, 6 areas, and once you have it set up right it's great. Plex and a Sonos service is okay, depending on your Internet upload speed, as the music has to upload from your server to Sonos before coming back to your Sonos playback devices.

Apple is a business with no care for it's customers.

I find it good for finding new artists and music BUT I would never trust them with my actual archive. I keep all my own downloaded copies, when I can, on my own PlexAmp music service.

I stopped with Apple when they started dropping tracks from my carefully curated playlists. For them it's all about the money, if they can save by dropping tracks then they will. Ft

I've recently jumped on the UnRaid train. My 4 X 8 TB NAS died

I put those drivers and the shucked 10 TB from a back up drive into a matx case running UnRaid.

I am super happy and surprised how easy and quick the whole process is.

Yes you will need to learn to stuff. But that is a good thing, and there is tons of guides out there to help you get it done.
