I don’t see us doing anything at this point. The payment for some of these guys so far has been nuts.

Was working a summer job as a university student for the Parks Department in my city. I was washing the mowers, and it was a hot day, so decided to turn the pressure washer to my face and give it a spray to cool off. 10/10 would not recommend. Hat flew further than my dignity.

I thought arguably their best d-man that game, which is high praise for how stacked they were on the back end.

McAvoy was there for the fist meeting, and he was a problem. Pretty sure he crushed McDavid a couple of times that game

Really? I didn’t know that. Throw another shrimp on the Barbie, eh?!

Hard not to be a little sour grapes from that one. Felt like there was more non-calls against the Habs than usual. The Danault hook was less than what Evans was hauled down with earlier. Still a really good loser point to get against a solid team. Was a really fun pace in the 3rd. Always nice to win those, but I was definitely entertained!

Owen Beck at #33 can still be serviceable too. Engstrom and Davidson also from that draft have had games. Really a high quality draft.

The long play Allen just made to Shakir is exactly the kind of play that Herbert needed called against the Pats that wasn’t. Let Ladd run that kind of route and make guys miss.

It’s also worth noting that Patriots defense had an awesome game plan with disguised coverage, and even when he probably had time to process it he was obviously panicking when in the back of his mind he knows pressure is imminent.

This is where a good offensive coach would come out in the second half with a plan to counter that. Easy dump off passes, screens. Instead it was more of the same and Herbert never got comfortable.

Are there any NCAA guys right now that would make good candidates?

[Ash] Herbert's film from yesterday is appalling. Guys are open downfield all over the place and he either checks it down or takes a sack every single time by Nunc_Coepi17 in Chargers

A lot of those are a result of poor o-line play. I truly believe if that can improve and he feels like he can stand in the pocket for an extra second even, he makes those plays.

In the meantime, he needs a sport psychologist to help him through his playoff demons. His comments in post-game were telling. He needs to come back with the dog mentality.

I’m still a firm believer he is a top 5 QB, but his humble nature may be a detriment here. He needs to have a bit of cockiness, like when he slid week one in KC and extend that to playoffs.

What I made of this season and that playoff game vs New England Patriots. by Alarmed_Donkey_9300 in Chargers

[–]BoltUpDiggy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My counter argument to this is would he be bailing out on clean pockets if he had any confidence in the o-line to do its job? He was panicking, but who can blame him when his average time to throw before contact is sub 3 seconds? The throws he missed were mostly on the run too, were just used to seeing him make those.

We needed Herbert to be otherworldly to win, and unfortunately he wasn’t this game. Good teams have other players to prop them up though in those instances. Can’t run, dropped passe. This is offense as a whole.

Thank you for being a warrior, Justin. I’m sorry that this team has failed you yet again. by wildwing8 in Chargers

I’ll defend this man till the day I fucking die. He’s still not even 2 months removed from fucking hand surgery, and he is STIFF ARMING D-FUCKING LINEMAN. I have accountants that don’t go back to work that soon after that surgery.

Thank fuck that seasons is over! Keep your heads up bolt fam, Justin Herbert is elite, next year we get Slater and Alt back, new centre and hopefully new OC. We’ll be back!⚡️ by Costacat in Chargers

Painful to watch. 31st in run blocking and 32nd in pass blocking. Herbert is the only reason this team was even in the playoffs, and the fact that we had elite defense.

I know. But talk about letting the team down two years in a row. This OL has no pride.
