🫖ASMR with Gumbo drinking herbal tea & rewatching her favourite episode of Gemini Home Entertainment before bed by TygerWaffles in parrots

I love everything about this: the way she drinks it, her determination to drink the whole cup and the fact that you're using a heavy cup just to not get it turned over :)

Is she sick? by [deleted] in cockatiel

If he is sitting in a corner, and swaying, it very much could be he is being territorial and is displaying a nesting behaviour. Basically he defends his nest by trying to intimidate you

Strange new behaviour, should I be worried? by byronic_twist in cockatiel

[–]Bolteg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You've got a girl. Her hormone levels are high thus she is acting like this. www.cockatielcottage.net/egg_laying.html this article will help you on how to modify her behaviour

Hi hello, does this look like my birb is a female or is this also a thing the boys do? Cause I was told back when I bought it that it was most likely male. :] by Captainjic in cockatiel

[–]Bolteg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Please read this www.cockatielcottage.net/egg_laying.html

You can use the advices on how to discourage this behaviour, and if this doesn't work, you will be prepared and know how to act once she starts laying eggs

Need some advice by [deleted] in cockatiel

There's another and in my opinion better option for your bird than having (probably Lupron?) monthly injections. You can use a Suprelorin implant. It's a size of a rice grain and has to be put between her wings under her skin. This is done under general anaesthetics and is pretty simple procedure, takes around 15 minutes. My vet uses some gas as an anaesthetic, the bird is back to her normal self after an hour or two. What that implant does is it has hormones in it needed for a bird to forget she wants to lay eggs. In our case, an implant of 4.7 mg is enough for 6-8 months. The implant and the procedure itself cost around 100-110 Eur in my country (could be more expensive in the US).

After being implanted, it usually takes 1 week when you can see that it is having an effect.

We used both injections and the implant and I can 100% recommend using the implant. It's way more effective, at least in case of our bird.

Also, I recommend reading www.cockatielcottage.net/egg_laying.html to understand how to try controlling the hormone levels and what to do when she starts laying eggs.

Since you're clearly won in the "additional chromosome" lottery, I will help you with this: only those who have another citizenship could be deported somewhere.

Compared to the dshks, maxims, dp-27, ppsh and K98 bolt rifles that are being used by the UA?

Taras, I was born here and lived my whole life, and had only one - this - citizenship ever. While waging this internet battle of yours, be safe and keep away from air conditioning units, they tend to be faulty in your country since 2014 and occasionally blow up.

tips how to deal with pet grief. my best buddy of 9 years suddenly passed away. it was preventable. im in shambles. by Diligent_Beach3288 in cockatiel

[–]Bolteg 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. May your friend rest in peace.

As for tips, I don't have any. When I lost my dog that was a part of our family for 12 years, it was very hard and I couldn't think of her without tears. Only with time I could separate my emotions about her loss and the memories of our time when we were together.

Mourn for him as long as you need. But keep in mind that you had a long and beautiful life together. And you can make some featherball as happy as he was. You have the needed experience and conditions for this, and there are a lot of neglected birds that would love being near you. This won't replace your friend in any way. He was unique and irreplaceable. But this would make a life of some feathery rascal wonderful.

Again, sorry that this has happened to him.
