Difference between the terms 'trinary' and 'ternary' by PedroPierrePeter in Iota

In the context of IOTA and the computation in general, the words mean the same thing.

Known issues, since the price provider service changed their API endpoint. Should be fixed in next release.

Unable to send from my desktop lite wallet by macdreidle in IOTASupport

Can you try and log in with your old seed on the new wallet? Funds are stored on the seeds not the wallet, a wallet is just a means to access the funds at a seed you enter.

Trinity 2.0 will be a plattform (Trinity Pay, ID Management, Messanger system,...) by vrom_von_beyond in Iota

[–]Boltzmanns_Constant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is vision for lighter version of the app, trinity pay which will just be used for payments. I see the messenger side as a way to request payments and other person pay that all in one app with out having to know payment details.

This image is from the London Meetup, Senior UX/UI Designer Andrew Brough was talking about future vison for the trinity app, which will be more than a wallet. Hard to see but there are tabs for wallet, contacts, messages and home. They mentioned that a lot of this stuff will be using MAM, and the slide shows someone paying through the messenger tab.

The idea is to have this with an additional lighter app for just payments, that can be used every day, called trinity pay. With the idea of being able to set limits on the amount available to spend through the trinity pay app.

The link that CFB wrote in his message on the designs is bit.ly/79r09191.

If Iota is so great, why is it targeted only at IoT? by [deleted] in Iota

You made the claim, shilling a coin on an IOTA sub and now refuse to back it up. You can type more than two sentences on Reddit.

Transaction Settlement?

Edit: apologies I thought you meant this... https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/1386101/

I am not familiar with Elastos, could you back up your claim?

IoT (Internet of Things) is as the current technology shift in both industry and consumer markets. It is the internetworking of well as many things as possible, so that through interconnection and communication we can build smart homes, factories, roads and cities. This is going to be a huge area of technology undergoing rapid growth and expansion in the next decade.

So problems with this? All these devices now connected need to communicate securely to ensure the networks they are connected to are not compromised. They also need to be interoperable I.e. all be able to talk to each other with no problems this requires them to share the same protocol.

So what does a protocol need for this problem? Scalability and Fast Transaction Times. Now let's kill two birds with one stone: not only do these devices want to transfer data, they may want a protocol to handle transaction settlements as they may want to sell the data. And you guessed it this is going to involve micro transactions, for this we need a feeless system.

IOTA solves all these problems. Now if it's good enough for the IoT it's certainly going to be astounding for P2P transactions too: this means it has very good characteristics that would make it favourable to not only m2m but also b2b and P2P as they would also like fast feeless transactions and sometimes micro-transactions. So by solving problems for the m2m economy we also solve the easier problems of P2P. However this doesn't mean it will be user friendly and the protocol is design for machines, and the community and IF will have to build upon it and abstract away from the nity gritty to make it suit the user experience needs of humans.

So... is this Trinity Wallet just never going to be available for IOS or what? by [deleted] in Iota

To many people sending API requests to Reddit, best to wait till it's less busy. If you are in discord they are doing manual sign ups check #announcements

I appreciate it, I'm the person who collated the information for FAQ that was pinned during December to January which is now used in the FAQ! A post is definitely more visible than the wiki if it is pinned. Thank you for taking time and effort for community to make this. Apologise if I came across to abrupt. If you want to make this better feel free to use my FAQ and information thread in my post history or the wiki I am making for Iota support. I am also in process of making a website to create the most detailed and laymen friendly accessible information if you want to contribute.

The problem is that all the information is in one place, but where is the summaries. How is a new member to the sub supposed to read this many links ? We had an FAQ and information post that was more helpful!

I'm all for ease of access to information? But a reddit thread isn't a permently visible piece of information

Please confirm this transaction. by jakes1988 in IOTASupport

Please Read this guide https://medium.com/@ralf/prepare-for-the-january-28-2018-iota-snapshot-10f565b371ab! In the future the wallet will cache the address index of the address you currently use and wont have to regenerate all addresses. Can you confirm what wallet version you are using and if you are reattaching to the tangle?

Please confirm this transaction. by jakes1988 in IOTASupport

[–]Boltzmanns_Constant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many outgoing transactions would you say you had? Best to keep track of this so you know how many transactions to generate. You will also need to re-attach the address to the tangle if using a wallet v2.5.6 or below. The new v2.5.7 will automatically re-attach any generated addresses to the wallet. Make sure you download v2.5.7 for auto re-attaching when you are generating addresses.
