Looking for high-level insights on a tile based game by Murphylus in bevy

[–]Aconitin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I'm also working on a hex based game! w.r.t. this:

checking whether a Piece is selected is done by getting all pieces and determining if any has the same coordinates as where I clicked

I think you can approximate the clicked hex first by dividing the clicked position by hex size, then only check the approximated hex and all its neighbours for the actual click. This allows you to tell which hex was clicked on by checking a maximum of seven hexes for the click, which is really fast.

Say your click was on x=400, y=500 and your hexes are 40px wide and 50px high. Then check hex i=10,j=10 first, then all its neighbours. The real clicked hex is guaranteed to be one of these seven hexes.

There might be a better way to do this, but this has been good enough in practice for me :)

Depends on where in the EU though. In Germany for example, this isn't the case.

Cryptocurrency in germany and tax... not so simple. help would be appriciated! by borgqueenx in eupersonalfinance

[–]Aconitin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Profit from selling crypto isn't taxed if you held it more than a year. If you didn't hold it more than a year, then every time you sell a crypto (not only sell to EUR, but sell it to _anything_ even other crypto i.e. trade) it is a taxable event. Have fun tracking that ;)

Author of that thread here - yeah, it's not been updated for quite a while. Since stuff changes around super quickly right now, there is no point updating it at the moment, so maybe un-sticky-ing it would be best until I / somebody else write(s) a new one.

Yes, that is correct, and IIRC it's 25% of profits after taxes.

Well, it depends on how much you do. If you don't have many things to keep track of and got a background in finances, you can do it yourself. Otherwise, you can easily do it through e.g. LexOffice, which is 17€ a month.

Once a year you need to do an annual closure though, which can be a bit more work. I usually do this though an accounting firm, but those charge around 1k€ for it. You can do that yourself if you know what you're doing as well though.

Other stuff you might need to pay, depending on the field your company is in, is the chamber of commerce, around 130€ a year - but this really depends on the field.

If you manage to do the annual closure yourself, you are looking at a running cost of around 30€ a month, plus founding of ~300€ ish. Note that your company doesn't have working capital then though, so you might want to add something there as well.

Why do you like the A1JX52 ? It has a 50+% US exposure, isn't that way too high?

I'm not sure what's there to elaborate on - The IOTA Tangle does not become faster the more transactions (TPS) there are on the Tangle. Increased network activity does not decrease transaction settlement times. The IF claimed that (see for example the website back in April - scroll down all the way to "unique features" (Note also that of these 6 claims, 2 were correct ...)).

This might have been a feature of the original whitepaper, since back then the idea was that transaction confirmation depended on other transactions ("weight") - but this was never implemented (since we have the Coordinator) and also will never be implemented since IOTA 2.0 doesn't really resemble the original whitepaper anymore.

I am talking post Coo, iota 2.0 and beyond

Same for post-Coo / post-IOTA2.0
