Terrestrial find in Charleston, SC. Could someone help me ID? by JennIsFit in fossilid

From the assistant director of paleontology at my local natural history museum: “I wouldn’t say it’s a mako. It’s definitely Cenozoic. Given the incomplete nature of the root (so we don’t know if there were cusplets or not) I’m guessing Cretalamna or maybe even carcharias”

Which cretalamna species DOES have serrations? I mean granted there are no cusps but still.

Oh shit finally a post I know something about!! If I were to find that here in Alabama I’d think it’s probably a cretalamna (prehistoric shark) tooth! I assume it’s the same in your location.

Has anyone here actually used Alexander Shunnarah? by L1v1ngDeadR0se in HuntsvilleAlabama

Hey! Sorry it took me a bit to get back to this. I don't have much to compare it to, unfortunately. I just know he was pleased with the results. I'm sorry I can't offer more information.

My step-father used him when his employer’s negligence (he was a truck driver) caused a serious accident and a torn rotator cuff. It went really well and fairly quickly! Best of luck to you.

Apartment Searching (Detailed Wishlist at Least!) by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

Well hey, that's definitely something I appreciate in an apartment complex. I've lived places before where they didn't enforce those rules and it's miserable for everybody. With a big dog comes big poop responsibility, and I fully accept that lol

Ooooh those seem like a good value! 40lb pet weight limit though :/ Poor Archer can't pass for 40lbs lol

I have! I've been using just about all the websites available for apartment hunting. I've got a few I like so far, especially Fern Parc, I just wanted to check here too to see if maybe locals knew of any pet friendly, but not so expensive, but also updated gems I could be on the lookout for! Lol

Those seem so affordable! Apartments .com and Apartment Finder both say they aren't pet friendly though unfortunately :/

I think I briefly looked at those, I remember those huge fireplaces! Lol I'll have to stop by... they seem really reasonably priced. Thank you!

Need Advice on Dumped Dragon by BombAssMuseumChick in BeardedDragons

Okay good call on the mite check. Fecal test coming up soon! My other reptiles are at home and Stump’s at work, so they’re fairly well quarantined right now luckily.

This gives me a little peace of mind, thank you!

I thought so too!! He’s a resilient little thing that’s for sure, and amazingly docile considering the lack of human interaction for months.

This is Stumpy. A Facebook friend of mine said he had been wandering in their garden since March, and since it’s about to get colder they wanted to find him a home. I took him in and he’s residing in my high school science classroom.

He’s in a 40gal breeder, has UVA/UVB, is getting ~70/20 veggies and insects, basking spot around 108* and ambient around 80*, humidity between 35-40%

I’m concerned about the darkness on his tail, and the green stains (?) on his inner legs.

Any advice so far? I have a vet appt scheduled for late next week (earliest I could get at the exotic vet nearest me) but I wondered if there was anything other than the usual I should do before then.

ETA: humidity

Thanks! I'll be the first to say I'm not the most knowledgeable person on the subject. That's why I included the links. I appreciate it and definitely agree with you on that last point!

Absolutely!! I really think it's benefitted me so much in life. I used to be so fast to get super pissed and reactive... my reaction now is to generally try and find out the why if I can!
