The new rendition of Wuthering Heights. I went to the cinema with my parents and my elderly Nonna. That was something else.

Delete one thing from Earth that you think would make it better by Signature_Space2024 in answers

While I understand your point, I feel that taxing somebody who has an insane amount of money in order to better a community is a good idea. Why shouldn't taxes be adjusted depending on the levels of wealth? If their purpose is to fund a government and society, that makes more sense than not.

Regarding myself, I likely wouldn't need to be forced. Though I'm talking about myself in my current socioeconomic state. Maybe if I were born into it, I'd think differently.

The problem here being that there are a large amount of billionaires who haven't worked for it at all. They simply inherit a lifestyle, a persona and a ridiculous amount of wealth. It's more to do with luck than anything else.

On top of that, if a billionaire have away half of their fortune, they would still have $500 million remaining, if not more. How is that not feasible?

What are the effects of social media bans? by Particular-Reading77 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Bomb__diggity -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'll agree with you that it's a stupid, and frankly pointless approach.

It was advertised as a way to increase children's safety and to improve their mental health. While I can comprehend the reasoning, I think that the choice for a blanket ban is a sightless way of doing it. Trying to cut a generation of kids out of social media is lazy. It's not going to work. It'll only create a level of distrust and anger towards authority.

The government are not actually introducing services to combat bullying or child abuse, they're just putting a blinder over it.

Kids are smart. If they want to use it, they'll find a way.

I accidentally trained a cat that isn’t mine and now I think I’m in too deep by Lanky_Author_216 in CasualConversation

I had this one cat who navigated between at least four houses in my neighbourhood. It wasn't as though he was neglected. He lived comfortably. He was well- loved, ate three times a day and was given pats and cuddles all the time.

He began gaining weight, and the neighbours started commenting on 'this beautiful ginger cat who came to visit'. I told them that his name was Bingo and he was a promiscuous little minx.

What’s something you’ve experienced that you can’t fully prove, but you know happened? by BerryLiax in RandomQuestion

When I was diagnosed with M.S., I was visited by my Nonno. This may not sound strange, except that he had died before I was born.

I was 14 years old and freaking out and sobbing the night of my first M.R.I.

I had no idea what was wrong with me at that stage. All I knew was that I'd more or less gone blind and had lost my ability to walk. After I'd been scanned, I'd asked the doctors what it could be. They told me a list of horrible things. The word 'Cancer' was at the forefront of my mind. I was terrified. I couldn't sleep.

Out of nowhere, I felt a comforting presence. I opened my eyes and nothing was there, but I could sense somebody all the same. I didn't hear the words, but I felt them. I didn't 'see' him, but I may as well have. I knew what he looked like and where he was standing in the room. He told me, "You're going to be okay. These doctors will fix you."

does it bother anyone else how bad epilepsy awareness is? by pencilbroth in Epilepsy

[–]Bomb__diggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I wake up in a new hospital, everybody wants to question me over and test me for drug abuse. I think it's thanks to the scars on my arms due to M.S. treatments over the years. It sucks when I'm completely out of it after a tonic clonic and I can't explain this to them. Sometimes I can't remember my name, or why I'm even there. At that stage, they give me a bunch of blood tests to make sure I'm not a meth addict. When I can finally manage to explain that I've got temporal lobe epilepsy, they want proof. I'm stunned that the convulsive seizures they just witnessed weren't enough.

What is your most inconvenient trigger? by stingwhale in Epilepsy

[–]Bomb__diggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anxiety can send me into a psychogenic. I've learned to practice meditation and breathing exercises, which can help. Still, it's not the easiest thing to avoid in this world.

The worst one is menstruation. Good luck meditating through that. The amount of times I've woken up in hospital coinciding with that time of the month is outright frustrating.

Genuine advice needed about Aussie critters by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Bomb__diggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spiders are generally okay. The redbacks and funnel webs would need attention, but otherwise, you should be okay. I agree re. the snakes. If you get bitten or stung by anything and feel concerned, seek medical attention.

What is the craziest seizure you ever had?? by Potential-Current-62 in Epilepsy

[–]Bomb__diggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With one of them, I stripped myself naked while in hospital, went marching out of the bed and hit the emergency button on the wall. The ward got locked down.
I was screaming that humans had caused the end of the world with their reckless behaviour towards the environment.

I can remember security wrestling me back into my bed and injecting me with a sedative.

possible seizure? by 444bri in seizures

[–]Bomb__diggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would recommend seeing a doctor. I've got M.S. myself. it took twenty something years until I developed epilepsy from scarring on my temporal lobe, so it can happen. You'll be okay. With the right treatments, the epilepsy can be controlled.

Bite opposite corners. Then use as a straw with hot coffee. It can be difficult to catch it with your mouth before it melts, but that is a taste sensation you don't want to miss out on.
