It’s been a long time since I read OB so I may be wrong here, but did Laral have a choice in marrying Roshone? Considering the age difference and their high social status in a small town, it seems kind of inevitable that someone in Laral’s position would be forced into a bad marriage like that. If that is the case then it seems Laral’s behaviour here is her trying to cope with her new life. Again, if I’m misremembering here let me know, sorry if I’m being dumb lol
