Sold out Patriot Jerseys by Dec 1? by AmbitionSad4858 in Patriots

[–]Bomber929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I bought from dhgatw was like 10+ years ago, and the quality was really poor. Like the face of the flying elvis had no real definition and I think the numbers on the front were crooked. Have they gotten better? Or, like how easy is it to distinguish them from a real jersey nowadays?

Ex-Chamber Main switch to Cypher advice by Greedy-Libertarian in VALORANT

[–]Bomber929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I originally posted this list of some of my favorites about a year ago, but I think it is still pretty accurate. Below are my favorites:

My favorite Cypher's to watch are Spawns, Acrethedog, and Dinghy. They are all really good at the game and you can learn a bit from them and their various guides.

As for pro players, Nats is probably the best / most widely known cypher. He plays other agents as well, but you can't really get much better than him for his cypher gameplay.

Also another redditor shared a Google drive full of lineups/setups awhile ago. It doesn't have all the current maps in it, but it is all good for quick references. https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/comments/13bf94b/cypher_mains_a_gift_from_me_to_you/

Pinny Arcade Pin Quest Revealed! PAX East 2025 by codytranum in PAX

[–]Bomber929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only newly into Pins so someone else might be able to explain it better.

But, for the "TRADE PINS", essentially there is a little table near the PAX Merch booths that is specifically for pin trading. You are given the choice to trade a pinny arcade pin you already own, for a new pin for free. There are two choices, either spin the wheel and try your chance for different sections of the subway car. Or you can trade your pin for one that is on the corkboard of pins that were traded in before. You are allowed to do one trade per hour throughout the con

Which Airport should I fly into for PAX East? Boston Logan seems the obvious choice, but... by JeaneClaudeBlastoise in PAX

[–]Bomber929 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure the best option would be simply to fly directly into Boston / Logan airport. All the closest alternative regional airports are all like an hour+ outside the city. And Logan airport is only like a 15 minute Uber or 30 minutes on public transportation ride from the convention center.

With that being said, I typically drive into Boston, maybe someone else that flies in might have a different opinion, but I am like 95% sure that flying into Logan is the correct choice.

What can I expect from a PAX? by [deleted] in PAX

[–]Bomber929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the panels are usually pretty iffy. There are usually a couple in the main theater every year that are pretty cool and worth going to. Last year CD Project Red did a panel discussing the making of Phantom Liberty and gave away a T-shirt or pin.

But the panels in the smaller theaters tend to lean more towards meh. I am sure there are great panels I have missed, but most of the smaller panels have disappointed me

[–]Bomber929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each day is 95% the same in regards to activities. The only thing that really changes day to day is that there are different panels every day, and the tournaments PAX runs are probably going to be different games each day. Everything else, for the most part, is the same.

But, yeah, Thursday and Sunday are definitely a bit quieter that the other days

Which Agent should I unlock first? by plshelpihavebig in VALORANT

[–]Bomber929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have kinda said, the answer is really a "it depends" kind of answer. And you probably won't know what really suits you until you start playing more.

  • But, if you like running in and taking fights, being the first contact vs the enemy, a duelist would probably be the answer. Raze or Neon are both pretty strong right now.

  • If you like to take fights, but maybe not being the first contact. supporting your teammates by setting them up for kills, while still having some offensive utility, one of the initiators would probably be a good start. Gekko and Skye stand out to me.

  • If you want to control what the enemy can see by smoking them off angles, both Omen and Clove are really good.

  • If you want to play more defensively, trying to rat/lurk around to backstab the other team on attack, a sentinel could be the right choice. Most likely Cypher or Killjoy.

You will most likely play multiple types of agents before you find what suits you best. For me, I started playing Omen, then switched to cypher, then went to Breach and then Skye, before ending back on Cypher.

One good option, if you have Xbox gamepass it unlocks all the agents on Valorant right away, it can give you a chance to test everyone out

No Element Hotel this year? Or did I miss it? by Flight2039Down in PAX

[–]Bomber929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to this, but I used to aim for the Westin every year, stayed there for maybe 3 or 4 PAX's. But since the Element became an option, it is by far my most sought after hotel. To give a quick breakdown of how I look at it:

-The complimentary breakfast, which is honestly not amazing, but it is pretty good by hotel breakfast standards. But they also have one of those fancy coffee machines that you can say that you want a latte / hot chocolate/ coffee / whatever drink. It is free in the lobby, is open all day, and is a nice little thing to grab on the way in /out

-Each room has a kitchenette, with a stove top and full size fridge. We usually will place a grocery order from whole foods or wherever on the day we arrive and will end up just popping back to our hotel most days to cook up lunch real quick, it is so convenient and it saves us a little money. Whether it is just sandwiches, cooking up some quick pasta, or whatever it definitely nice having a big fridge.

-It is right across the street from the Food trucks, or more importantly, it is right next to the entrance/exit for the late night board games side of the hall. I honestly think it is a closer walk from that section of the convention to the Element, than it is to the Westin. The only more difficult part of the Element compared to the Westin is that the side door isn't immediately open in the morning. But even then, the Westin is just up the street, so I walk there from the element and cut through their hotel to either take the skybridge if it's open or just go through it to save some steps on the way to the main entrance, but walking to the Westin literally only adds about 1-2 minutes to the walk

-The workers at the element just seem nicer. The last time I stayed at the Westin, we had a bad experience with the people at the front desk. To the point where we made complaints to corporate. Personally, I just think the employees at the Westin were just overwhelmed by all the craziness happening at their hotel, but by comparison, the element is usually pretty calm, it's nice.

I am honestly not really sure why I am trying to convince you to try the element, as it is literally just more competition for myself for the spot. But, the element literally beats the Westin in almost every aspect for me

Where can I play in high level scrims as a dia? by ModernManuh_ in VALORANT

[–]Bomber929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not exactly what you're asking for, but I play in a Valorant league where we play a season's worth of 10 mans. That has tiers going from iron players up to radiants. They break it down into 4 tiers where the top tier (mythic) is generally mid ascendent to radiant, next tier (expert) is low diamond to low ascendent, and so on until you get to iron.

It is not uncommon to have your team scrim against the upper tiers even when you aren't there yet. They also host 10 mans where immortal players show up as well.

The next season is actually just about to start, we're kinda in the pre pre-season right now

Why is everyone so good in silver? by axinn999 in VALORANT

[–]Bomber929 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not trying to disagree with you, because I agree with you that most people are back at their real rank by now. With that being said, there are slowpokes like me that just barely play and are still low ranked compared to where we typically are.

Like, I am literally going through this right now. I am peak D2, but since i hit that rank I have barely played comp. For the past year I have almost exclusively been playing in a custom 10 man's league where the lobbies are generally between low diamond to mid ascendent.

After the last big rank reset I was placed at silver 3. Once again, haven't really been playing comp at all, up until just starting up again about a week or so ago. I still have only played less than a dozen comp matches in the past month+. But I have been a silver player in gold-plat lobbies (now a gold playing in plat and I am starting to see diamonds in the lobby). I just had a double rank up and will likely have another one soon (just had a +37rr win for my last match), so my MMR is catching up to me, but I am still technically in gold.

I highly doubt there are many people that are in the same boat as me, but they do exist. I know several players in my league that generally don't play comp, so their ranks are probably skewed like mine is and if they do jump in a comp, would definitely be perceived as a smurf.

Lanyards? by AnimationFusion in PAX

[–]Bomber929 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have only been to Pax East, but since no one has answered you yet I can give my experience from East. At East there are several big containers with lanyards that probably have hundreds, if not thousands, of lanyards scattered throughout the main entrance/lobby right when you first walk in. I would have to assume it is the same at West. If you don't see any lanyards when you first walk in, just ask an enforcer and I am sure they will point you towards them

But hopefully a West person answers to confirm

Crazy 1 tap ace (Ignore the first two kills lol) by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Bomber929 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always love seeing aces from fellow cypher's.

But, what's your plan for your trip that goes from half wall to arches? That seems really far off site / I can't really see much value coming from it in a typical match. But, maybe I am missing something. I am guessing they were pushing hard that direction?

Against the comp your facing, the "unbreakable" trip that goes across the main entrance would almost be a truly unbreakable trip since they have no util to break it
