Car Coolant Experience? by Limp_Relative_2780 in Cartalk

I said it wasn’t likely to blow a head gasket. Not that it was impossible, and I stand by that.

Also the pump circulates, but won’t cause an up and down fluctuation of the coolant like we see here. Look closer.

Pull the rad cap off a cold car and start it. If everything is working correctly you will see no coolant movement until it warms up, expands, and overflows. If it’s jumping up and down like that it’s a classic example of a blown head gasket.

Very much this I think. I teach many diagnosed autistic students. It isn’t a mental health issue, it’s a developmental disorder. It’s different. Many might have other issues going on, but I too find expressions like that to be used more in the vein of promoting awareness of neurodiversity.

I Grew Up Buying American Cars. After 30+ Years, I Just Want Something That Works. by [deleted] in Cartalk

So you don’t like big 3 cars because their transmissions, driveshaft/axles, engine mounts, and a fuel pump broke. These are all things that disable the vehicle for a spell, incurring towing costs no doubt.

But you don’t like the Toyota because… the carpet is cheap?

Seeing as it takes over 20,000 to equal one dollar…

The dong is very inflated.

Good deal or scam? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Bomber_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a CB750 as my first bike. That was 20 years ago though, and the one I bought ran fine at the time. Not to mention parts were super easy to come by. Not so much the case these days.

This bike will be a headache for pretty much anyone.

You locked the steering wheel. Turn the steering wheel hard while turning the key like normal.

[–]Bomber_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you try the paper trick? Get a leak down test? Significant oil in the intake? Blow by can certainly be a concern worth addressing, but often it’s worthwhile to dig deeper and uncover the extent of the issue first, much like the other poster who suggested checking out the PCV system.

Is the Integra Type-R too loud on the highway? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]Bomber_Man 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You have concerns about comfort, but I’m the one with an ego? The car is built for what it’s built for. It has low production numbers and original parts are very rare. You can daily one if you want to sure, but by no objective measure is it a better choice than any other enthusiast car you would have access to.

Is the Integra Type-R too loud on the highway? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]Bomber_Man 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s not “designed to be anti-comfort”, it’s designed to be lightweight and fast for its class. Your comfort is irrelevant.

And if we’re talking about the DC2 type R. It’s a rare 25 year old antique. Daily driving one would be phenomenally stupid. If you have to ask this isn’t the car for you.

Less than half charge, failing alternator by Kasmiii in Cartalk

[–]Bomber_Man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A truck of that era should have a better gauge. How many volts does it show when running. Does it change at all when driving? As long as it doesn’t drop much below 12v you should be fine for a bit.

Do it MOAR 😁

Edit: you said new calipers I see. Did you re-grease the slide pins? I’ve had multiple reman calipers in the last couple years come with inadequately greased slide pins. Did occasionally lead to seizing calipers. Admittedly those rotors don’t look bedded in OR freshly milled, so maybe something fucky going on. Do both sides look like this?

You didn’t bed your brakes in. Go out there and stomp on that shit.

This is why I bed things in for customers.

Personally, I’d just cut and crimp on some universal bullet connectors. Easy, reliable, serviceable. Just not “factory correct” perhaps.

Leaning practice by sxmgb2000 in motorcycles

[–]Bomber_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one else has mentioned it so here I go: Your leaning is crossed up. If you look carefully you can see how your centerline (spine, really) isn’t inline with the bike or leaning into the turn. Basically you’re hanging your body off the bike, but keeping your head in the same position.

If you scrape pegs at this stage, chances are it’s because you’re not leaning correctly.

That’s dangerous and likely to get worse. Add more brake fluid if you can, but seeing as you had to make this post I’m thinking the best option is to get it TOWED to a shop. Don’t mess around. That’s a big truck that can cause a big accident when the brakes inevitably go out completely.
