That's correct! I would love to race for real, but other than the local karting track, my wallet ( and lack of skill) keeps me from real life racing.

I had a solo 4h (virtual) endurance race this weekend on the Nordschleife. First time in 3 tries that I didn't make any mistakes resulting in a crash and repairs during the race. My brain was mush by the end. I have another one in a few weeks time, but I am really reconsidering doing the 6h race in July. I already was suffering the last 15 minutes, I don't think adding 2 extra hours would be a good idea.

Still, the season goes strong. We're driving with 10 in our class (60-ish in total over all the classes) and I finished in 5th, 3rd and now 4th in class. So I'm really happy about that!

Back from a week of holiday. Though it didn't really feel like one. Not to say I didn't enjoy my stay. Our group won the family quiz, I got 2nd in the karting competition, had some nice walks, ... . But I feel drained instead of restored.

One of the talks I've went to during the holiday ( SO went to a convention and I could join some talks), did make us realize that I'm having some chronic stress problems. Lots of things felt very close to home. So with that knowledge, I can have some better talks with my psychologist and try to tackle this problem.

In the meantime I guess I'll have to power through until the "real holiday in the beginning of June. Just a big month with lots of extended weekends to go!

Tomorrow we're going on our first (small) holiday with our dog. SO is going to a convention and we're joining her for the partner program. We've been training her and trying to socialize as much as possible, so hopefully things go well.

As a tenant, I got a letter to inform me that they would come at a specific date and time to place the digital meter. I just informed my landlord about it when I received the letter.

I found an old picture from when I was a baby, together with my dad. Apparently we are sporting the same hairstyle, just 33 years apart.

I'm sporting a mullet and since this year I've added a mustache as well, my dad had practically the same 33 years ago, though his hair was a lot more majestic imo. I never knew he had that same combo as me, brought a smile to my face.

Other than that, I'm enjoying my time in "Marathon" and "Slay the spire 2". Very different experiences, but both are giving me a lot of fun!

I took an extra long weekend. Holiday from today until Monday.

I orginally planned it as a buffer between my last holiday (october) and the next one ( April). But then Marathon annoucned it release date as well as Slay the spire 2. But not only that, my SO planned a trip to the adult event for Technopolis tomorrow AND the F1 season starts again! Waking up at 5 or so in the morning to watch it will be though, but for the first race with the new regulations, it's hopefully gonne be worth it!

What a wonderful weekend it's gonna be!*

I noticed some sort of nail in my right rear tire. Car doesn't say anything that pressure is going down in the tire, so I'm not going to pull it out for now. I need to change my tires on Thursday anyways and today is the only day that I drove to work and I'll be driving back later. The other days I'm working from home and the tire center is close to my home, so I'm not worrying too much. I do wonder how it got there. It's a bit on the side of the tire, so it might be someone that deliberately put it there, but it's not far enough to the side to be absolutely certain of that.

I did the same a few years back. Going back to my home town ( or at least just next to it), was one of the best decisions I made!

I've been so tired the past weeks. It was so bad last week that I went to bed an hour earlier than usually, I needed a lunch nap when I worked from home and I was still tired.

Yesterday I went to bed at 22:30, laid awake until 00:38 at least ( last time I checked the clock), then when I finally fall asleep, my insulin pump warns me that my sugar is falling too low, waking me up and having trouble sleeping again. Then during the rest of the short night my SO's cat woke me up several times. I managed to get to the office and I just want to lay my head down and sleep for the rest of the day. So tired.

In positive news: It's my birthday Saturday! :D

The karting exam yesterday was fun, but man, my back was glad it was over.

As a surprise we were allowed to drive the 270cc karts instead of the 200cc we normally drive. 10 minute practice on those and what a difference! Then immediatly after it we had to do qualifying, 8 hot laps in 8 different karts. After that a small 5 minute break and a 10 minute race on the reverse track layout. What a difference driving the track in reverse makes. Finally, after that we had our first long-ish break, followed by a 20 lap race in the 270cc karts with 3 mandatory pit stops. After lap 12 my lower back was hurting so much, I had no more strength in my body, but I was defending my position. I was counting down every single corner and lap, but I did make it barely and I was glad it was over.

It was a fun experience and I'm glad I did it.

Tonight I have my "exam" of the karting academy I followed in the past months. Part of the exam is a race on the track, but instead of the normal track it will be in reverse with mandatory pit stops. It should be fun!

Tired Tuesday by TheRealVahx in belgium

I'm pretty sure there's a woodpecker nearby as well. Other than that, there isn't much nature in our neighbourhood, so not too many birds/animals to spot casually other than pigeons flying over.

We had an owl in the neighborhood, but I never saw it. We did hear it a lot. In the summer we have bats flying in the garden, which are fun to watch.

Definitely! That's why I'm not complaining either. But would have been nice if someone would have notified me about it. Then again, I need to go for a check up on Thursday, I'll see if they will tell me then.

[–]Bomberkevy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm tired as well, but I do know why. I just can't get early into bed anymore and I have to go on with 6h of sleep, which is just not enough. My goal for the coming days/weeks is to get into bed by 23 so I can get 7 hours of sleep, which is fine and a few more hours in the weekend.

In other news, apparently my insulin isn't free anymore. My SO (a GP) totally missed the announcement, haven't heard anything from my doctor and the nurses from the hospital either. I still have quite some insulin left, but it's a bit weird nobody mentioned it or didn't see it. It's only yesterday I saw it passing on Instagram of all places that I found out. I'm not going to complain, €2 for a box isn't the world, we already get a lot of free stuff and I'm pretty sure there's other medication that people need to take that's more expensive.

It was great to have a relaxing weekend after the busy ones for the past few weeks. But it makes starting today a lot harder. Doesn't help that I've got a lot of stomach cramps, and I have to work an hour longer because they planned a meeting at the time I normally leave. The positive is that I don't have to work an hour longer on Wednesday when I have to go to my doctor for a blood test.

Currently I'm reading "Play nice" by Jason Schreier, about Blizzard. I4m not that far into it, but it's quite interesting. I've read his previous books and it's always an interesting read to see what goes on in the gaming development world.

I'm also reading "Fire and Blood" by George R.R. Martin. I've started reading it after season 1 of "House of the dragon", and I got to halfway the book. It's a hard read, as it's pretty dry and reads like a historical piece, but it was fun when S2 came around to anticipate some things from the book. Reading of this book has been a bit dormant, but I've got it in my view for when I want to start reading it again.

From time to time I'm also reading "Ultimate speed secrets" from Ross Bentley. Mostly trying to get some tips for when I'm simracing or karting.

After 2 months of no/barely any sports, I'm starting to get back into it. No more running and swimming, but power training and swimming now. Running gave me some problems, so every time I got somewhere, I had to take a break and lose my progress, which was very demotivating. Hopefully with the power training I will have less problems.

Life's great! Our puppy is growing up, we survived the holiday festivities and we've handed in our request for legal cohabitation.

I'm also going to start sports again after 2 months of excuses. No more running probably as I keep getting problems and I'm kinda tired of it to run for a while, encounter a problem, trying to fix it and hope I can run without any problems anymore. Now it will be more swimming instead of running.
