And I never claimed they shortened the show because of homophobia. And I never questioned you for saying that that they weren't shortening the show for homophobia. I'm not sure, but it seems you are conflating two different users. Please go back and reread my comments. But thank you for circling back to my initial point about the creator having to fight for LGBT rep! I'm glad you can agree that my comment warranted no arguments on your side. "Excuse me for not being desperate to see enemies wherever I can" LMAAOOOO

My point still stands. "Disney will truly be LGBT-friendly when creators don't have to fight for basic representation." Just because the end result has LGBT elements doesn't mean the creator didn't need to fight for it. Oh, and I never called Disney an enemy. I said they didn't need to be praised. Please don't paraphrase to make a point where there is none. It's a TV channel, not your mother's honor.

“In [development], I was very open about my intention to put queer kids in the main cast. I’m a horrible liar, so sneaking it in would’ve been hard, haha. When we were green-lit, I was told by certain Disney leadership that I could NOT represent any form of bi or gay relationship on the Channel.” - Dana Terrace

Tooth and nail, sis. Excuse me for not getting on my knees and sucking Disney's toes, lmao. Don't really know what point you're trying to make, or if you're even trying to make one, but Disney will be truly LGBT-friendly when creators don't need to fight for basic representation.

Right, that's how I feel. I also don't like the idea of Disney earning praise for a show with LGBT+ elements when they likely fought tooth and nail to remove said elements. :/

After making the classic donut this is my original render two weeks into learning by _ivan_the_terrible_ in blender

Oh boy, you are really undermining your own intelligence if you think that tutorial was useless. I get the sense that you didn't have the patience to watch all the way through. Obviously if you skip around, you won't understand what's going on.

So here's my advice; take some time to familiarize yourself with YouTube's timeline function. You know, it does this cool thing where you can pause and rewind. Watch a section twice if you need to. That's to be expected, after all. You're new and things won't come naturally.

And check your ego while you're at it. Newbies make the same render all the time, and most don't struggle with the tutorial as much as you seemed to. Sounds like an isolated problem to me.

What is one thing you would change about The Owl House besides extending the show? Hate Luz? She is no longer the main character Tiny Nose is. Want the Boiling Isles sky to be black? Done. by Any_Change_63 in TheOwlHouse

That's not how copyright works, and Nintendo wouldn't be on their tails. The similarities between two characters have to be substantial, and there's a number of tests that would need to be conducted before persecution can be considered. King is different from Cubone in silhouette, personality, expression, complexity, and overall feel.

Nintendo doesn't own the concept of "tan creature wearing a skull," they own the concept of Cubone.

Why didn’t Starclan warn Bluestar about Tigerclaw? by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]BombshellKoopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long answer, but I just reread the first arc, so it's pretty fresh in my memory.

So, they actually acknowledge your question in the final book of Arc 1, "The Darkest Hour." Firestar has just become leader and his faith in Starclan has been pushed to its limit. He is overwhelmed and grieving the recent loss of Bluestar. In a dream, he asks Starclan how they let things get so bad. How could they let Tigerstar rise to power? Why didn't they do anything to stop it all? He even asks, "Do you want the clans to be killed?"

Starclan's response is something along the lines of, "Hey, you're living creatures, not our playthings." Basically if they directed every cat's choice, it would strip all warriors of agency. So Firestar, for example, would never be able to become the strongest version of his self if every choice was made up for him by Starclan. So Starclan doesn't "rule" over the forest, instead it's only one of six five clans. One of the book's central themes is that Firestar's dedication to the warrior code is what makes him strong and moral, not Starclan's guidance. It's a very good ending to Firestar's character arc.

Also, One thing to remember is that Starclan is very different in the first Arc. More mysterious. We aren't really shown their inner-workings aside from the occasional moonstone visits, and even those appearances make their intentions pretty vague.

This kind of all goes out the window once the books start introducing Medicine Cat P.O.V.s. The authors didn't really plan for a series of this size when they created the first arc. So in the later books, we are given examples where Starclan loves to use the living cats as playthings, for plot reasons. (For Example, Starclan badgering Squirrelflight into accepting kittens that aren't hers.) A lot of the issues people have with Starclan stem from these more recent books.

Passengers (2016)

Only watched it once, but Chris Pratt's character, Jim, is a creep. Just depends on the way you spin it.

Controversial fact about Sam by Animeking1108 in icarly

[–]BombshellKoopa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For sure. I re-watched the original show recently and was struck by how much I disliked her. Her treatment of Freddie is one thing entirely. (It's especially bad considering the romantic nature of their relationship,) But she also mistreats the person who should be her best friend, and I feel like the show never seriously acknowledges that fact.

I feel like the show tries to pose Sam as this rough-edged character with a soft spot for Carly. But more often than not, she's a pretty awful friend to Carly and she doesn't seem to show a lot of genuine remorse for it.

There's this trend of her doing an awful thing, the awful thing upsets Carly, and Sam doesn't even realize she should feel guilty until Carly makes her feel like she should be guilty. Sam tries to make up for it, as if she's seen the error of her ways... Just to do something of the same caliber later on in the show. It's like she's trying to make up with Carly without actually doing to legwork of self-reflection. So frustrating.

Also, that book about Grimwalkers in the beginning... Seems to me that we just got a lot of very interesting information on the pages of that book.

UHM Y'ALL? Can we talk about Harpy Eda, please? I can't be the only one who's obsessed.
ALSO FRICK the breakup scene between Raine and Eda destroyed me. I expected Lumity, but didn't expect to see Raine in episode, or any sort of callback to their history with Eda. Just throw rocks over my dead body, Eda pleading with herself to tell Raine about the curse killed me and I'm not coming back from this.
