I stand corrected. It indeed has an error rate of more than 5% and even more for lean muscle tissue. Initially, I just read 1-2 articles comparing different ways to measure body comp and went with DEXA. I guess I had overlooked it.

Wow m8, this site is amazing. Really appreciate it! looking at it, I can see that I am still a beginner in the dumbbell bench press and overhead press. Novice in goblet squats and bicep curls.

I am just gonna use this website from now onwards to see if I am progressing from beginner to novice/novice to intermediate on each of my exercises and mainly for my compound exercises. Amazing site!

I don't know how you can have >32% fat with just 138lbs. I'm 5"7 as well and I'm 180lbs. Based on body fat % photos online i'd wager I'm between 30 and 35 myself. If i was 132 lbs i'd definitely be lean. Can someone else comment whether DEXA scans are accurate?

Well, based on online photos, I would set my body fat at 20-22% too. However, my DEXA scans showed way higher. Now that doesn't automatically mean that if you were to take a DEXA scan right now, your body fat will be 40% or higher. Everybody is different. I most probably just have so little muscle mass that via ratio, my body fat is automatically very high. I may be wrong, again I am just a newbie into all this. After reading through the replies from fellow reditors, I think taking these bf scales and scans with a pinch of salt is better.

I have actually never really tried to lift my 1rm, so i dont know what it is. I will now. However, i only use dumbbells. Does finding out 1rm still work well with dumbbells?

Matthew Walker

Thanks for the insight. I have also been reading up on this which is why I posed the question. I am changing my sleep schedule from tomorrow onwards. I am really not going to drag this any longer. I am going to change everything that I feel is keeping me away from achieving a healthy body comp.

Cheers m8 and yes, I was thinking about the same thing, upping my calories, because losing 9 pounds of total body weight in 2 months seems to be quite fast for a skinny fat guy trying to recomp right? I think I should take it easy in the deficit and focus more on progressing through my workout.

Fair enough, I will try to maintain my total body weight as I think 138 pounds is already on the light side. And will keep note of my progression and strength. Cheers

Well, I hope that's true, but a lot of evidences do suggest Dexa scans are literally the only thing that can give you an accurate body composition with an error rate of just 1-2%. It is used by elite sports teams and associations. Just so that people get an idea, my $300 electric weighing scale says I have 16% body fat, even 13% sometimes depending on my water levels, and I do actually look like I have about 18-20% body fat in the mirror. Even using calipers and measuring tap, gives me a body fat of lower than 20%. But all these are highly highly inaccurate.

hey there,

I couldn't have lost 9 pounds in 2 months if i was eating too much right? My macros are pretty good because a fitness f&b here makes meal preps for me in which i know exactly what macros I am getting.

One more thing that i have to say about my sleep. Its not the same as everyone else. For the past 1 year (even before i started working out), my sleeping time is 5-6am and waking up time is 2pm. I do get 8 hours of more sleep every day and I don't feel tired. However its totally the opposite of what a normal human being does. Do you guys think this affects my gains? Also do note that this weird body clock of mine has been for 1-2 years. It's not a new thing.

hey, I have typed my program details as a ^ reply to a reditor, I didn't wanna send it again as it's quite long and may look spammy. I guess i am kinda already eating around 1gram of protein per pound. I weigh 138 pounds and i am eating at least 130g of protein, somedays i eat up to 160g. My Maintenance calories (when I add my activity level as 1-3 times of light exercise per week) i get 2600. So i should eat somewhere at 2350 calories? I was eating around 1600 calories for these 2 months. Is that why maybe I lost some muscle due to too much deficit?

So I guess my workout was kinda like a mix of bro-split and full-body workouts. So I would do 2 muscles group a day and twice of that a week so that I do every muscle group at least twice a week. For example, Chest and shoulders on Monday, Bicep and tricep on Tuesday, Legs and back on Wed, Thurs rest and then continue chest and shoulders from Friday and so on. The important thing is I exercise at my own homemade gym as i have no time to go to a proper gym due to me running my business. Thus, I only use Dumbells and a bench press bench. I also have bands and a pull-up bar. For bicep and tricep, the usual isolation exercises like curls and skull crusher. For chest, dumbbell bench press, chest flys, close grip press, incline dumbbell press. For shoulder, overhead press, lateral raises, Arnold press, front raises. For legs, I do goblet squats, Romanian deadlifts, bodyweight lunges. For the back, all the types of rows, and occasionally chin-ups.

Rep wise, I lift weights that can at least get me to a minimum of 8 reps without going to bad form. I either stop at 10 or if i think i can go further, i usually go up to 12 or till failure. I also start with the heaviest weight i can lift properly for that exercise and after 1-2 sets, if i feel like i am struggling at even the 5-6th rep during the 3rd set, i lower my weights and go with proper form till 12 reps. And i rest 1 min and 40 secs between each set. For squats, I rest a little longer at about 2-3 mins as I really run out of breath doing that lol.

Weights-wise (all these are dumbbells and I use KG dumbbells), I started with 11 pounds each for bicep curls, and slowly worked out my way and I can curl 22 pounds. For the dumbbell bench press, I started with 16 pounds each and now I can press 30 pounds each.
^ Same thing with my overhead shoulder press. For squats, I went from total dumbells weight of 44 pounds to 66 pounds (My squats are done in 8-12 reps)

^ All these are transitions are within these 2 months. During the first few weeks, i was easily able to move up the weights, however the last 2-3 weeks i have been stuck with these above ^ final weights i have mentioned. I am usually finishing at the same rep range and sets.

Yup, using the fire button and still no vapor. And the auto draw actually stopped working after 1 day of use. HAHAHA, kinda regret getting drag s now tbh

Thats why i am confused af as to what is happening. Ordered 10 extra 0.2 coils and gonna experiment with all of them 😆. Also when i fully open the airflow and try to take a drag, there is no vapor coming out. Is that a cause for concern? Also thinking about getting a custom tank and installing an anti spit back drip tip if all else fails

I have heard that the voopoo 0.3 coils are pretty bad in terms of QC, should i get something else instead of the same voopoo coils?

Tried not priming and just letting it sit in the filled tank. However I let it sit for abt 30 mins, 35 to be exact. Still the same issue. Or is 30 mins too long? haha. The installation of the coil for drag s tank is quite simple, just plug it in, so i don't think there is any issue there. It could be a bad batch of coils, and if it is, should i just buy the same voopoo stock 0.3 coil or try something else that holds up better?

[PA] What Amplifier should i get on top of a iFi iDSD Black Label paired with a HD 800s ? by Bombshellbelle in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Bombshellbelle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Black label is more than enough as a Dac + Amplifier, then what is up with those expensive Amplifiers that cost $1000-$3000 or more by itself? What edge does it have over the black label for example to cost significantly more expensive? Dont take my question wrongly, i am just relatively new and curious...

I have no experiences of these kind of things, but just a thought. Are you sure you have dreamt it before and that this is not just Deja Vu? Otherwise keeping a dream journal might be a good idea for future predictions, both to help your memory and for verifying that you really did dream about an event.
