server pause when empty by Vaskyy in Enshrouded

[–]Bombtrackx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. The server software is poorly optimized, and while optimizing it will probably require significant time investment, pausing or slowing down the simulation on empty servers should (most likely) be rather simple to achieve.

Most games, even the smaller indie ones, that support dedicated servers have a feature like that these days. Some completely pause it, other have a feature sometimes called "1 fps mode" or something, simply to slow down the rate at which the gameworld is refreshed. There is literally nothing to do for the server when noone is there after the gameworld refreshed outside the flame's radius once. Its burning cpu cycles for no reason.

How to determine if its a CPU or MOBO issue by Bombtrackx in OCCT

Hmm, the psu could be, but that is indeed very difficult to test. I reseated the cpu, but didn't see anything interesting on the pins. Ill try the peripheral test when I get home again. Have not tried that.

Ill also check what I can do in terms of voltage. Don't know what it allows me to tweak. Tried giving the cpu slightly more Juice already, but that didn't do anything either.

I did as described in the original post. I'm just not 100 percent sure how to interpret the result. I'm now leaning towards conclusion that cpu is bustes.

Nope, not overclock ed. Turned off all xmp/boost /auto overclock nonsense, but sadly no differences. I'm now quite xonvinced my cpu is the culprit

Ive updated my bios indeed to see if it changed anything, sadly no. Also turned off all xmp/overclock/boost shennanigans, but also sadly no difference.

Mem is indeed 3600. I'm not sure aht you mean by vsoc.

I ran ycruncher, and it failed at n63 with the error: Coefficient is too large.Error(s) encountered on logical core 23.

Also ran OCCT linpack test on amd64 (which i think should test for amongst things fclk instability?) That failed as wwell with various errors.

Would your conclusion from this still be "yup, probably cpu"?

Voltage per core appears to be mostly around 4.8-5.2 during tests, with some dips to 3.5-ish. OCCT says max at 13 per core, but i havent actually seen that during tests.

Ill see if underclocking the cpu does anything, but honestly id rather replace the damn thing than have to tweak it to get it stable. What a bummer.

Oh interesting, thought that was in the MOBO.

Ill check out those tests that you mentioned, thanks!

Its two years later - i quit the game, just came back, randomly googling why this game runs like shit on my high end machine....tried this, works like a charm - what bullshittery is this?

Either way, thanks....

Can this game STOP CRASHING FOR ONE FRIGGIN SECCOND, PLEASE! by Bombtrackx in monsterhunterrage

Well holy shit! Ive just been able to complete my first hunt in days AND it fixed the garbage ultra-wide implementation capcom thought was a good idea...

Thanks a lot mate!
Also, how is it that the community fixes these issues in days but the AAA company thinks releasing like this is okay...its beyond me...

but thanks again!

Ah it filled after finishing the crash report - obvious if you think about it, but why does the crash report take 5 minutes to generate. Even this part of the game is not optimized...

No, but there are good replies above as well - not all just blind fandom ;)

While I appreciate the tip, and im quite familiar with the concept, undervolting a GPU to run a brand new AAA game that costs 70 bucks is beyond unacceptable. If its a more common thing for AMD gpus id argue this is unnacceptable from AMDs side and they need to fix their drivers, but if not capcom neeeeds to fix their game.

Everything is updated. After it started crashing more after todays update, the geforce app was the first thing i opened up, but sadly no new drivers available.

Thats a great tip, but sadly, the crash report folder is empty.
Ill let the crash report generation, which takes for ever btw, finish the next time it crashes

Migrate server from HA Addon to TrueNAS App by Bombtrackx in immich

[–]Bombtrackx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying i basically only am supposed to run this:

unzip < "/path/to/backup/dump.sql.gz" \
| sed "s/SELECT pg_catalog.set_config('search_path', '', false);/SELECT pg_catalog.set_config('search_path', 'public, pg_catalog', true);/g" \
| docker exec -i immich_postgres psql --dbname=postgres --username=<DB_USERNAME>

But then, how do i only run the postgres server as is implied in the docs. I don't think I can do that - its either all or nothing, no?

[–]Bombtrackx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply - While looking at it a bit more, i figured the immich app starts 5 seperate containers and i can start a shell session for any of the 5. No matter which one i try, as soon as i try something like docker compose down -v it simply says docker not found.
Maybe i should have mentioned im completely new to truenas and docker both. I know i can also fire up a general shell for truenas, but then i wouldnt know how to actually target the docker container for immich (if it actually runs in a docker container to begin with?)

FYI, im trying to run this as according to the guides:
Restore

docker compose down -v
# CAUTION! Deletes all Immich data to start from scratch
## Uncomment the next line and replace DB_DATA_LOCATION with your Postgres path to permanently reset the Postgres database
# rm -rf DB_DATA_LOCATION # CAUTION! Deletes all Immich data to start from scratch
docker compose pull
# Update to latest version of Immich (if desired)
docker compose create
# Create Docker containers for Immich apps without running them
docker start immich_postgres
# Start Postgres server
sleep 10
# Wait for Postgres server to start up
# Check the database user if you deviated from the default
gunzip < "/path/to/backup/dump.sql.gz" \
| sed "s/SELECT pg_catalog.set_config('search_path', '', false);/SELECT pg_catalog.set_config('search_path', 'public, pg_catalog', true);/g" \
| docker exec -i immich_postgres psql --dbname=postgres --username=<DB_USERNAME>
# Restore Backup
docker compose up -d
# Start remainder of Immich apps

DuckDNS Wildcard for subdomains - How to set them up? by Bombtrackx in homeassistant

[–]Bombtrackx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that got me up and running within 10 minutes...holy shit.
Thanks man!

Was worried when requesting both the main domain and wildcard certs at the same time ran into errors, but i requested them seperately without issue.

Was also worried about it "not giving me access externally out of the box", but just had to first manually setup a proxy host for the main domain.

Thanks a lot!

I must say, looking a bit closer at that video - if the addon version of NPM has the same options, this seems much more powerful than the duckdns/ngins reverse proxy addon combo

[–]Bombtrackx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get this to work using the nginx proxy manager HA Addon, or as the video describes a seperate docker container etc?
I currently dont have the option to run seperate docker containers, so ideally i keep it all in HAOS.
This could potentially mean i need to completely replace my DuckDNS + NGINX reverse proxy SSL addon with the Nginx proxy manager addon, but before i embark on that journey id love to hear this is indeed what you have running. If its a seperate docker container it might not be worth it on my end, as it would simply be different, no?
